- This is a bit of a left field choice, but if you like performance and handling that'll help you keep up with an F30 328i this is the car to do it. The Mondeo EcoBoost here has 240PS from its 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine and handling that almost matches up with the BMW. Has its flaws, but an astonishingly enjoyable car to drive.
Note: Price of the vehicle is actually RM68,800 and not RM72,000 as mentioned in the video.

I liked the video because of your diu na seng 😏
Hahahahahahaha
Hahaha
Great video bro! You should do more of these informative used car reviews. There's not a lot of people doing these videos but plenty of second hand car buyers out there.
Thanks for watching!
That's was a beautiful car. Thanks for showing to us. :)
Wanna buy?
Kon Wai Luen I would like to but finding spare parts seems to be a huge issue. Can’t find anything online. Considering this car and Mazda6 2.5 2012 and Renault Fluence 2015. Mondeo and Mazda6 running close but the former scares me a lot with the lack of spare parts availability.
Agreed. The driving experience are sensational. My brother in law use to own a previous Ford S-max ecoboost too But is 203hp. Even it's a mpv the driving experience awesome
The new one is even better. More comfortable, handles just as well, but a bit dull on feedback lah.
Kon Wai Luen maybe due to newer car is using EPS? Older car using hydraulic power steering?
For such high mileage, I'm impress by how good the interior looks. Either the owner really took good care of it, or the dealer did a great job in restoring it.
Could be both, and the fact that the previous-gen Mondeo did have good cabin materials.
99k is high mileage?
This unit is definitely one that has been well taken cared of, at least visually. The PowerShift on this one is definitely more reliable than the dry clutch ones, of course since it is a wet clutch just like the pre facelift last gen Volvo S60 but even then, I did know someone with a 2013 Mondeo and 2012 SMax Ecoboost 240PS with transmission issues. Arguably I reckon those were more of the dealers being incompetent during service however, and if the gearbox was well taken care of, it would be a great buy. Would definitely take this over the B7 Passat used though.
Yes, have heard of some cars having DCT issues, but this is definitely better than the current-gen Mondeo to drive. The successor of the EUCD platform seems more skewed toward comfort and sacrifices some of the chattiness that this generation used to have. The result is a more comfortable, still sharp handling, but markedly reduced engagement. For the S-Max, it's brilliant, but for the Mondeo, I prefer this older one.
I totally agree. The big problem is because the new one is basically a Fusion. Fusions have typically been good for American driving standards (I.e. the miserable Malibu) but it’s miles behind the US Passat, which in itself is very soft compared to the Euro Passat. It works for the S Max but definitely not the Mondeo. Also, the Mondeo’s interior isn’t anywhere as good as this generation, somehow it just feels flimsy, again, the problem of them trying to compete too hard with the Toyota Camry in the US for under 26k USD.
This previous-gen Mondeo has very high quality interior plastics.
Sudonano, the wet clutch one is equally jialat.
Not that workshops are incompetent in repairing this gb but rather it’s a usage issue- if u do outstation drives, go ahead n buy but if your commute is crawling traffic, this gb will uplorry in no time, this is true for all dual clutch gearbox becos they rub n rub when u are barely moving i.e not giving throttle.
Actually if u guys really like the mondeo’s handling, can consider the Volvo S80 instead. It’s comes with a sweet inline 5 turbo with aisin 6 spd. It’s essentially the same car less the drivetrain. Perhaps Kon can make a video on the Volvo S80🙂
That Mondeo is definitely a sleeper. Pity the design is either a love or hate, and that center console with the 2 top blower outlets flanked by silver linings on the sides to the bottom keeps reminding me of Jar Jar Binks.
Hahahaha... OMG, never saw that.
Damn the registration no 3861 came out first prize in Kuda on the 15th July....If only you had made this video earlier lol
Fated la. Hahahaha.
Haha, I like your enthusiasm. You know your stuff. But at the same time of the Mondeo, I was rather taken by the S-Max. Both share the same engine. 😊
For the S-Max, I prefer the current-gen model. Looks better, more comfortable, and much better features.
@@KonWaiLuen And looking back after more than 3 years you've done this video, you're now an S-MAX owner :)
@@teachercheeeduchannel3773 amazing journey getting me here. Another coincidence, this particular Mondeo now belongs to my friend's brother.
@@KonWaiLuen wow , truly a coincident :) what an interesting world
what's the bad thing about this sexy mondeo besides the dashboard and the "quite empty" interior? I love the look, I have a neighbor who drives a chevy cruze (looks great also) but yeah what is it that keeps people away from this model?
Problem with Ford is always aftersales. The Mondeo, being a rare model, there may be a waiting time involved in ordering certain parts as well.
Can you do a full review of it, Kon?
To drive out, I think not la. They have to preserve the car's mileage for the next buyer.
Mondeo good to buy
Have to be mindful that parts are not cheap, but it's great to drive.
@@KonWaiLuen agree iam drive ford fiesta all ford parts are not cheap
Hey Kon!! Youre a Ford owner currently, right?? What is your ownership experience like thus far?
Mother drives a Ford Escape. The car is reliable and problem free, but service at official centre have to make appointment la. They serve good nasi lemak there though.
Haha! Nice!! Thanks :)
Kon, how about the 2.3 duratec. Any good?
petrol consumption is high
Good to know. Its unfortunate u didnt open the engine bay, just to show hows the engine with 240ps looks like. Oh well.
Hey Kon, I've been eyeing on this car ever since they have it on the second-hand market. May I know how expensive is it for the spare parts? Is it a honda-dealership spare parts kind of expensive? On another note tho, the only restrain from buying this brand is their aftersales service, imho
Parts are not cheap, but if you service it at Wearnes, can guarantee you'll get competitive prices and service.
Adam, refer to my comment below. The main issue with this car is the gearbox, it’s not suitable for creeping traffic. Engine wise, it’s ok, fairly reliable.
jd fd thanks, your comment is really useful! The transmission was the part that I really concerned about.
Kon ,on the last seconds of the video , accidentally saw also have Volvo car there , is it a S60 ? , Also , let say if I buy a new volvo SUV , if don't want to buy their warranty program but service at wearnes will it be cheaper ??
There are two units of the S60 on sale at Wearnes, a T5 and a T6.
As far as I know, no car maker sells you a car without warranty. You can buy a new car and void the warranty by servicing outside though/
I m waiting for the newer model used car in coming few more years...
Don't wait. Buy now. I saw one going for RM75k!
Don’t have money now 😞😑🤦🏻♂️😅😆ha...
U mean this model or yr 2015 model?
Rear bumper repainted?
I asked them about it, they said no. Front bumper was touched up though.
Is the gearbox automatic or semi auto?
It's a dual clutch transmission with manual mode.
This car is good, but can keep up with my DB11?
In a traffic jam, yes.
Believe or not James Bond (Craig) drive one.
2.0 turbo
How much commission do you get if the car is sold?
Nothing for me, unfortunately.
Haha.. diu nia sing!
:)
Is the spare parts expensive
its like asking is the sky blue?
nabill arif well u well knew that sky can be dark grey as well
well..... not cheap, but come back to service at Wearnes. they offer competitive prices.
More concern about the spare parts availability.
Siong C ford shares same parts with Volvo t4 n t5 so parts wise should not be an issue. But be prepared to pay Volvo prices haha.
Kon, can it outrun a 508 gt? 204hp 450nm 😂
Suspect the 508 will have stronger in gear acceleration due to its torque, but the Mondeo's high power mean that the Ford will likely prevail in the top speed stakes.
Don’t buy this car. The problematic power shift, present in the Volvo T4 and T5 also, can kill u. This gearbox is not meant for creeping traffic, it will fail earlier if u creep a lot. Some of the cost faced by Volvo owners in SG.
Clutch pack change (wear and tear) $1.2k sgd
Mechatronic + clutch
$9k sgd
Power shift fluid $400
If u convert to myr, u can clearly see how this gearbox can kill u.
Not for the faint-hearted indeed.
Volvo T5 same engine n gear shift.
I think not because im using ford mondeo almost 6 years and doesn’t have any issue
@@syafiqrai9659 Mind to elaborate what are the issues you have encountered during your usage period. Are parts are easy to source out and reasonable? Used car values are tempting tho.
@@syafiqrai9659 Salam bro. Sy bercadang nak beli mondeo. Tp risau jgk. Dgr cite,menakutkan..apa komen tuan. Tahun lps sy nyaris² nak beli. Tp dpt call owner keta tu. Katanya jgn beli ,byk masalah. Pd masa yg sama,sy jumpa sorang owner. Katanya ok. X da masalah. Jd,apa komen tuan. Tkasih.
You just said diu nia seng on 0.40
Yup. Unfiltered.
leng loh
Like how u did not mention anything about the c300 in front LOL
Eh... that's a good car too!
If you're looking for a car that costs around rm72k, then there's a reason why you're looking for a rm72k car. In that case, it makes no sense to get a car that is discontinued from the market. You're asking for an expensive nightmare.
Of course not, mate. A RM72k used car is for those who can afford, say, a RM100k-RM120k brand new car but want something slightly different or from a higher segment compared to what they can get brand new. If you have the budget for, say, a Honda Civic, you can have a look at this. But if you're barely stretching it to afford that Vios J, then this car is not for you.
Kon Wai Luen IMO if the budget is 100-120k, then the idea is whether or not to consider lightly used 1 year old D segment instead of new C segment. For those stretching it to get a Vios, it's a terrible idea to get 5 or 6 years old Conti car.
This car when new was only RM199k so relatively gd rv. If u want a nicer drive n don’t mind paying more road tax, consider the 3 litre s60 t6. It has a reliable inline 6 n aisin 6 spd gb. The T6 is abt 90k now, 348k when new.
I would prefer a used e60 M5 2007 which i can get around rm115K...can tapau every car on the road not just some entry level german cars ...ferrari also can cucuk
muhammad alqayyum one of the best engines ever fitted on a road car. However, the roadtax, insurance and maintenance....can easily destroy anyone's wallet haha
the maintenance will suck your wallet dry. The V10 engine is known for notorious reliability
E60 is a monster in a calf's skin. Don't play play.
Hahahaha... heed these warnings man, but if you can afford the upkeep, the E60 M5 is indeed a very special machine.
For high performance cars (Bmw M, Real AMGs, porsches and above), it’s better to pay in cash. If u have the cash to spare, go ahead. Don’t loan the car till u have no money for maintenance.
Diu nia seng
:)
Kon Wai Luen i like it though hahaha
but who will get the chick? lol.. their cars got warranty er?
Getting the chick boils down to one's skillzzzzz...... As for warranty, you can buy third-party warranty programme for a reasonable cost.
