    Honestly, ive seen a drastic difference in the plumpness and smoothness of my skin in less than 4 months of taking hydrolyzed collagen peptides. Previously, i had believed a lot of doctors saying that it was a waste of money, just use retinoids and sunscreen (which I have been for YEARS), but this collagen supplement was an absolute game-changer for me, and flattened out my nasolabial folds to the point where I no longer need to consider botox for the next several years.

      That’s not to say that science doesn’t have findings related to this, but science finds facts, whereas what you mention here (“gender/race is a social construct”) would be a conclusion some may make based on the evidence. In some cases, scientists may say their research SUPPORTS the idea that they are social constructs, but that’s not the same as asserting that they are. Dr Stefani Kappel says research shows these supplements do improve the skin as long as you're doing something to stimulate collagen production, such as using tretinoin. She seemed to mean that if you're not doing anything to actively stimulate collagen then the collagen peptides won't get to where they need to be. This may of course be wrong, but how is the average person supposed to know which info to believe?

      @Parcha64 Před 11 dny

      I think generally we need to remember "supplement" means "in addition to a healthy regimen." They help, but they aren't the sole reason people are healthy. You can't take a pill that makes you a marathon runner, for example. For skincare, you have both dermatological interventions and lifestyle changes that complement them. I hope that helps.

      @mikiim5739 Před 2 dny

      I feel like there's some degree of truth to this. Another doctor on YT was talking about a research that concluded something similar. She said that the collagen you ingest doesn't exactly get deposited into your skin but rather it signals the skin to form more collagen of its own. So it makes sense why ingredients like retinol and vitamin c might help facilitate that process.

    I’ve been drinking the vital collagen lemon peptides for 3 weeks and it was like i used a uno reverse card on my skin. Never thought it could make such a difference as my DERMATOLOGIST told me 2 years ago it’s pointless because we can’t get collagen from our stomachs to our skin but the peptides we can because it’s the small particles our body uses to create collagen. That is what the scientists say so I tried it and yes I’m only half way into getting the full effect and I no longer feel like I’ll need a mini facelift soon.

    I'm 64 and have ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia, and RA. I've been taking a collagen supplement for over a year and have seen a significant improvement in my skins ability to heal as well as better skin and nails. I do also protect myself from the UV with sunscreen, a hat, and sun protective clothing especially now that my meds for RA make me sun sensitive.

    There's still no harm taking this right? I mean I know only a little amount could reach the skin because compared to the other organs, skin seems less vital. As someone struggling to from getting the daily requirement of protein from foods, I'd give these protein/collagen powders a go.
