- IS THIS THE BEST TARP SHELTER? Learning new setups in 2020 every time I go out is what I do. Everyone has his or her preferred method and though I am a tree dweller I still enjoy the odd ground camp.
Tarps are amazing and versatile allowing you do a number of tarp setups.
This is a typical ground shelter but with a little added thought on the front.
The second paracord ridge line just torques the tarp tight and lifts it to create a perfect slope to allow the water to glow backwards.
This was Alan’s setup but he is still new to wild camping do I helped him set this up, he got a cot bed that I think is awesome and as much has people mock wild campers for using them, if it helps you and encourages you to get out then why not. His self inflating sleep mat and cot bed was from Aldi and a review will soon follow. We had a awesome time with stunning views and lots of great food. Three friends wild camping, doing reviews and tutorials, I even got a chance to talk about wild campers and the stigma around camping with permission. Land owners and the public in general have a misunderstood idea about us and I hope that my little talk can envisage land owners to be more accepting towards us. Bushcrafters and wild campers have a ethos of carting and looking after the environment, we have a leave no trace
Rule that most stand by and practice.

Aldi got some good stuff normally. Nice set up. Looks like you had a great weekend. Did you say you relaxed too much. I think your like me mate, feel lazy if your not being productive all of the time. We need to relax more. Nice video mate and great to see what you have been up to.

Self inflating mat will help with cold from underneath the cot bed.
Hammock could be deployed on the ground? My DD one can.

It’s a standard DD 3x3 tarp pal
ABOVE THE LAW yes it is the DD tarp is light and compact, however the cot bed is bulky, if you not got far to hike than yes it would be ok. The inflatable sleep mat is totally awesome and has big as a British army roll mat so that could easily go on your pack.
