- Abandoned Sandbar Drafthouse & Grill - Erie, PA. A staple in the community for many years right near the entrance to Presque Isle State Park. This bar and restaurant had a lot of business and welcomed locals and visitors alike to enjoy a meal and/or a drink. Closed and taken by the township to redevelop the area as well as the surrounding properties.

Before it was the Sandbar, it was The Charcoal Pit. A high end restaurant, and across the street was Howard Johnsons. We're talking like the 50's, 60's and 70's.
You got to start packing a lunch so that you don't leave hungry all the time.
I can still remember years ago when it was the sweet water grill. Great food and service.
Yea Wally 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 another cool video.. blast from the past
Absolutely love these videos
This intersection seems like another downtown Niagara Falls, NY in the making. The township probably has dreams of an overpriced tourist trap, and those ventures always work out *so* well...
Thanks for showing us this place wallie.
I used to play gigs there fairly frequently. I concur with you, not my favorite place ever. Wasn’t ideal for live music (or ideal in general) but some fun was had nonetheless. One less music venue is always sad even if the place was mid.
A Long long time ago this was Presilos Restaurant in the 50s 60s and 70s. Was still there when I moved out of Erie in 1980. It was a very respectable restaurant with piano music. My family went there after church for dinner. Across the street was Howard Johnson’s restaurant.
This particular area of PA reminds me of an area of my home state of WI, namely the easternmost part of it in Door County. It too relies heavily on tourism as there are only a few hundred people who live right in the many little towns in said county, which leads to it also being an area where it’s mostly a summer area. Surprisingly though, even after covid, all the towns in the area have been quite bustling but I can only imagine how dead they all are in the winter just like this part of Erie.
Awesome Thanks for Sharing Stuff Wallie Hope You Enjoyed the Weekend.
Noooo I had no idea it was abandoned! I’ve been here a few times and always enjoyed it. It’s been there for a long time.
This abandoned place looks a little eerie!
"revitalize the area" is erie code for another waldameer parking lot
My favorite cover band, Crystal Shit, did a Doors show here some years ago.
I was wondering about that when I was up there. Looks like they could repurpose the sand bar. Take care brother
Awesome Wallie
there going to level it and the old k mart is a lot now shouts outs from Erie Pennsylvania
Awsome video thanks sharing the video buddy :)
Cool video brother! Always enjoy the content
With them redevelopment across from that cemetery and next to it with the new stuff they want to build they may have a lot of ghost stories with the new places maybe
I remember puking off the patio one night there. Must’ve been 2014 ish
Cool video man
My Grandparents Own The Place. Kum (the owner of the place) died in 2015 and Gary (the owner) does not want the bar anymore. I used to go there. with Gary,
Such a shame, what happened to them. I've often thought about it the same way... if my life had been flipped upside down like their's had, I'd want to forfeit the dream as well. Best to your family!
yea, gary is planning to use the money to go to florida
also i have the sign @@pazzo4thelost
This could be a really cute little diner
Always enjoy these videos and it is a shame that a county or city buys up these places to revitalize things and does nothing after they close up the busineses what a shame
It's a shame when places like this close and just become dilapidated messes. It's worse when it's some place unique that made a city or area different from another.
It was a nice place. Good wings and live bands
Great video! 💕😊 Going to the beach is so fun on a hot summer day! I would love to go get in the cool water and just cool off.Thank you so much for an awesome video! I enjoyed watching.
I think the cemetery behind you is more livier than the sandbar😅
You don't want to know the reason why this bar went downhill. Very sad ending for the family that owned it. It will be torn down.
Gee, I didn’t know that shut down, too.
Good video! Thanks! for showing us, this place!
Are back in Erie
Hey Wallie, I have heard of this place in California! Sounded cool in it’s hay days. To bad it closed and hopefully they do reopen sometime. It’s too bad one of the last time last you went the staff was rude to you. Customer service isn’t always an easy business to be in! It’s also hard to find good workers these days with all the cancel culture and bull that’s going on the world as well. I look forward to your next video!
Awesome video wallie hope your having a great weekend bro 👍
I remember when it was Priscilla's. Used to be a good restaurant.
Interesting video. Thanks.
I always wondered why it was abandoned it was popular. I also have a question, what happened to the grill place that across from it? And did you do a video of it?
I like all your videos I watch them all the time you should’ve did the one at the hotel to That be nice great videos
Hey!
As always great video. 👍
Abandoned Hardee’s in Fayetteville nc on skibo rd
Check out the old Franklin middle school in vallejo California which closed in 2020 still abandoned
Awesome video
I'm pretty sure Erie would try to get rid of the cemetery or make it into some type of pay to attend attraction if they could get away with it.
It's not in Erie, Millcreek Township bought the whole corner for 7 million for redevelopment. Erie Cemetary Association runs the cemetery, you buy a plot, die, and get buried and they keep it tidy.
It was all bought by millcreek township
They bought the belaire hotel too
I only spend $10 at Buc-ees on my birthday.
It’s an old school house they will be saving that
this is kinda of the same thing that has been happening with seattle. they randomly take over property and slap on a proposed land use action on it then leave the people with nowhere to go. they then demolish the old building and build up more expensive apartments and condos or some huge office building that no one can afford to rent. there are others that have been run out cause of the cost of rent in seattle is so huge its not worth it. and to live in seattle comfortably you have to make around oh say 110,000 to 150,000 or more before taxes to be able to live in seattle at all. the minimum amount needed to make per hour is around 60 bucks an hour and thats working high end tech jobs or some corporate jobs or by selling houses or cars to be able to afford to live there. oh sure there are a few affordable places but even then they are little studio apartments or even just a bedroom size room for rent and thats not good. the nicer apartments or bigger ones you have to shell out for to even live comfortably sadly.
czcams.com/video/sKx0vUP1HDk/video.html This Video Is To Anyone Who Is Wondering What Happened To The Signs/Stuff To The Sandbar.
and i also have the sign that they took off
perfect.did you ever went to a cicis?
Maybe we should just use this for free food bank for homeless people and adoption centers for homeless patients who need help with their mental health issues and everything
Dick's sporting goods moved into a brand new store in erie Pennsylvania into the Millcreek Mall into the former bon-ton and now the old dick's sporting goods is empty and Christmas tree shops is also empty and the old empty dick's sporting good was located in the same plaza as the former Christmas tree shops next to that library near DSW shoe warehouse outside the mall.
The owners wife got killed a long time ago .. the husband kind of lost it ..
Hello friend wallie, isn't eerie Indiana where the TV show I know My name is Earl took place ???? , and did they film any of the TV show in that town for real ???? Love you like family and may God bless you and your family always hope to hear back from you soon thanks my friend ❤🎉🎉🏠🏡💋💩🪰🛒🚕⛽🤯😇🙏🌞📱😋🧬🧪🌡️🛺⛽
For a little while the owner was letting original bands play there. There were some decent attendance but the place was poorly ran and unfortunately at the end the owners business practices got pretty crappy.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
It’s going to be demoed
hi wallie cool find WHATS YOUR PIN SAY
What a shame I didn't get to see the inside and eat there and see if the men's room was renovated or if it had new toilets, lighting, or a new exhaust fan and now I'll never get to use the men's room ever again and now they're tearing it down, I did not have the opportunity to go there when it was sand bar and i didn't know they were going to go out of business. they smoked in there so I don't think my family or friends would enjoy it at all so I never went and I don't know how to drive and the bus doesn't go there and I would have to pay for transportation and I live in a group home and I'm not allowed anywhere without my staff because its the policy of the Dr. Gertrude A. Barber national institute which owns the group homes and couldn't figure out how to go inside without people blowing smoke in my face and I don't smoke and I don't want to get second hand smoke and end up on an oxygen mask(oxygen tank on wheels) because then I can't go swimming because once I end up on an oxygen mask I would need it all the time 24hours 7 days a week 12 months a year and then I also can't go on waterslides or amusement rides because oxygen tanks are not allowed on them second hand smoke is as just as bad as smoking or worse and when it first opened I was under 21 and they would have restricted me from certain dining rooms or mens rooms or unisex restrooms under 21 if there was one in the bar part and now I'm 32 years old and now I'll never legally be allowed in because it's condemned and unsafe and trashed and even if the landlord had a key to it to let me in and look at it there would be no utilities, no electricity so the fans and air conditioners heaters won't work and the toilets and urinals won't work so there would be no bathrooms and now it's uninhabitable to set foot in and it would be unlivable. I only been there when it was Scorcher's and I loved it there and had good memories there but sadly it closed in 2006. I'm going to miss it, I miss Scorcher's. I was a kid when I went to scorcher's and the last couple times I went was when I was a teenager, my parents use to take me to scorcher's until they went out of business and now I'll never get to see the renovations and now I'll never see the inside of the whole entire inside or the bathroom or the fans or electrical outlets or electrical stuff or vents again so now ill never experience the new look in the building and I wish they would split the building into portions and move the building and put it the sections back together on a different land instead of tearing it down because I been there since I first moved to Erie Pennsylvania or maybe the second year, what a shame 😥. And also I hope they don't start charging a fee to go to Presque Isle state park and beaches.
They're going to be destroyed
this place was already going downhill and the owner was a complete drunk. This was not a well run place at all since the owner died!!
As of may 2024 it is torn down & is now a vacant lot along with Joe Roots Grill & Manor Motel.........Millcreek Pa is a joke
7th
