This was lovely, and much needed. Lost my mom on 6.2.2020 to COVID. Can’t tell you how many times I blasted the records you did with Phil while she drove me somewhere thru the suburbs. To hear this song today, and to hear you unwrap it, was a dear and heartfelt comfort, that I didn’t expect or know that I needed. Thank you, good sir. This was beautiful.
Condolences, JM.
So sorry about your mom.
Holding you in the light... always remember the love and know that it is always with you. 🙏✌️
so sorry for your loss
Watching you groove to this classic track was awesome ...I could feel every note and emotion...thanks!
Thanks Leland! Hands up who remembers this in Miami Vice.
Leland, I've been following you now for a few months and I feel like I just need to say something to you. In my opinion, you give us, your viewers and fans, far more in the way of honest humanity and compassion than what we give you. Your love and compassion for your fellow man and woman seems to know no bounds. I missed you last summer at the Vancouver Island Musicfest, but I sincerely hope that you return to the Comox Valley with your band and that I get an opportunity to see you and appreciate you and your bandmates live. You set an example not only for bass players to follow on a musical level, but you also set an example on a human level for everyone to follow. Because of you, the world we all live in is a better place. Cheers, and stay safe. Best wishes to you and your loved ones, including Marcello & Rossano. MGH
Agree. What a good man. Exemplary compassion, and really fulfilling a function in this time. Anyway, well-expressed, thank you.
@@tuskedbeast We're kindred spirits. Thanks.
Hear, hear!
Hear hear
I hadn't heard that song in over 30 years and had forgot just how good it is. Phil has that ability to capture an emotion or mood in song. It's a talent that I believe most of the great songwriters possess, being able to write from the heart and not the head. Thanks Lee for these great uploads.
I don't say this lightly: You're the kind of guy I wouldn't mind loaning my tools. ;-)
I know what you mean, your a guy after my own heart. And I will use this quote in my summing up of people I come across . Thanks
Phil Collins should be in Rock n Roll Hall on his own.
Absolute truth. One of the greatest drummers of all time, influencing the sound of many. Played drums for several top artists. A far better singer than people realize. It's hard to come up with many more influential artists in the 80s, etc. etc. etc.
Matthew Butler he was a radio staple for over 20 yrs
@@DC-ih8bv Absolutely
Some of the most recognizable songs in the past 30 yrs. The man has so much history in music. Smh idk
Gosh, I love this song. This kinda atmosphere goes so deep. It’s really touching. Soul music ♥️ very interesting insight to the studio work. Thanks for that!
One of the best songs of No Jacket Required Album! ❤️🎧
Hey Mr Sklar let's hit the 100k today/tomorrow!!
He’s at 100k
100k subscribers! Thanks so much for everything you do, Leland.
Stunning and I love Phil Collins, his sublime voice. Thanks Leland you're THE BEST too.
"Long long way to go" is still one of my favourite songs from "No jacket required", apart from "Take me home"! 👍😀
Thank you for sharing your talent with the WORLD its a blessing and I can hear and almost pick out your style in all ur different music examples.
My favorite Phil Collins song
One of my absolute favorite Phil tracks.
I can’t help just hearing after that abrupt end of “switch it off” the immediate intro of I Don’t Wanna Know. Every time!
I loved falling asleep to this song when I was a kid.
I was just thinking that....although in my case it was falling asleep in college.
me tooo! fantastic song
Everyone: "Nobody can play an entire concert without making at least 1 blunder...." Lee Sklar: "Hold my beard"..... This guy is the best. Not to mention an awesome human being.
You know, I never knew the name of this song... One of my first loves into what I called rock music and Phil Collins was my maitre d'nuit. 80's rock was jarring for my country mind, but it was a guarantee that one song would put me, under if it was Phil.
I still remember this song on the radio at night while laying in my pitch dark room and listening to this song... He'd say turn it up, I'd turn it up because i was entranced by the feel of this song! My dad would come down the hall to open the door just as I turned it down, *"turn it down!"*
It went on for a couple of times and finally, he made it sound like he left the door...
He opened it and asked, "did you just turn your radio up?," "No sir."
Then Phil says, *"Turn it up..."*
My dad says, *"TURN IT OFF."*
He would let me finish this song at my volume if I to promise to turn it off. Nuit
I never would have thought a CZcams channel would have me recalling the joys of my own life... Phil's music really is best in a dark room!
That's one of my favourite Phil Collins songs! Thank you Lee for this wonderful video!
Congrats on reaching 100,000 subscribers Leland!
I love this song!! ...Reminds me of its classic neo noir use in "Miami Vice." Thanks Leland.
That was beautiful. Phil's songs have such a unique sound between the bass and drums that's instantly identifiable, yet it's hard to describe. This is reminiscent of "Another Day in Paradise" to me, a really introspective feeling that carries an almost physical weight. Geoffrey Oreyma's "Makambo" has a similar sense of heaviness.
I'm getting addicted to these things, man. I keep catching myself moving my head back and forth with you. I'm so glad you started this. Cheers!
Awesome amazing. I love you GrandPa. Perfect
Dear Lee, you make me fly with this song. My dad gave me that tape for my seventh or eighth birthday and I wasn't listening to it from then on. Simply beautiful and atmospheric.
Phil and Sting did this at Live Aid. One of his best songs I think.
Thank you to all essential and healthcare workers also every other person who helps people out. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
The story I was waiting for... Finally!

Like James before me, I haven't heard this in a very long time but it was one of my favorites on the album. So haunting then....and now. What a perfect song to break down for us today, Leland. "Long Long Way" brings on a whole new meaning for us in 2020. Thank you for re-introducing this song and taking time out of your day to provide these nuggets behind the curtain.
