Canon Masterclass - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Always appreciate your detailed breakdowns...on cameras I can't afford. Yet!
Are you homeless?
Thanks Gerald! You'll get there and be broke like the rest of us :)
Great video as always my dude
Where did you find that monitor mount? I'm always apprehensive about mounting my monitor to a cold shoe but it looks like that one you're using also screws into place. I think it's brilliant and super clean looking. Also excellent video, I appreciate what you do
Digging your monitor placement. Thanks for another great video brother.
Any time!
This is a great video and I am looking forward to your master class. You hit the nail spot on... I moved from a Canon 1DX Mark ii and only shot maybe 2 hours of video with the camera and decided to start learning more about film. It was a toss between the Red (Komodo) and the C70. Coming from a DSLR, this transition was much easier than i had expected. Plus having access to 6 lens' already... It was a bit of a no brainer.
I did pair my camera up with 2 news lens' - 1. Canon CN-E 18-80 T 4.4 Compact Servo and also the CN-E 70 - 200mm Compact Servo. They work really well with this camera from what i can tell... but they are wayyyyyy to heavy for the Ronin RS2 Gimbal.
Again, thanks for the review and look forward to the master class.
It's not a quirk. It's called a focal reducer because it is reducing the focal length of your lens. It's not doing anything to the sensor. You should be thinking about that when you use it - "this is changing the optics of my lens and reducing the focal length from 35 to 24". Canon is right to change the focal length info when you use it. And if you wanted to match FOV between a Super 35mm sensor and FF sensor without a focal reducer, that's what you'd do - put a 35 on the FF and a 24 on the Super 35.
Do you have any confidence they might add external RAW with an update or upgrade?
Your lighting abs video quality is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks! This is the first time I’ve uploaded in 4K.
@@Crimsonengine I like the lighting especially the separation , the background has this beautiful warm feel then the subject is lit very well and soft ,
@@Crimsonengine I was gonna ask about the 4k. Right on.
Another information parked and easy to digest content, thanks. Hope we are going to get a Canon C70 Master Class soon. I hope am not asking for too much....just a fan boy's wish. Cheers.
Cheers! Working on it as we speak
Great. Seriously looking forward to it.
Great content! How does overall image quality compare to Sigma FP?
Hi thanks for the great video! Just wondering about the speed booster... I know only three EF lenses are "approved" by Canon to work fully at the moment with it. How have you found the DPAF to be on lenses that aren't on Canon's list? I have a 35mm and 85mm 1.4 L that I'm very curious if will have workable AF with the speed booster.
I have the Speedbooster on my c70 and am using a bunch of Sigma primes and there are no issues at all. The compatibility is more for distortion correction
85 1.4 here. Works wonderfully.
great review! one question about the gimball use: I want to use it on a ronin S but on the internet i read that i have to buy a special plate that uses counter weights? It says it is because of the odd shape and weight distribution of the c70. Did you do anything special to balance the c70 on your gimbal?
Hi may I ask what’s the rig setup, the cold shoe top handle adapter
Do you think this is a good B camera for the C 500 mark 2 or do you think the newb1DX or Komotobwould be better? And what lense would you recommend using with the C 70 on a stabilizer? Thank you for the video.
Agree with you regarding the weak LCD. I have both the c70 and R5. The R5 screen looks amazing next to the potato quality of the c70 screen.
Curious, did you try +2 luminance on the monitor when using outdoors? I found it was much better, like the C300/C500, when shooting outdoors.
I did! Its bright but not blinding. The main issue is the size.
Thanks for the insights - very useful ☺️ I also prefer a top mounted screen - would you mind sharing what top handle and external monitor you used in this video? Thanks
Sure thing! Its the SmallHD focus 5: amzn.to/3tkxfRw
Thank you 🙏🏻 🙌🏻
What monitor are you using on the C70?
Another great video.
Hi Rubidium - thanks for a great review - what SmallHD is that you're using? Would you recommend or an Atomos?
I prefer the smallHD. Atamos and Blackmagic are both recorders as well and are heavier and have less battery life as a result.
@@Crimsonengine Thanks! I've just bought the C70 and, you're right I need a screen - ! can't afford the SmallHD right now - any experience with the Andycine 6plus V2
Great video, thanks ! If you had to recommand one lens for the C70, between the 15-35 RF 24-70 RF and 24 - 105 RF, what would it be.. ? :)
I'm not the guy to ask about RF glass since I don't own any. I use the 24-70mm 2.8 EF as my run and gun lens. Its served be well for 10 years now :)
Thanks for the practical info (weight balance) We are planning for this camera, and Covid has slowed us...which allows for better knowledge and prep before jumping in.
thank you for this video. what do you think about the canon c200? you advise which camera between a canon c70 and canon c200 for documentary?
Definitely c70. No contest.
Okay question. You just said with an RF speed booster you can effectively have full frame. Can you link to or elaborate on this speed booster because the only one I have seen converts EF to RF and does that. I got this camera today and with my 15-35mm RF lens it looks like a 24mm or something. I really do hope there is a way to get my ultra wide back!
By RF speedbooster, I mean the RF to EF .71. Sorry to get your hopes up :)
Thanks for another great video! Any chance you’ve created a lut to match the c200 clog3 to the c70? I would buy that in a heartbeat!! Thanks!
Good news: Raw on the c200 and Clog2 422 on the C70 should match right out of camera. They're the same color profile.
@@Crimsonengine Good to know! I shoot a lot of interviews though so RAW isn't practical. I've tried to make a LUT myself to VERY limited success!! Haha!
You can output any grade in resolve as a lut :)
Hi, thanks for the review. Itching to get my hands on one of these - 3rd link down (Products: @t) appears to be broken.
Sidebar. Any potential that you're going to do a masterclass on the R5? I know it's not a cine camera but I think a good number of people are using it at as a B/fly cam. I have a C200 and an R5 and would be interested in a masterclass on the R5.
That's the next one I'm working on!
What monitor are you using?
If you were buying your first cine cam in 2021 would you go c70 or c200b? (assuming c200 can be had used for about half the price)
If cost is an issue, then c200 for sure.
Nice warm setup
Thanks!
Where can I get that handle?
I was using one on set about a week ago, and I could not figure this out…is there a way to output a LUT via HDMI?
Nope. You can have to use a monitor that allows you to load in your own lut
I've had the false colour sent over the hdmi when I didn't want it, you can set it in the menu.
Yes, but the issue is that if you’re using a lut on your monitor, you need to disable it before you enable false color. I found recreating it on the small hd to be easier.
@@Crimsonengine Yeah that's true. I do the same when using the monitor actually.
Thanks for the review :) What’s the top handle you’ve got on it? Need a solution to mount a 7” monitor.
Thats small rig flash shoe top handle with monitor mount
Its the small rig nato handle with this attachment: amzn.to/3thoWWE - I don't like the cold shoe handles - they don't seem solid
@@Crimsonengine cheers bud
@@Crimsonengine I mounted a small rig nato mini rail on top of the cold shoe with a longer screw but this solution looks more solid. Thanks for the share!
I usually don’t purchase classes but the C70 master class definitely looks interesting - by the way - I just love my C70 👍
What's your favorite part of it so far? I'm really close to pulling the trigger...
@@charliehilbrantfilms4491 just love how compact everything is and very simple to setup and use 😀
Hi. I liked very much your video on C70. I have been using it recently but very disappointed with its Face Autofocus, since I never expected this to be case. Any suggestions that you may have to overcome this please advice, as this is my first cinema camera.
Yakooth Naleem
I used that logo audioclip when I was 13 back in 2008. lol
How do I find your masterclass
www.canonmasterclass.com
Autofocus is not excellent, it's actually horrible. Did you test it with run and gun work/ tracking shots?
Tried it with face tracking and object tracking and haven't had an issue. This is with EF lenses through the .7 converter. What issues have you had?
Compared to an R5 or R6 it’s not nearly as capable, but as a doc style camera, used for interviews and the like, the autofocus is good to very good, provided the sensor has enough light.
Superb rundown of the C70. And thanks to Canon Live Chat for explaining the new lens adapter: www.canon.co.uk/live-chat/?
"2 Lines of Description. Use popular keywords on the topic.
"
You might need to update the description for this video! ;-)
Sorted. Thanks :) attention to detail isn’t my strong suit
Nice video as usual but i disagree that the C70 is made as a B Camera.
🙏🏾
My "day job" is feature film BTS - this looks perfect. Thx
They had you in mind :)
So I just went down the rabbit-hole and made the connection between the name Rubidium and Crimson Engine
What is the connection?
I disagree with you putting red as pro cinema camera and C70 beginner camera.soon I will be posting footage with 70 soon will take down any red komodo footage on CZcams.
Honestly the lines are so blurred it doesn’t matter what you shoot with nowadays. Just focus on making good content and that’s it
Welcome to the Broke People Hub
PS am not broke at all but that’s what I see when I jump to his comment section...just saying
all cameras are the same, trust me, big or smalll censor, the only thing that count is yo computer and the software u use for edit and ofcose yo graphic card, and yo lighting
