    Thank you! I thought it was the neighbor's car going off all night from the direction of the sound from the back of my house. They just let it go. In the a.m. it went off again, and lo and behold it was coming from my driveway!! I unlocked the van, and thought that would fix- but it went off again in a half hour. I ran to CZcams, and found your video. I hope this does the trick! I owe the neighbors, big time. Thanks again!

Thank GOD for wifi & CZcams!!!! I was able to turn off the alarm before returning to the apartments and waking the managers that live right across the stairs from us and our parking spots!!!! GREAT VIDEO!! You saved my butt at 1:30AM when my Odyssey's alarm decided to go off in the hotel parking lot. I spent over 30 minutes trying to clear the problem by resetting the alarm, opening/closing all the doors & hood, and driving around in hopes that maybe something got wet and driving would dry it out...a;; those things did nothing. So I did a Google search and found this video which showed me exactly what to do. THANK YOU!!!!!!

  • @briansmobile1
    @briansmobile1  Před 12 lety +5

    @poppoo78 The thing to do is eliminate ONE suspect at a time (not necessarily permanently) till you find which one is causing the problem. Some times it's the side door contacts being corroded so the door thinks it's open etc. due to changes in humidity and temperature.

    Great video for a too-common problem. On my 2013 Odyssey you don't need to remove the plastic cover, or need any tools at all. Popped the hood, found the connector, and unplugged it. 30 seconds work for a lifetime of peace and quiet.

    Your video is awesome! I couldn't get the housing off, but I am a small enough lady that I could lean over and reach in, trace the cord back and pull the plug. If I pulled the wrong one and my alarm goes off again I may just set the whole van on fire. It's 1am, day 4 after snowzilla...way too cold out for this kind of tomfoolery!

    Great video, and great humor. It's 11 pm and I'm just had the same problem with my Accord. Neighbours were already outside before I was wondering what was going on. This video makes me suspect the hood switch. I'll dig into tommorow it. I pulled the horn fuse in the meantime to keep it from making a huge racket again tonight.

    This video was very helpful. I recently gave my co-worker a jump when it was raining. A week late as it rain in Florida like crazy my alarm kept going off in my Honda Pilot. I took it to the Honda dealer to run a diagnosis and was told I needed to purchase a new key to reset the alarm. It didn't make sense to me but this video does. It was the condensation from the water and temperature change at night.

    Well, today is July 14th 2024 and this video saved me a ton of headaches! Daughters have vehicles and I let them park in the garage and I’ve been parking my 2016 Odyssey outside for a few months. Recently this has started doing this and I didn’t know why.
    It’s even easier to locate and unplug as the plug is pretty much park of the hood latch and you don’t even need to unclip it from the structure. Just look at the latch and it’s right there. Pinch and remove.
    Thank you so much. Now my neighbors can put down the pitchforks and snuff the torches and we all can get some sleep.

On the 2002 getting at the connector was even easier than your video. Disconnected it, problem gone. This is a great video with more than its described purpose. I want to diagnose a parasitic draw on my '08 EX-L Ody and needed to "arm" the car to get it to fully shut down for the diagnosis. Once I found that sensor and unhooked it, the van honked when I locked it with the hood still up making it ready to go to sleep for the parasitic draw testing.

  • @mikehanna1981
    @mikehanna1981 Před 9 lety

    This is extremely helpful. I have a 2002 Honda Accord and it's the same issue. Alarm just goes off randomly, USUALLY at night. I got tired of it and disconnected my battery when I got home from work. Other sites say a low/bad battery can also be the cause, so make sure to eliminate other possible causes. I had my battery tested and it had bad cells. I replaced it and 30 seconds after replacing it (literally, I'm not making this up), the alarm went off.
    This weekend, that sensor is coming apart!
    BTW, that Odyssey horn sounds EXACTLY the same as my Accord, haha.

    Thank you. Yesterday I disconnected what I thought was the hood latch. It was the fan heater switch. whoops. The hook latch connector is in fact connected via a white push connector under the metal as described in the 2001 Oddessy I just popped it loose, used the screw driver to pull apart the connections and viola. no more random hood latch car alarm sounds. Thank you !

    Brian, Thanks for posting your video. The alarm on our 08 odyssey has been getting finicky to the point that the key remote won't turn it off and even unlocking and locking the drivers door with the actual key doesn't stop it. I am going to take a look at the hood switch and try disabling that. My other concern is that some how the remote start we had installed a couple years ago may be causing this?
    Thanks!

    Hi there, I just wanted to express my thanks to you for detailing how to fix this particular problem. My 2002 Odyssey's alarm had been going off the last few nights (probably from it getting cold outside, is my guess). I was able to follow your instructions, and I have disconnected the defective switch, and hopefully this will solve the problem. I did break the little plastic connector while try to get it apart, but it's not like it ever needs to go back together, right?
    Thanks again!

  • @mattthomas4570
    @mattthomas4570 Před 11 lety

    Thanks Brian,
    After looking for the switch under the hood (The 2008 Odyssey does not have the hood switch, at least not one that I could find) I finally disconnected the horns to stop the noise and the staring from passers by. A cop drove by looked at me ad kept going. I guess he wasn't concerned that I might be stealing it.
    Ultimately I pulled the 5 fuses that the remote start/key-less entry has and that stopped the nuisance. The factory key-less entry works fine. Thanks

    Great video, saved my day. I had exact same problem with 07 CRV, alarm was going off for no reason. After I watched this video, I find out the hood switch for security system was the culprit. Instead of disconnecting the switch, I cleaned it up. I am hoping it fixed the problem. If it happens again I am going to just disconnect it as suggested by the video.
    Honda should improve the quality of the switch.

    The instructions were perfect. I did in less than 5 minutes. I think the fix will work because the lights didn't flash and the horn didn't sound after pushing the lock remote (twice for the horn). After unplugging the hood lock switch, the lights flashed and the horn sounded just like the car used to.

    On "either side" of the tailgate door or on the latch it connects to at the base of the rear of the back area in the vehicle? I did remove two screws on either side of the gizmo on the tailgate door, but that did not give me access to much. Could you please specify where the bolts are? FYI, I used auto grease to lubricate the tailgates door latch and have not had the dummy light appear or the alarm go off, but I'd still like to pursue disconnecting the alarm at the tailgate. Thanks so much!

Do you need to use a paperclip/jump wire to close the switch and then reconnect any of the wires that were connected together to bypass the hood latch part?
