- On this episode Jay from Real Street Performance assembles the Honda K24 engine for our AWD Acura RSX. For the new race engine we decided to go with a Brian Crower 92mm crankshaft that destrokes the 2.4L to 2.2L, Brian Crower H-beam rod, and JE Ultra Piston. As usual Jay drops a ton of great knowledge during the assembly process, enjoy!

This man's explanations and voice matched with the instrumental is enough to soothe this relentless withdraw I'm going through right now trying to fix myself. This is medicine to the tenth degree.
Withdrawal from what
I feel that brother. Keep at it though. It's worth it, and life gets better.

Better build a k24 fast
Hey man, keep at it man!!! Are u taking Suboxone?? Heard from a friend that really works! Just don't stay on it long or then you got a whole different withdraw! But if you like engine stuff, now's the time to learn, learn, learn! Takes your mind off stuff, Steve Morris engine's are flipping awesome!!! Good luck man, stay tough!!!
Jay + TRC = 🔥🔥🔥 man never misses
He's a real one and is about helping others with their street performance. The wealth of knowledge he has, is what people should aspire to gain in their own respective fields. I'm just happy that he's sharing what he has learned from over the years, from failures that lead to successes. Thank you, Jay. For sharing your knowledge and helping others.

The way he explains things makes you feel like you’re the master builder!!! Kudos my brother!!
as an amateur engine builder (on my 4th one) i cant thank you enough!!!! i know this is THE TRC channel but i could listen to jay talk about engines all day. legit, everytime this man talks engine building im writing on my notepad. lunch break hit diff today 💙
This man's RTV skills are on another level!! 😳
he trained as a cake iceing tech.
i want this guy to build any of engines. His attention to detail is immaculate
The fact you put together this work of art, gives me great hope for the future of car culture man. Forge on my brother's of mechanical mayhem!!!
I could listen to Jay talk all day! Dude is a walking encyclopedia
What I really want to see talked about more is Honda's AWD system.. I would love to know why someone hasnt completely redesigned it to allow for a true 50/50 split, or at the very least, I more versatile AWD system. Or are people just satisfied with Honda's "rear wheel assist" system? For me, My Evo, which has pretty much the exact engine configuration as a K series, I wonder why there has been no advancements in the AWD system itself or even just a completely custom one since Honda AWD is all the rage and the old Wago diffs are almost all gone now.
@@JonHop1 The rear wheel assist is working perfectly for drag applications. Too much power to the rear will cause the car to “crab walk”. Awd Honda’s launch so much harder than EVOs. Ever wonder why?
@@itsjussjerry Perfectly? Yeah I dont know about that.. And Wago Diffs are super rare now, and CRV stuff sucks. This is why so many people are going aftermarket, but I would love to see a stronger AWD system in Honda.. My Evo launches WAY harder than my AWD Honda. Depends on surface. And honestly, controlling crab walk is SOOO cool!!!.. Takes a ton of skill to hold that power and be facing sideways as you go straight down the track! LOL.. Altho, Crabwalking is pretty easily correctable.
@@JonHop1 people are going 9s easily with the CRV diff. I wouldn’t say they “suck”. What’s the 60 on your evo?
@@itsjussjerry Around 1.4 on average(on street tires .. 570whp).. Im not saying you cant go fast, im saying, they are rather weak and unreliable as a whole. If I were to build an AWD drag Honda, I would want a 100% custom made aftermarket setup for strength and durability. Those wago diffs are going for insane prices now, and the CRV diffs and AWD system are just not what I would want for higher HP and durability thats for sure.
I would watch this man all freaking day...So knowledge in sharing info for all to understand...Big up Jay, real General...
Damn crazy they swapped the entire main journals to the wider b series journals.
That’s a badass build. Seriously can not wait for the result. Living my dreams through this trc Rsx build.
he is so generous about is knowledge. Thanks Jay. Im always learning something when i watch one of your videos. Keep it up
The best mechanic hands down sir I really enjoy seeing you work
This is an incredibly cool video. I feel like I could build one myself now. What a pro this guy. 👌
Just noticed you guys using a freeze plug type head, we use those for more all motor applications because when head lifts it will put higher pressure on those plugs, could cause oil and coolant mixture, on boosted applications we use the hex screw cap ones, I built my engine, made 1082whp on 27psi, 8685,m5, m150, tuned by Jorge at H-Car. K24a, darton sleeved, stock stroke, built by me.
i aint there yet bro... so silly question.. running m5 still use intercooler?
@@LilFoxAK yup
The timing is perfection! Thank you for this video
Man I wish I could just build engines like this all day
Just does the job
Love watching your engine builds Jay!!!
Have you ever checked the ring alignment after the motor has run for a while? I always see you turning the rings so they don’t align on assembly. Learning so much from you guys 👊👊🙏
Met Jay at the old shop and then again at the new location during the open house they have..💯💯 chill knowledgeable guy don't matter if your building fast back mustangs to monster supra's Jay knows his stuff for sure..
This is the ONLY way I'd buy a 4-banger... 10,000rpm!!
Really great vid format! Thanks TRC and Jay
This is like watching art be made. Amazing I'd love to send you my engine, you just do phenomenal work on everything. I could watch u build engines all day. I love learning the small tips about things like the bolts that will disintegrate if water touches them but are incredibly tough otherwise. Great video, plz more!
I've always enjoyed your thorough process. It is informative and entertaining.
This was the most informative video I've watched on engine building and it's very underrated. Even some tips/info that I learned about!
Crazy how time flys. Been watching this channel since 2011. Wow!
I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this video but I love the info every time. Wish I could work at a place like this
The best at explaining stuff. Every time you watch you learn something new
I have nothing useful to add other than to say listening to Jay talk engines is an absolute joy.
I could watch these for every single engine out there. Fascinating
Engine Surgeon! Thanks so much for sharing this and the trick ideas like the B series rod bearings with us.
So much experience going into this build... I learn something new from every episode. Blows my mind on what it takes to have a happy engine. Wish I had the know how and experience in this area at this level.🌟🏁🏁🏁🏁🙏
Pleasure watching a master at work , very interesting info about rod ratio with a great analogy about the R35 engine
Angle torquing almost always implies yeild. Either update your torque specs for arp-2000 hardware (aka Studs) in ft/lbs or Nm, or replace all oem-style hardware when retorquing angle-torqued bolts. Just redoing the sequence will dramatically weaken the yeild strength of the hardware.
One of the very best out there! Jay is the man!
Jay for President!!!
Useful and concise information, great video!
I can honestly say I learned something.
Great video, very informative
I work on mobile devices for a living. Watching J put together engines seems like I’m assembling a phone back together. It’s awesome!
Heck yes. Thank you for the information breakdown!
Destroker idea makes a lot of sense. Great explanation of internal stress!
Maaaan the words awesome will remain not enough to express for this!!
Jay always knew his stuff hence was always always worth spending time watching his stuff!
And now this! With TRC
The awesomeness is almost illegal 🤣😂
😎😎
Badass Bro keep the great content coming💯💪🏽
2.2 is perfect, my engine is 2.2 liter too, it only runs on diesel, the indestructible and ultra smooth N22b.
The legendary B16 had almost perfect rod to stroke ratio, that is why back in the days it was perfect run high rpm and boost applications with minor upgrades.
Nailed it love these videos man
Those sealant beads were impeccable 👌
Anyone else wish that Jay was their dad? Gosh dang this guy is smart. I've learned so much from Jay+TRC and Jay in general from CZcams. Seems like such a good guy and a great teacher.
Would be awesome to see every performance engine built like this with explanations of what performance parts are being installed and for what reason
This man has all the knowledge let's go
I want that dude to build my engine. I love the quality of work.
yes!!!!! Awesoe Build!! I would love a ride in this!!
Great information, Unfortunately using those old guides was a huge mistake. ❤️
Interesting and informative Jay 🇯🇲💯🍻
It was a therapy watching the build
didn't know about that bedplate feature. awesome.
Great Video!
This is cinema at its finest.
this guy is like a teacher he never disappoints whenever he's building a engine.
So much knowledge
Oh man I’ve been waiting for this video
That’s a master mechanic.
Love every second of that man talking
it's like i'm watching a condensed HP academy course
Can’t wait to see this rsx finished, tuned and ripping street pulls over 9k rpms. It’s going to sound insane.
So therapeutic
very relaxing vid
Jay is the professor!
That RSX gonna Flyyy now
Can't wait to see the k48 when it's done
super humble guy
Brilliant!
What a nice video series
Super relaxing
Ive done a fair few engines with stretch tension bolts and they way i do it is ill grab a ruler and a sharpie ill lay the ruler across all the bolt and basically draw a line across the bolt head, so when your done you can check them if all the lines are pointing the same way you didnt miss any. Even 180 degrees just offset the line a little
Amazing channel and content I can't believe I haven't found you earlier !! Keep up a good work !!
jay is the man
As a k24a and k20z3 motor owner I love seeing these videos with Jay. I love his well explained builds!
Swap to ek? I’m trading to get as much info, starting
@@glennsilverio6632 I have a 07 civic si coupe fg2 that I bought with a jdm k24a just put in it do to the original k20z3 motor spinning a bearing. But bargained till I got the stock k20z3 motor with the car so I could build it for a older civic or put back in my 8th gen fg2, an then use the k24a for the older build I wanna do. Haven't decided yet. But have a 90 civic hatch down the road I mite Pic up soon to build with 1 or the 2 k series I have. Lol
Very nice build
Reminds me of the b16b which is essentially a destroked b18c with same 212.39mm deck height but paired with a 4.4mm longer rods than the b18c rocking the same b16a 77.4mm stroke. It changed the b16a r/s 1.73 to the b16b 1.84. the k24 block and rods paired with k20 crank gives you a 1.77 r/s. Pretty cool... it's like "k20b" the high spinning civic typeR engine we never got.
Beautiful
Nice rebuild. I wish I could afford a torque wrench like that
Dope video
What a great video
Best hypnosis session I've ever attended 😁🙏👍
I love it trc and keep up the good work and I love the video lot real true 👍
This guy is a true pro. K series is the best 4 cylinder engine ever built
He’s a surgeon with race cars……🔥🔥🔥
Curious if the L19 could be coated to prevent the embrittlement.
That Type S getting all the goodies and gonna be a beast on the track/streets.
Too bad the suspension sucks ass. Will be a great straight-line machine for sure though. They are great for drag.
I would like to see a video of Jay showing how he installs orings on the block.
Clean simple badass build with good attitude and character. No one wants to hear an annoying voice yelling and explaining like it's rocket science every time an engine is being put together. Thumbs up!
Jay is basically a car God.
What brand/type of sealant are you using for base plate and side cover?
Nice build! Want to know, which headgasket was installed aftermarket or oem Honda since this engine runs with O-rings
Hey Jay you never mentioned it but im curious to know why you went with H beam over I beam rods? Thx
watching him lay beads of sealant down is so satisfying
Can’t wait
Love it.
Verie good job boss yeeer soo good projet
Watching Jay work is like watching a master sushi chef make sushi
Fire rings this build is serious
Wizard level knowledge
