I’m so sorry that some of our friends said about the Amish… I’ve seen Amish horses at auctions before and they were the most trained, friendly and loving horses I’ve ever seen in my life! The furniture these people make is amazing!!! They are self sustained and such a loving people!

There are good people and bad people in all walks of life. I watch another channel where this woman goes to auctions all the time to acquire horses for her riding programs and recently purchased a horse trained by Amish and this horse was beautiful, healthy and well trained. Wishing Ben lots of luck with his new horse.

I'm from N. Indiana area, my Dads friend was a contractor who hired the Amish. They built the framing on our new home and pole barn on ten acres.
They are fast efficient and hard-working men... but the young boys were always far too shy to talk🤭😉.
The women were always marvelous and gracious hosts when we visited, to buy vegetables or leather goods for our horse farm. As a young girl, I was amazed at the beauty and cleanlines inside of their homes and the talent of their sewing skills.
We would all retire on the porch, for homemade ice cream, and share a sunset, as we watched the young men prepare their buggy in preparation for a night out with their date. The old men would always tease the young men... but I envied them, close-knit and God-fearing families.
Thank you, Sir, for sharing & standing for them. As their lives aren't easy, the work is real, their animals are not pets... but each one is an integral component, in a working functioning farm, and a family surviving, in these times.

I was raised in southern Indiana, and we owned a funeral home. My dad would oversee the Amish community's funeral as required by Indiana. They also sold their produce and bake goods in our parking lot and several of the girls and I became good friends. We also ate together and would help each other out when needed. They were very respected in our community.

It is ridiculous that people who view your channel think they have a right to chastise you for finding homes for the horses you have on your farm. Personally I enjoy seeing your adventures. If people don’t agree with your plans they ought to go to a channel they agree with. Amish depend on their horses for transportation and work. Glad they have Charolette, she will be a good addition to their family. Glad they made it home safely. 💕From East Texas

My comment was respectful towards Amish folks, or indeed---people who live in Michigan! lol ~ They are neighbors to me here in Ohio. It's not The People OR their way of life or their religion I would ever be negative towards----I grew up in North Eastern Ohio where communities of Amish lived right alongside all the rest of us. Frankly, I am in AWE of them! However, while I'm sure MANY Amish folks are very good stewards of land and livestock, there are money-makers with puppy mills too. There are plenty of drafts worked all their lives until worn out and broken down---then dumped at auctions. I'm not in a position to judge anyone, just saying, these are facts too---so, I understand why there was a hue and cry about Charlotte. If she's intended as a family riding horse, I'm sure she'll be just fine, and the kids will love her. As for lady---well, Michigan winters are TOUGH, but, she'll be retiring to gorgeous land with tons of grass and trees---and your new friends must be pretty darned wonderful to drive all the way out to Arizona to pick up these horses from you. It's true though, we as Viewers get too attached AND Too Bossy. I can admit it----can't speak for the others! Love you All! (Amish and Michiganers included) 🥰

I am from Michigan and for a few years I lived in Charlotte Michigan around a lot of Amish I became friends from driving my neighbor around, I am not saying I know everything about Amish but I do know that about ninety percent of the Amish are very good people and take care of their animals, probably are some that don't take care of them, but I have seen plenty of English people that don't take care of their animals. I sure miss being around them now that I am down here in Arizona, I do still call my friend to see how they are doing, oh I am not Mormon either but I believe that they take care of their animals, I don't put people down for what they.. are or what they Believe , if we were all like this could you imagine how good the world would be.

You are an inspiration to your followers no matter what religion we are. Keep up the good work and remind us all to be family centered and open minded. And keep teaching us about rescues of horses!!!
And p.s. I think the Amish hate talk is fueled by the draft horses ending up in kill pens. People forget there are THOUSANDS of people sending out unwanted horses. I would bet the Amish are a very small percent of that. And there are unethical mean spirited people of every race and creed. That’s why we need mentors like you! ❤

People can be so judgemental and I suppose their fore fathers, since the beginning of time, had tractors, motor cars , electricity etc etc. I think it is great that the Armish are keeping history alive for the younger generation to see what life was all about, especially the pioneers. They are keeping up the type of life our forefathers lived and their animals were used for the purpose of farming and travel, including oxen, mules and donkeys. Some people only keep horses for shows etc and can afford to. There are even horses in heaven and no tractors and motor cars. Live and let live is my motto and help where you can. Even a glass of water to some road worker, on a hot day or a take-away meal for a homeless person, even a genuine love hug for some stranger who looks down and out. This is love for people and animals. Have followed you for many years but don't always comment. Love you all and am horse crazy since I was knee high to a grasshopper and am now very close to 85 years of age. Praise God. Shalom and maranatha.

I will never understand how some people think. If he wanted to abuse or mistreat a horse he would not spend the money on gas to go that far for a 21 year old horse to do something bad to it. Alan you are Mormon and some people don't care for them either. If you like some one why does there religion be the first thing you hate about them. There are a lot of people I don't care for or like very much and I don't know or care what there religion is or if they have one. If you treat people right is the first impression I look at when I meet some one. I watch your videos because I like the way you do and what you do. If some of your viewers were having to decide what to do with these horses you rescue God help the poor things. I don't have a horse but have all ways loved them. Folks its a business running a farm or a CZcams channel. Thats my two cents worth

I am sure that the anti Amish sentiment sprouted from the horse rescue videos on you tube, where people buy horses at auction before they are sold for meat, and very often the Amish horses are in bad shape and have been harshly treated, and many are sold in great groups when their useful life had ended.

And those videos are from one point of view in certain situations. Spur, the Shetland pony that was rescued , was not owned by an Amish family. Yet, he was really mistreated.
There was a farm near us that had 200 skeletal horses confiscated because of neglect, and those were not Amish people. You can’t form opinions from watching videos because it’s always from one point of view.

Hi Alan I from Mass. and use to be a barrel racer to old for it now . My father in law was a horse sales man ,we went to Pa. to see an auction ,on the way we seen work horses plowing the fields the driver looked like he was taking a nap LOL . The horses were beautiful and just plouding along doing there job . We made it to the auction and there was a team of blue roan work mules they were looking like they had never been brush rather rough but not real skinny and hooves looked ok . Two men cam over to them one on each side and within 10 min. tops those two roans looked beautiful . the work the men did on each side was awesome brush shaved and slicked down like they never rolled a day in there lifes. the auction went on very well ,it was run by Amish and ran very well . I agree with you i like to see horses, mules even ponies work at what there meant to do .

    • @claudiadickerman4218
      @claudiadickerman4218 Před 19 dny +5

Before you say shame on those who made comments about their concerns, please do some research. It is mostly the old school Amish that work their animals to death with little vet care and almost no hoof care with their plow Belgians. There are many rescues out there that specialize in rescuing these work horses at auctions. They are generally NOT cared for and then dumped as kill buyers love the heavy horses as they sell to slaughter houses by the POUND. So the bigger work breeds are in trouble and being neglected and abused. The younger Amish seem to be turning the way horses are handled around and we are happy to see and hear that, but there are STILL a bunch that care nothing about the animals they own. IT IS A FACT. So it goes both ways, I agree there are wonderful Amish breeding and training wonderful horses, these are the younger men and families. The older ones are the problem and there is still the puppy mill problem that is horrendous as well. I don't think every fan made a broad statement against the Amish, I think most were concerned as we/they are informed about auctions and the slaughter pipelines. We watch hundreds of auctions live with the many rescue groups that go there to rescue so we have seen the problems and neglect these Amish horses have endured. Like most things more of us were just concerned that you were totally unaware of the Amish horse problems, we did not say that the ones in Michigan were awful personally, we all just wanted to get you curious about our concerns and to get up to speed on what IS AND HAS been going on with Amish throwaway horses, It is even sadder that many of the auction horses that the Amish bring are sometimes very young and have not received the vet care needed to keep them sound and therefore when these work horses or buggy horses become lame or have injuries that were never addressed and become a financial drag on the owners, they just get dumped. and sadly most of the big drafts end up in the slaughter pipelines which is just horrendous what these animals go through before they even get to the slaughter houses. Mexico has the worst, I have seen undercover videos of horses being SKINNED ALIVE, and the big drafts punched ten or more times in the head with a huge weight before they finally die. Sorry, but to those who let these beautiful animals end up like that, I have no words for.

Yes, various Amish (and Mennonites) have been engaged in puppy mills criss-crossing multiple states and they are being called out. Religious freedom does not mean that they can abuse/ neglect animals.
Everyone must speak up about animal abuse regardless of the social status of the abusers.
Horse racing is another industry that treats horses horribly. Big, big money in horse racing, and yes, there are whistle- blowers whose conscience speaks to them and they call their ego-driven employers and vets out. BRAVO!

I know several Amish people and did buy my horses from them. My horses are wonderful. I've seen good and bad in the Amish AND English community. Its much easier to judge the Amish as they don't have the ability to defend themselves. Horses are work animals to them and some will mistreat them. I know of people in my area who neglect and abuse their horses. When one reports this abuse, horses go from pets to livestock and don't have the same protections as dogs and cats etc... I love spending time with my Amish friends. My horses are pictured on my YT profile. 1 Morgan gelding, Morgan mare and 1 Saddlebred mare. 2 can drive and ride. My Morgan mare is 4 years old and is still growing. I'm doing ground work with her and will wait another year to back her. She came home as a weanling.

I have not ever known any Amish. The things I know is they are hard workers and have good work ethics. I believe that being prejudice is a horrible skill n. Everyone comes from Adam and Eve, so you need to all reality we are the same race. God loves everyone and any one who has faith, believes in Jesus and asks Him into his heart will go to Heaven.

I think what some references about Amish, is from horse rescue channel s that they rescued horses from the sale barn, alot of drafr, standard bred, walking horses in Tennessee.? Im not sure, but that would be my guess.? I watch alot of different animal channels, but i like this channel alot.

I drove truck and delivered goods for many years to the Amish. I never saw them be disrespectful to their horses! This was in upstate NY and in the winter, they would get to the grocery store, water the horse, rub them down and then put a wool blanket and blanket on them before they did anything else. Why would you hurt your only means of transportation?

Living in north central Ohio I committed and did so from personal experience. There are without a doubt some wonderful Amish in our area but there is also a large portion of that community that considers their horses as tools and are worked as such when used up they are discarded or terminated. This is not an attack in any way just my experience. I frequently have Amish do construction projects and or custom cabinets/woodworking and enjoy working with them.

I too live in Ohio Amish country. There are many who take fine care of their animals, but there are many who don't. I would not like to risk that one of my horses might go to the ones who don't. And don't get me started about their puppy mills!

Horses are ‘rescued’ all the time by people who never intend to help the animal at all. We’re told all the time to never offer a horse for free as it attracts the type of people that take the horse immediately to auction. These people even bring their children/grandchildren along to seal the deal. It has nothing to do with being Amish. Once the horse leaves you really have no way of knowing what becomes of them.

It’s not right to assume any person has certain traits as a group. There are both farm animals and dogs in rescue that have come from Amish farmers and Amish puppy mills, but that does not mean it’s this particular family

I have had a lot of interaction with the Amish in our area. Helping them and them helping my family. Like us they all serve a purpose in the community! As far as them not taking care of their horses, that’s a lot of trash! If you don’t take care of your car it will break down. If you don’t take care of your tractor, it will break down! Enough said. Most of the people that are putting up these comments have no knowledge personally. They treat everyone and every animal as they wish to be treated. Just like the Bible tells all of us.

I watch another horse channel and she is in Michigan and goes to the auctions all the time, and she just bought one maybe 5 months ago, and she was ridden in a competition and she took a all the way around blue ribbons, this is how well trained the Amish lady trained this horse the other one she bought was a beauty and come to find out she was pregnant so she bought 2 horses for the price of one. lol the worst part is she was only used for buggy’s never ridden, after she had the filly she ended up with a bad case of shivers so she’s become a all around pet now with her bonus filly, and we all go along for the ride at the actions and there are some beautiful well maintained horses and some that have out lived their usefulness I guess you could say like lady has arthritis and they are sold off. Every once in a while I have see some that have come in that look really bad, but it’s unknown who was selling them could be Amish could be English. God only really knows. So how someone can say the Amish miss treat their horses is not something that should be said really. I pray they both go on to have a beautiful life out there. Tfs ❤😊

Any Amish i ever met I was very impressed by. They make the best food, have the best little shops, restaraunts, rv park...., just very good people as a whole. Good family values, work ethic, excellent talents. We lived in Yoder, Kansas a few monrhs for work, and it was a great time because of the Amish. Lots of memories for my children from there. Im sure the people who had negative comments heard or seen 1 or 2 bad stories and nothing else to go by, to make such a statement. You cant group everyone together like that.
