Hello, I don't know if you can give me the measurements of the da Vinci catapult that you made, I need it to carry out a project and the design that you did seemed very useful.
I’m out of the shop and won’t be back for a few days so I can’t get you exact dimensions. To be honest though I don’t think there’s anything special about these dimensions. You just need to build a frame strong enough to support an axle. The dimensions of the spring arm will vary depending on the wood and draw specs. I’d suggest starting with a similar size piece of any decent bow wood and tillering it down. Even just a thin slat of wood would work here untillered.
A PVC bow is on my to-do list for yeats now. Still haven't found time to make it, though 🙄
Anyway, as I was watching many tutorial videos in the past, some makers use(d) glass fiber rods stuck inside the PVC tube to make the final bow stronger. However I have also remembered that there are at least 2 types of PVC tubes, and only one doesn't break and is suitable for bow making.
So watch out and check which one you need to buy.
Fiberglass rods in the pvc is a terrible way to increase draw weight. That’s the least mass efficient place to put working material. You can achieve any draw weight or length you want by simply adjusting the starting length and design or by using a different size of pipe
100% agree with Dan, fibergalass rods in the pvc add too much mass, and rub against the inside of the tube whenever you draw, wearing away the wall of the tubing on the inside. You can get pretty much any draw weight out of pvc if you do your math. I made a 80lbs longbow, and a 120lbs crosssbow out of 1" pvc, as well as plenty of 35-55 lbs bows from 3/4" pipe.
Why not cut it with scissors ✂️ when it’s hot ?

A longer bow would lower the draw weight but give you more margin for error and reduce stack. This one’s very short just to match the video game but in my other tutorials i recommend longer bows

This isn’t a very good design for an all wood bow. If you manage to make it, performance would be lousy compared to a simple, well designed all wood longbow

For a super short recurve bow with a long draw you almost have to use more than just wood. Normally a bow with that profile would use sinew on the back for certain and often horn on the belly.

So why don't you know about the Bow String Knot? said to be one of the oldest knots known to man. I when time avails will put up a video simple to tie and adjust delivers the string to absolute centre of the knot.
