Shes 2. News reporters need to stop making statements if they aren’t sure about anything and just be honest “I don’t know if she will be okay” would have sufficed. Because she’s not okay, she is suffering from permanent brain damage. Which will lead to seizures and medication for her the rest of her life. I copied this from a news post about her: “Mithoff said doctors have described the effects of the injury to her central nervous system as similar to those of a stroke. The areas of the brain affected include those in which injuries can lead to seizures, loss of sensation and loss of spatial awareness, he said. Other potential effects include periods of unresponsiveness and staring spells, frequent headaches and night terrors, he said.” I feel so bad for the parents and this baby AND the player. But I really do hope there’s a way and hope even though it seems really thin.
jonathan sanchez They do, in some stadiums. But, to be fair.. one of the magic moments of baseball is catching a foul or homerun ball. These seats without nets are literally CALLED foul seats, and in many areas are even more expensive because you get the chance to catch and keep an MLB teams ball. While technique is a factor, Almora isn’t really at fault. Those parents had a choice to buy a netted seat and didn’t. It’s neither party’s total fault. But with the consecutive injuries.. I don’t know. I’d hate to see some of that magic go, and those seats are a known risk, but.. the safety of kiddos and the elderly is certainly more important.
He realized he may had killed her or injured her bad by accident. He has a good heart you can tell. How sad and Accidents happen. Thank The lord she survives.
I personally waited to take my daughter to her first MLB game until she was about 4 1/2. Before the game, I told her this would be a lot of fun but we need to watch out for the ball being thrown or hit towards us. I was like a hawk the whole game, we had a few close calls but she was aware of that every time. I didn't drink or anything like that, just enjoyed the game with my daughter and paid attention. These days you see so many people talking with other fans and drinking way too much or with their faces stuck in their phones even with little kids around. Pay attention, stop looking at your phone, you don't need to smash down 3 beers just to enjoy or relax. Especially if your child is there and under your protection. I feel terrible for the player and the little girl. This happened once already and people don't learn. Hope this girl has minor injuries and nothing broken or needs any major surgery.

This is unfortunate but now the family is represented by counsel. Astros owner tried to reach out to the family. This is a 2 year old celebrating her birthday. It's absolutely awful for an innocent little child to be hit. But I mean as a parent you can't stop paying attention for an instant. Plus, sit between your child and home plate. Don't text, don't do anything except be vigilant
From the camera angle it looked like the little girl was sitting in his lap. That is pretty hard to protect her when she is in your lap. My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.

I would’ve cried if I had accidentally fouled a ball into the stands where it hit a child. You NEVER want to experience that, baseball player or not. It’s tough to watch but I’m glad the child is okay, if not visibly traumatized.
Because it obstructs the view of the fans. Baseball has been played over a century and it’s rare for someone to be hurt badly by a foul ball like that.
Me quito el sombrero ante la nobleza y humanidda de este pelotero, Gracias a Dios no fue mas que un susto y a los fanaticos recuerden que sentarse en esa zona implica un riesgo no puedes quitar la vista del juego ni distraerte por un segundo
I know it’s not the guy’s fault but I’m just appalled to the fact that media are more worried about him rather than checking with that little girl. They can’t even check her real time condition.
About 1,750 fans are hurt each year by foul balls at MLB games, citing an analysis by Bloomberg. This equates to a rate of roughly two injuries per every three games, making a fan injury from a foul ball a more common occurrence than a batter being hit by a pitch. The balls are faster, the seats are closer, the solution is called protective netting, and it must be extended beyond the current limits and used on all stadiums. Teams are not liable for medical expenses, by buying a ticket there, you're fully responsible for any ball events.
when the players in the league say nets should be extended fully around the field to prevent this and the MLB says we are looking into this (they were quoted as saying they don't want to have it decrease the experience) shows that they care not for the safety of the fans, NHL has nets around the whole arena and it does not stop the experience.. comes down to $$$ i feel ..
Tragic, but my word, leave the parents alone. The odds of this little girl getting seriously injured in the car taking her to the game were higher than getting hit by a baseball. Just an unfortunate incident.

Thank God She is ok !!! And i can tell this player have a good heart !! Blessings for all of them !!!
The way he acting I thought she hit him in the face.
Prayers and May God Bless that little Girl and Bless the Dude Too. I'd be devastated as well.
God did bless her with a baseball to the face. Edom's day of rule is over Jacob got next!
@DrinkwithaMexican lol nice joke
Almora is a class act. I hope the little girl recovers quickly.
She will get a book deal now
That had me in tears also. I played baseball and the danger is very real that someone could possibly be hit by a ball or bat.
I played little league. But even if I didn't, the danger of foul balls is obvious.
They need to seat parents with children under 12 in ticket sales behind the net in the future to all stadiums.. I feel the heart in the unimaginable that ball player too.Prayers for that little girl hit. She will be okay!
Things happen, and we have to adjust.
Wow......I will pray for her!🙏
As if pRaYiNg is going to do anything 🙄

Chilling video. So glad to know she is ok and almora is a great human being 4 showing his concern. As a yanks fan i am disturbed at comments that Mark teixeria made 2day in an interview with micheal kay. If it was your kid or u saw this live u would think differently
came here after the news says she was hurt really bad and might have permanent brain damage....am crying for this baby😭😭😭
Shes 2. News reporters need to stop making statements if they aren’t sure about anything and just be honest “I don’t know if she will be okay” would have sufficed. Because she’s not okay, she is suffering from permanent brain damage. Which will lead to seizures and medication for her the rest of her life. I copied this from a news post about her:
“Mithoff said doctors have described the effects of the injury to her central nervous system as similar to those of a stroke. The areas of the brain affected include those in which injuries can lead to seizures, loss of sensation and loss of spatial awareness, he said. Other potential effects include periods of unresponsiveness and staring spells, frequent headaches and night terrors, he said.”
I feel so bad for the parents and this baby AND the player. But I really do hope there’s a way and hope even though it seems really thin.
I still don’t get why they don’t put nets up
jonathan sanchez They do, in some stadiums.
Because their in Brooklyn
This is absolutely upsetting to watch
I know it was an accident, but it's too bad that someone has to get hurt at what is supposed to be a good time. I hope that she is doing well.
It shows that everyone has a heart
That is very sad. Such a scary moment. At least the Cubs player was very concerned about the little girl. That security guard did a great job consoleling the Cubs player. Prayers for the little girl and her family.
She actually wasn’t ok
I feel so bad for the player. This is a very say day for baseball. As a Jays fan, I feel a little sad for this moment. Hoping that the kid would feel better soon.
Much respect to him.. It was nobody's fault it just happened. MLB needs to have netting protecting the lower bowl of every stadium period.
No they don’t need more netting. Do you know how many fans relish foul balls they’ve caught over the years? Very few serious injuries, by comparison. Your odds of being hurt or killed in a car wreck that day are higher.
Better safe than sorry.. They have netting u can literally see thru I'm sure
Ruben Cee “Better safe than sorry.” That’s the biggest cop out line in history. So pathetic.
Jeff Brown what happens if that was your kid. Then you’re gonna be calling for more netting too. Cmon man
Your correct. They should definitly put like a fence or a net there
Did the game end after he hit that girl?
They need to do a meet and greet with the player and the family I feel for them both
Lisa Medeiros they are suing them, I think the meet and greet is out of the question
they'll probably be sued. the ballpark should be
@Anne Liesveld *fetus deletus*
I feel like I’m watching a Japanese news channel with that newsman.
You guys forgot to add that she was on her phone
Little girl got killed at a Columbus hockey game years ago after being hit by a puck.
That's why the netting is around each zone in the NHL, although there is no netting over the neutral zone.
Look at the catcher. He can't even bear to look.
You forgot the period at the end.
Heart goes out to that Lil lady. 💔Horrible.
But also that hitter is a great soul. Obviously he feels terrible about what happened even tho he couldn't even control it.
Poor thing. You can clearly see the player is an absolute wreck over that. I hope the little one is okay
Mellissa G he has two little girls. I think that’s why he reacted like that.
@@austinscottpridemore3692 awww... I didnt get to listen to the vid... I was in an waiting room and couldnt let the volume go up to be able to hear it.. but now that I have been able to hear it, that's heartbreaking. So sad. I pray the little girl is okay. The MLB needs to extend the nets...there have been way too many similar situations. Poor child
@@austinscottpridemore3692 he has boys, but I get what you're saying. Anyone who has kids and caused an accident would surely react the same, 😥
Poor kid
if i was the guy who hit the ball i’d have the same reaction.
(cubs player Almora) no one told him...he seen it when it hit it and it happened
I like reporter he seems like just a dude on the street
GOD DAYUM
I HOPE SHES OKAY
The thing is now after this incident she will now sometimes have seizures for the rest of her life
This is unfortunate but now the family is represented by counsel. Astros owner tried to reach out to the family. This is a 2 year old celebrating her birthday. It’s risky for anyone being struck by a ball at a ball game. The players are upset, the fans are upset, anymore that sees this is upset and Astros owner is upset.
Erin My thoughts exactly ✅ What 2 year old little girl wants to go to a ball game for her birthday 🤔 that’s what I’ve read from the media 🤦🏼♀️
Erin ✅ Absolutely, now because no one was paying attention they will sue but it’s really the parents negligence ✅
Im sorry for both
Pray for both
God bless you all
"how it affected the player" ARE YOU FKN KIDDING ME !
Yahoo news said that she had permanent brain damage. Hope she is truly ok.
Player Hugged an Security Officer! That’s Tough!
Oh no poor girl, and the player I wish I could give him a BIG huge
Don't leave us in suspense. Give him a BIG huge what?
CrazyNinjaMike lmaoooooooo
It's absolutely awful for an innocent little child to be hit. But I mean as a parent you can't stop paying attention for an instant. Plus, sit between your child and home plate. Don't text, don't do anything except be vigilant
From the camera angle it looked like the little girl was sitting in his lap. That is pretty hard to protect her when she is in your lap. My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.
Why would you take a 3 year child to a MLB and sit in the lower level in a line drive foul ball zone? I don't understand that.
My first thought after they said she was expected to be ok
These are the same fans that let their kids stand up at ice hockey games trying to catch a puck that's gets shot out of play that move in excessive a hundred miles an hour even though their safety netting around
@@pilotguy1141 Yeah it's not 1980 anymore. Pucks rarely go into the crowd with all the netting around arenas.
take me out to the ball game...
Selfishly stupid parents..... I say charge them with endangering a minor.....
this is another example of baseball players being the coolest in sport. that kid the family, they're gonna be taken care of by him for sure.
but for the league... the people who have died, suffered permanent brain damage, or been blinded, no net required. how idiotic of them.
Right or left?
I would’ve cried if I had accidentally fouled a ball into the stands where it hit a child. You NEVER want to experience that, baseball player or not. It’s tough to watch but I’m glad the child is okay, if not visibly traumatized.
She's *not* okay.
Why doesn't the foul net go down the lines?
Because it obstructs the view of the fans. Baseball has been played over a century and it’s rare for someone to be hurt badly by a foul ball like that.

Preventing something like this has to happen now. What are we waiting for?
I rekber when this happened cause I was sitting a few rows behind that... and my mom was in the bathroom and they came into the bathroom panicking
🙏🙏🙏Prayers 🙏❣️🙏🙏🙏 Thank God She's Okay
Me quito el sombrero ante la nobleza y humanidda de este pelotero, Gracias a Dios no fue mas que un susto y a los fanaticos recuerden que sentarse en esa zona implica un riesgo no puedes quitar la vista del juego ni distraerte por un segundo
I hope the Astros can step up and help with care costs.
I wish there was some way to make it safer for the fans and keep the balls from hitting them.
I know it’s not the guy’s fault but I’m just appalled to the fact that media are more worried about him rather than checking with that little girl. They can’t even check her real time condition.
She is not okay sadly
I hope this man can recover without trauma by this..
make it a sport and fun thing, if you are seating close, make your child wear a baseball helmet
Helmet with face shield!!!
Why is it froze
Al mora is a good man and a real man the world needs more men like him.
Feeling really bad for that little girl hope she's ok
I just do not understand bringing little kids to games.
Reminds me of the Josh Hamilton home run where a fan fell of the stand and died. So sad man.😢
It wasn't a home run. Hamilton was tossing the ball to him and he fell over the rail reaching for it.
Where was she hit?
Sh was hit in the stadium where the game was being played
Take that child to the hospital.
when the players in the league say nets should be extended fully around the field to prevent this and the MLB says we are looking into this (they were quoted as saying they don't want to have it decrease the experience) shows that they care not for the safety of the fans, NHL has nets around the whole arena and it does not stop the experience.. comes down to $$$ i feel ..
Had to look at this video because it came to news that the girl suffers from seizure due to this incident.
If I was the girl I would be PISSED
You gotta just wonder how emotional almora was 😔
Not worth the risk for a child so young.
Tragic, but my word, leave the parents alone. The odds of this little girl getting seriously injured in the car taking her to the game were higher than getting hit by a baseball. Just an unfortunate incident.
