    Excellent! You should make a series on tillering (all kinds, and all steps), that would be very nice and very useful. Thanks for sharing.

    All ya need to know re tillering string. Including the all-important guidance re how long to set your tillering string for long-string tillering. New bow builders really need to know about how long to set long string at. Also, it's great that ya carefully explain the "whys" of your recommends. ALSO, wrapping each bundle around something looks to be big help in keeping them untwisted. Thanks!!

    Dan, Just tie a bowline knot for your top loop. If you tie it correctly- very easy- it will never let go!!
    Quicker and much easier!!
    Keep up the good work.

      I’ve never had a timber hitch let go. I can tie and adjust a timber hitch a bit faster

    Wow! I've watched other tillering process that were good, but you have opened up a different way of looking at the tillering process...especially the concept when you first start out with a different perspective of how the back twist is used and then rolling into a bundle to help from getting twisted and tangled. Such a great video! Thanks!

    That cardboard wrapping idea is such a handy tip. Newbies need to do that! I’ve had to start again so many times from a big knot and tangle down the bottom of the loose ends from untwisting them soo many times

    😄👍 Serendipity, I'm tillering 2 bows currently, with a dismantled 3-ply jute rope. Nice beasties.

    In an earlier video you mentioned a beeswax, pine tar and olive oil mixture you put on drawknife handles. Do you have a video describing the mixing of such? I'm looking for a source of pine tar too.

    Hey Dan! Could I make a suggestion for a video?
    I'm really really enjoying all your content, absolutely chewing it all up.
    But while I notice that there's plenty of advice for tillering, I think perhaps you forget that your eye has a lot more experience than mine, and many other viewers.
    I'd like to ask you to put together perhaps some kind of tillering mega compilation - or something of that sort. A kind of "Look at this tiller - can you see the problem? Here's the problem." because as you've said in many videos, you just need to remove wood from areas that don't bend enough. It would just be GREAT to see more tillering, perhaps a little more explanation on how profile affects tiller, and such.
    Thanks for any time you take to read, or reply!

    Hi Dan, Do you ever make three ply bowstrings?

    • @DanSantanaBows

      With natural fibers. Using synthetics I don’t think it’s worth the extra work

    I have a question, i got a 1.3-1.5 meter piece of cherry. Thickest end around 10 cm and the other to 8 cm. And its alreadly slightly evenly curved. Do i need to bend it back to straight or keep it like that?

    • @DanSantanaBows
      @DanSantanaBows  Před 7 měsíci

      Is it reflex or deflex? Post some pictures on r/bowyer and I can give more solid advice.
      If slight reflex Id leave it. With mild deflex I’ll make a bow with flipped tips. If the bend is more than a few inches I’ll usually straighten it out or use other wood

    Hello, could you perhaps record a more detailed video about your table where you create bows? I'm interested in the dimensions and how the mechanism is made.

      See my video on workholding methods. The specific dimensions are not important but you can see in general how the vise works in that video

    Can i make arrow shafts out of chinaberry wood?

    • @DanSantanaBows
      @DanSantanaBows  Před 8 měsíci

      Pretty much any straight hardwood shoot can make a decent arrow shaft. But yes I’ve heard of chinaberry specifically being used
