You are the first person I've ever supported on patreon and thats because your videos are NEXT LEVEL. You are so informative, correct, and fun to watch. Thank you for all the hard work you do!! If you guys aren't yet supporters on patreon, consider throwing this guy at least a little bit each month!!
Man thank You so much!
I have some dreams to have a team of ppl in the future helping me so that this would be more sustainable and I could simple launch videos more often.
So any donation / patreon small or big is amazing since I can dump all of that back into this project!
And sometimes share with ppl who helped me on short term basis for now :)
i can't believe it, tomorrow I have to explain these knots to my scout group, I've already prepared my notes, but now I can integrate with this video, thanks!
Ahh have fun teaching ;)
How did it go?
@@cakeman1715 super! now I have my certification 🥳🥰

For a Mammut-sponsored video, this had an insane amount of ads. Given free rein, YT will litter your video with multiple ads every 60 seconds. Almost unwatchable.
Best knot video I've seen! Something to consider: If you use accessory cord as your chalk bag belt, you will always have a length of cord that you can use for a friction hitch in an emergency.
Yea that's a nice tip and thanks! Nice to read this!
Hey Ben! I’ve been a firefighter for over a decade and a majority of these knots and hitches are essential in our training and skill sets.
Just wanted to say that your instruction on these is exceptional. I wish I had you when I was in rookie school. Very masterful job. Even today after all my experience and years in, have never witnessed such a great teaching on these.
Thanks!
As a knot nerd, I think this video is one of the best in YT, easy to understand for beginners and absolutely correct in content. Keep it up my friend you are absolutely amazing.
You could tell that this guy has trusted his life with these skills.
I agree. I have watched 50 plus climbing knot videos and this is the best.🙂
fun story: I learned belaying with the munter hitch and didnt realize that it was really uncommon that people would not use a belaying device. When I moved cities and went to a new climbing gym I had to learn belaying again with an instructor. I would say everyone should learn how to use it in case of an emergency. With this hitch it is even more important to always keep your hand at the rope or else it wont stop.
nice...love the tidbit about the prussik being at minimum 3mm thinner than your main rope.
+1 for explaining when to poke your fingers through in order to grab and pull the figure 8 on a bight. You're not teaching knots, you're teaching how to tie knots, thank you.
Best knot teacher on CZcams !
I mean it. I’ve watched them ALL.
If you haven’t seen his magic figure 8 that’s easy to untie, go find that video.
I can’t believe video of such quality is available for free. Definitely best knot video out there. Straightforward, entertaining, easy to follow, professionally edited.
I'm almost 70 years old and have no inclination to climb but this was an excellent, enjoyable video to watch and I learned new ways to tie knots that I have tied for years. Well done.
This video is so instructive and fun to watch... I cane here looking for copper but found gold... I am new to this climbing world so there's so much to learn! And this kind of content is most of what a newbie like me needs! Amazing job!
As a new recreational tree climber.... this is the best video on knot tying I have come across.
How's the tree climbing? I have a huge tree in my backyard I'm thinking I might have a go at , after watching this video.
Sir, You are a true Master of knots and teaching them to others as well. Don't think there is anyone out there that can teach this as you do. Keep up the good work!
Greeting from Hong Kong. The best of knots tutorial CZcams ever. Made me know the structure of knot, Hard is Easy. Looking forward to your next knots tutorial. Have a great day, good climbing 😊
I congradulate you on a wonderful video, every person whether climber or not should watch this easy to follow, educational show. The training has been simplied so there is no need to spend countless hours learning the knots, I have learnt the Clove hitch using another technique and it works, but it took me dozens of times to perfect it. Your method can be learnt in minutes. This video may save someones life someday. Great Job, look forward to other videos.
btw, i was just playing around with the knots and techniques shown (thanks again! :) ) and when doing the scaffolding knot tying it around a something (the last method you show of it), its possible running the standing part of the rope through it with a bite, making it a quick release knot, instead of, as u point out, a knot that can be pretty difficult to get opened back up.
It might bring down the strength of the knot though, so everybody should think for themselves, and use it as it is fit.

Thanks for all the great content! Best climbing channel on youtube in my humble opinion. Keep up the good work!
Ah thanks a lot!
Great video. Can i add that as far as i'm aware a two turn (double overhand) stopper knot loop is called a poachers knot, a three turn (triple overhand) is called a scaffold knot.
A klemheist pulled upside down turns into a hedden hitch and works just as well, maybe slightly smoother in operation.
Technically correct, although I asked rope access people and they also call double as a scaffold for simplicity...
Very clear explanations. I use some of these knots when I set up a wild camp tarp & hammock. Thank you for showing another way to tie these.
The best knot-tying video I’ve seen. Aside from the how-to, this discusses the application part and the common errors to avoid. Well done. I’ve learned a lot! Thanks.
As a complete noob that’s trying to learn canyoning, this video series has been invaluable. Thank you
It contains all the basic or the most used applications of knots and, on top of that, beautifully and expertly explained. Thank you so much because, anyone who climb rarely or is a beginner can now easily refresh memory, on those climbing techniques, just in a few minutes. Good luck.
Honestly Ben, I want to hire you to be my teacher of literally aaaanything! If any teacher at any grade had half the charisma of transferring knowledge that you have, we would all be nuclear scientists! 😁 Once again, great video, thoroughly explained what is usually difficult to remember ;-)
Yes , I plan to practice tying these knots every evening just to learn the skills incase of an emergency.
You have the absolute best knot videos on CZcams!! Thankyou!!
Most clear explanation and demonstration of these knots I have seen! 😉👍👍
Most clear explanation and demonstration .
Sir , thank you so much .
Greetings from Sri Lanka .
Your training is saving lives and opening doors... Keep Ascending.
100% agree with some of the comments below - your instruction is crystal clear with good "catch phrases" to remind us knot guys how to tie the knot, you don't rush through anything and the video is very well done. Thank you for this, keep up the great work!
Hello Bro. Eish was explanation was as smooth at it could be. Thanks a lot for your "efforts" and for the quality of your teaching.
I have watched many many videos on climbing knots and this is one that finally stuck. Thank you!!! Your techniques are simplified very well, and have made my learning curve far less cumbersome.
Outstanding demonstration and explination with thorough description of applications as well.
Best video on nuts I ever seen. Thanks!
Great video as always! Never forget the number 2 rule 😂 is my fav! Regarding the “Italian Hitch” the flipping is a great way to check if the knot is correct or knot. Additional, to load testing before uncoupling your second protection
I really like the image of the hands making the knots, nice taste closing the colors it's a pleasure to watch 🥰
This is so informative and real simplified that even idiots like me will be able to do it. Thank you!
I love the VT prusik. Its not spoken of much but it's so great
Very easy to inderstand and simple basic knots..
Thank you
This is easily the best video I have come across on the subject. Damn. Thanks
I am a Sailor and sail instructor and you just gave me a few other ways of teaching the Clove Hitch! Great video!
Ah thanks! Maybe one day I should expand my knot vocabulary and learn something from Sailing :D
The absolut best knot video I have ever seen. Very good explanations! Thank you very much for this!
19:00 I read in knot reference book that you can also wrap a carabiner along with the rope when making a Klemheist (with the flat side of the carabiner next to and parallel to the rope). Then when the Klemheist is finished, you can use the carabiner as a handle to move the Klemheist knot up and down along the rope.
Thanks for sharing your expertise!
Thanks for sharing ur knowledge. It was very understandable. More power to you...
That was the best intro to knots video I have seen! I have tried to teach very simalir concepts to our members at the FD and now I have a great video to add to our trainings. Please keep making more content!!
A great super-practical use of a double fisherman knot is to make a belt out of utility cord for your chalk bag. This way, if you are in a pinch, you can remove your chalk bag, and you are left with some cord. Especially useful if you, like me, have a habit of dropping your autoblock :)
How are you gonna remove the chalk bag from you?
Square knot is a good one to know for tieing quickly something and untieing easy :)
@@HardIsEasy the great thing about a double fiserhmans is that it slides by moving the two knots away from each other. So i just step into the loop, and tighten! you only need to actually remove it if you are in a pinch!
@@SincerelyBradley yeah but for something intended to be untied, there's better knots than the double fisherman's, Double fisherman's tends to cinch up on itself really hard.
@@HardIsEasy I do this with my chalk bag and tend to use an overhand bend. I find it holds better than a square knot, which can loosen when it's not under tension and the overhand bend is easy to untie since it doesn't get tightened too hard when used with a chalk bag.
@@SincerelyBradley I'm "knot" sure that this makes sense. You cannot secure the loop at a shorter length without retying one of the double overhands. Also, why are you explaining how the knot works to the guy who just made an excellent video about how the knot works?
I'm predicting future stardom for you. You have a manner and some other qualities that make you fun to watch. I watched this whole video and there is NO chance that I'm going to get into climbing. I'm a 71 year old cancer survivor. Even if I wanted to I couldn't get in shape to climb.
Thanks for sharing, your explanation is so clearly!!!
Great video.
I’m off to my Global Wind Organisation basic safety training tomorrow which includes working at height and height rescue.
Your video explains almost all the knots I need to know in an easy to understand way.
Thanks!
Thank you for this video. The clove hitch that you show with one hand is amazing. Learned it from a Petzl instruction sheet. The Münter is also possible: so instead of grabbing the opposite strand, grab the front strand in the same manner and it becomes a münter. Q: Hitches for rappel, above the tuber or below the tuber? I have my reasons for preferring one way over the other.
Love your instructional style. Very clear and detailed, excellent work!
Yes I like how he shows the safety of getting the knots right , and demonstrates too , Excellent video
Absolutely brilliant video...great selection of knots and even better demonstration of how to tie them. Great narration and easy to follow (and remember) method of how to select the best knot for the proper application.
Great video as always! Keep it up! Super informative and very easy to follow (at least coming from someone who already knows all of them). I will be suggesting this to anyone who asks me about knots when I don't have time to teach them myself!
Very good explanations, specific to climbing, thanks a lot ! Suggestions for the next one : bowline and butterfly loop, both used a lot for mountaineering.
Absolutely amazing video and very well taught. Ty!!!
Love your videos, very informative and much better than the way i was taught. Cant wait for some more advanced rigging videos!
Thanks for this amazing series. I hope there are more videos to come!
Well done. Like always. Keep the Challenge going.

I love the video! I plan on making a few knot videos explaining some the same knots! I enjoy watching others explain their versions of the same knots 🪢 thank you for sharing!

Thanks for sharing.
Been loving this series✋👍
Top quality explanations!
Thanks for all the great content! You are my online climbing bible 😄
Thanks for the video... learned some great stuff.
Superb video. Better than most. Many thanks.
thank you so much for the knots, such an easy way to remember them.
just finished watching all the episodes on the masterclass so far, really amazing in depth but easy to grasp stuff. this has really elevated my understanding of how everything works and will help me climb and belay with more confidence but at the same time be a lot more aware of potential dangers i had no idea existed before.
I feel like youd have to pay an instructor a lot to learn all of this stuff and even then it would need to be a dream instructor for them to go into this level of depth and make it so digestible, so honestly really appreciate this.
I joined ur channel for a bit to say an extra thanks 🙏
Wow thank you so much, I have lots of more episodes coming for this playlist ;)
you're a very good instructor thank you for sharing your knowledge this is by far the best and most useful knot video I have seen
Thank you . Great video

Best video about knots ever! Thanks!!!!
Great video. Thanks.
