    Many tips please read:
    The poison sprayers are doing something. They are OP against shields and do damage in their whole "spray".
    !!! you want to make sure to place them somewhere they can fire in a straight line to maximize their effectiveness. (flame tower too) !!!
    The reason you don't see the poison icon is because the 80 poison/sec is too fast.
    Oogie spawns on the longest path, as long as that isn't the path you most recently expanded.
    You usually want to destroy shields first, then armor, then health
    A good tactic is to make a kill zone where all paths gather to make the towers most useful.
    Universities are OP. Try to start using them around lvl 25
    Lookout tower is also insane: it adds the multipliers to all towers attacking the target. Since total damage is calculated using multiplication... yeah you get it.
    Be sure to upgrade the towers near your tower manually since they can't really level by themselves.

    An issue with getting this many towers is you're splitting your upgrades across too many options resulting in each of them being weaker. The best choice is to stick with just 2 or 3 towers and heavily invest into those so they stack up upgrades.

    Watching RCE play is equally as infuriating as it is entertaining.
    Shredder blades follow the route of the enemy they hit.
    Dark grey is shield.
    White/cream is armour.
    Each block of health/shield/armour is 100 until lvl16 when they become 1000.
    Lvl16 is the level after Oogie #1, and the shields start after that.
    If you want to make lvl 45, you need to make tower groupings. Three or four shredders together is far better than spread out and etc for other towers.
    Explosives and burn are for armour.
    Ballistic damage and bleed is health.
    Lasers and poison are for shield, minus the obelisk.
    Despite this, ANY tower can be made to attack any of the three and I find this necessary for victory.
    Example: I always have mortar groups and some radars set for most shield, and manually upgrade them to do so.
    Last note: on lvl 0, I surround the houses by my tower, even if they'll be nearly useless, as the money over time is well worth it, and is given at each round start. I sometimes swap them with radars and other long range towers later on. And only directly adjacent, same altitude towers count for houses, same as crystals. Diagonals and double stacks don't work.
    Good'ay

  • @Incubuna
    @Incubuna Před 2 lety +14

    It also makes sense to expand strategically in a way that you have short paths and long paths. This will spread the enemy numbers over a longer period of time and will not overwhelm your defences. I also like to place mortars and canons all over the map so they already reduced the shield and armor to zero when the enemies reach the death zone.
    I remember the difference between shield and armor by saying "knight with the shining armor" meaning armor is the shiny yellow/golden colour.

    One thing I learn is dont be too many upgrade cards as it clog up and may not get upgrades you want. Also at the start, place ballistas immediately next to the houses as you get gold from them and if you do it early, by the time you get to like lvl25+ your total income percentage will be quite high. You can buy a lot of upgrade cards - but in a run, don't buy a lot of towers. The one exception to 'don't buy a lot of cards' is if you want specific towers to show. Tower cards can clog rewards, but only really matters if you want a specific one. As long as you don't unlock the tower, subsequent cards don't clog your hand.

    Alright, about damage over time
    There's bleed, burn and poison, and bleed only deals full damage to health, burn - to armor and poison - to shields, if it deals damage to a wrong thing, it will still decay like usual but will only deal half the damage
    So it is more rational to put something that deals poison damage at the start to take down shields quicker

    Enjoyed your last video and got the game. Finished the single and the double lane defense.
    Tips learned from playing the game:
    -Get radar because they can rip through the bosses like paper. One is enough to kill Oogie.
    -Make a kill zone and put frost keeps near them. It slow them down and gives more time to kill them.
    -Get the mana bank and mana generation upgrades early because you're going to use many weapons that use mana.
    -Poison, flame and shredder together because you get an upgrade where you can deal extra damage if the enemy is bleeding, burning or poisoned.
    Loving the series and can't wait wait for your next video.😍

    Got this game and I’ve been loving it. Smashed through the single lane but double and triple get incredibly hard. Tips: late game the mana banks are unbelievable. With the cards that give you x% of your max mana a second, the mana banks increase your max mana and it stacks so if you get a handful of mana banks, your max mana can break 1000-2000 and you’re getting 200-300 mana a second. Unbelievable
    Edit: the only issue with putting the encampments towards the tower is that they won’t consistently do damage and thus they get really under leveled. To keep them as a good last line of defense you have to dump money into upgrading them consistently

    This game is dangerously addictive, thanks for introducing me to it!
    A few tips to throw at you: green = health, white = armor, blue = shield. Part of the problem you ran into towards the end of this run was that you confused the shields with armor and started stacking the wrong damage type. I'd also really recommend watch towers if you use obelisks, since watchtowers boost the damage (per hit!) against the targets they mark, and obelisks have a high rate of fire. Just set the obelisk's priority to 'marked' to ensure they attack the watchtower targets. :)

    @jacobpaige741 Před 2 lety

    I'd also recommend the Respec mod. It lets you refund all your card choices and only pick the ones you plan to use plus enough to get upgrades every level, which drastically reduces deck bloat. Since you only get enough upgrade chances to max out ~1.5 towers if you're lucky, this can drastically increase your win rate.
    Also, take some time to study the upgrade tree. The upgrades you have access to follow the same pattern as the tree. So, if you upgrade Ballista health damage, you get access to a slowing effect on all your Ballista attacks, armor leads to range increases, and shield leads mana infused bolts, while they all lead to +15% crit for each line. Its worth looking at each of the trees and memorizing where the upgrades you truly care about are.
    Mana banks should always be taken if you can. You'll basically always need them. They increase both your mana regen and your max mana, which synergizes fantastically with Sorcery and Life Steal (which is unlocked by Sorcery). In my last run, I had over 150 mana/sec thanks to this and Savings Account (unlocked by Mana Bank), which allowed me to magically empower all my ballistas twice and have as many particle cannons as my I wanted, plus several more because I had to much money and nothing to do with it ;)
    That poison card that gave 5% slow that you passed up to take the Mine (I think) is one of the best cards in the game since it can be gotten relatively early and any weapon can be made to do poison damage.
    When you get universities, remember to get at least the first two scholarship cards, and to specialize each university. Each one gets the chance listed for each stat at the start of every turn, and the odds of success are slightly higher if each university is specialized than if they're all generalized.
    I'd also recommend ditching mines and haunted houses. They're not useless, but they're close enough to it that its not worth the massive deck bloat as each one adds several more cards to your deck if you select them.

    paths splitting is actually a good thing, it lets you plan out your defenses better by placing more towers to defend from paths with more branches because those paths will have more enemies. The enemies per level get split out evenly to all paths leading into the map, if you want an area to have fewer enemies, try to expand other paths first.
    Also, yellow is armor, blue is shields.

    If you hold shift after selecting a tower or building, you can place multiples without having to reselect the building. Diversify your damages by tower, rather than upgrading one tower to do a little more of a type if you can. Shredder does bleed/health, which prevents health regen, Poison tower does poison/shields and prevents shield regen, and Flame thrower does fire/armor and prevents armor regen. Mortars are also great AoE and do massive armor damage. Use your priorities to target the damage type, or play to strengths. Shredder and poison tower I usually set to default, as they benefit from hitting the front guy, and hits everyone around it, so will get bleed and poison on everything. Mortar I target highest armor first. Ballistae I do a mixture of all three to help whittle down the numbers for the other towers to take care of, etc. Yellow is armor, Grey is shields, and Green is health.

    I've found flame and poison towers to be quite effective. Enemies have health, armor, and shields,- green, cream, blue. Damage bars go from right to left, and you have to do the outermost damage first, so often you need to take out shields, armor, then health. Poison effects shields, flame armor, and bleed health. Focusing to upgrade just a few tower types gives you effects for all element types, and synergizes your attacks.
    I've found focusing on ballista, radar towers, poison and gas tower upgrades for damage to be effective. Scout towers help multiply damage. I may purchase the other towers, but often don't upgrade their cards.
    Get sorcery and mana banks to rely less on the RNG of mana wells.
    You need to surround your houses with towers to maximize gold. Decent strategy is to get all of the starting money upgrades and place towers around all the starting houses. Later in the Game you can replace the unused towers with radar stations, which effectively reduces the price of radar station.
    Nothing overcomes bad RNG for tiles though. My best games have maps with few branches and mostly switchbacks.

  • @modulusshift
    @modulusshift Před 2 lety +3

    So the blue stuff he keeps calling armor is shield right? And he keeps putting down the wrong towers to deal with it as a result? It looks to me like Green is health, cream is armor, and blue is shield, and if you see an enemy with all three you can see it follows that order, which is the order he talked about earlier on: "got to get through the shield first, then the armor, then the health."

  • @emilsingapurcan8054
    @emilsingapurcan8054 Před 2 lety

    An important note is that for enemies that regenerate their health, armour, or shields, the appropriate damage over time nullifies that. But if you have a high damage/sec cap on your effects, it will run through the meager amounts you were able to put on the enemies at the start and just allow the enemies to regenerate any damage you dealt by the time they reach the next killing zone

  • @ck7802
    @ck7802 Před 2 lety

    Something else of note. When you go to upgrade the towers, it costs more if the progress bar on them is lower. Essentially the towers auto upgrade based on what they are doing damage to. If they are hitting just health, the progress on the health upgrade will increase until 100%, then it will upgrade and start a new progress bar. The same goes for armor and shields. You doing it manually just upgrades it faster at a higher cost. This means towers that are older are better than towers that are newer, just because they have auto upgraded over many rounds.

    Do more with your “Target Priority” options! It’s not “target this, then this, then this.” It’s “target this WITH this AND this.” It’s a logic based system; so if you set it to Most Shield/Most Armor/Progress, it would prioritize the target with those parameters and switch between targets accordingly. If there are no targets with Shield, it will then target the enemy with the most Armor making the most progress. If there’s no enemy with Armor OR Shield, it will then target the enemy making the most progress. Most Armor/Least Shield/Slowest, it will base its target on that hierarchy instead. Adjust the target priority based on the strengths of each tower and micromanaging how you do damage around the paths and you’ll get so much further faster even without the fast forward mod. My record is 48 and I only had down maybe 24 towers.
    Hope this helps!

    You also only have 45 levels to pick cards(+ oogie chests), so splitting into many tower types means you cant min/max into the good upgrades on most towers

I don't upgrade any of my towers as they upgrade themselves over time. I also try to keep one path very long for the bosses to spawn on.
    I try to concentrate my card upgrades for each type of tower, for example I only upgrade shield stats for poison, armor stats for flamer, I always go for bandit as soon as possible and I go for the cards which give extra damage from all towers on bleeding / burning / poisoned. I do go for cards which upgrade all stats on my obelisks though, but concentrating on shield where possible as that is more important in the late game.
    The house protection stat usually ends up resulting in about 18% of my income and at the start it nearly doubles my income - It's well worth while.

    Your thoughts on how things work is correct but you need a bit more refining. The poison sprayers are working but can't place stacks on the mobs since you have such high per sec dmg counters. Poison dmgs shields, fire dmgs armor, and bleed dmgs health. So the best type of run would have poison near the beginning of each run. Fire in the middle and bleeding near the tower.

    I watched a video. The absolute most powerful tower is Tesla Coil. If you have a +3 in the middle of a corner, like your early obelisk, and just get everything for it, it'll 1 shot even end game.

    Worth noting that unless the path bends back on itself, it's a little useless to fill in the space behind your tower (on it's own block) as the range limitations means that they'll only have a split second to shoot, and the hit box of the tower is a little jank at times, meaning that they're basically useless.

    If you do decide to do another challenge like this, I cannot recommend the radar any higher. They have the largest range of any tower and just a couple can vaporize oogie in seconds. Just make sure they're targeting him. I've had a few games where I didn't even realize he was here until I noticed the chest lying on the path.

    Invest on shield and armor damage will do the work..
    Tesla, poison and particle cannon is a shield damage
    Flame, obelisk and mortar is a armor damage
    Radar, shredder and balista is technically health damage

    The frost tower by far are the most important tower for me. In any tower defense game a slowing type tower are really important. also the shredder are really weak against boss and enemy with a lot of shield or armor which comes a lot in late game.

      @lstt89 Před 2 lety

      Once I unlocked the frost bolts (or whatever it's called) for ballistas and creeping cough for poison sprayers. Each hit of them would slow the enemy 5%... Cue dozens of mortars zeroing in. Fun!

  • @chameleonfoot

    If you get confused on which is armor and which is shield, just click on a tower. The bar where you upgrade the damage for each is the same color it appears on health bars! (So it’s armor as the tan/white, and shields are the grey/blue)

    You should prioritize lowest health on your ballistas closest to the end. Two healthy enemies making it to your tower still does less damage than three or four nearly dead ones.

    Obelisk settings:
    Least Shield
    Most Armor
    Most health
    So obelisk ignore all gray shield, prefer orange armor and than most healthy and after that it will shoot to shielded enemy’s.

    You should do a round with only being able to build on 2 squares at a time but you get to keep that unlimited mod on. It would be interesting to see what the strongest combos are and how many rounds you can last. You would hope for a straight line map but as you can see who knows what you will get.

  • @justatest90
    @justatest90 Před 2 lety

    This is rough. If you add more towers, you get cards from those towers, which makes it harder to upgrade. You're also building your roads "evenly" - so all your enemies arrive at the same time. This is great if you have AOE...but you were building Obelisks which are single-target. If a road splits, just build out ONE road, this will automatically separate enemies arrival time.
    Also, purple = shield, not armor. White = armor.
    Usually it's bad to increase bleed/burn/poison damage rate -- you want to have the rate low so that crit is high!
    Lastly, you destroy towers WAY too much, this is wasting XP for improving tower strength.
