    Credit where credit is due to the NCAA account for posting the full broadcast version the same night of the event without spoiling the results in the title! Now if only the broadcast could stop the habit of cutting to anticlimactic field events in the final four laps of the race...

      @@C-R-A-C-K-E-R I find it a little easier to cue the video and avoid spoilers if there's nothing in the text/title giving it away, but yeah they gotta work on the thumbnails.

      @@timmytheinventor4746 That's been true before. But this was pretty exciting for most of the race, because there was palpable tension about whether they could or couldn't chase down the running who had sprinted out ahead of the main group.

    Charlie Hicks (and others) ran most of that race in Lane 2. That's 6.28m per lap extra. At has speed, 6.28m is about 1second. So, if the leader on the inside is running 68s per lap, Hicks is running 67... so heading into the last lap he may have run 60-120m further than the leader... and then hopes to live with the leader on the last lap? In that race, it would have been easy to run at the back of the leading pack and saved energy for the last few laps.

    • @christopherhamill525
      @christopherhamill525 Před 2 lety +3

      Hence why Kioko didn’t have much of a disadvantage come the end

    • @rsnowden0524
      @rsnowden0524 Před 2 lety +8

      Eh, it didn't seem like Hicks spent that much time outside. Unless you're constantly going way out into lane 2 on the turns, that sort of position doesn't seem to matter as much for most of a modestly-paced 10K. Jacobs spent a good deal of the race off the rail, especially in the faster final few laps when he was on Nur's shoulder, and that wasn't much a problem for him!

    There are some interesting points during a 10,000m. It's good to see the 3000m point/time... video missed that. How about the 5000m point/time? Video missed that. It's good to see the point where a breakaway is caught. The video missed that. How about the fall? Video missed that (as did the commentary). The commercial breaks were very poorly timed here. You went to commercial and Kioko had a 70m lead, then came back and the pack had caught him. Didn't even know Jacobs fell until after the race was over. I was freaking out about what might have happened to Charlie Hicks bc we didn't see it
