  • Taking apart an engine might seem straightforward to some, but is definitely not to others. In this video, I take you along for the process of completely tearing down and inspecting my #K24 #Honda or Acura #engine. Should you need to perform any kind of maintenance, or if you’re upgrading some parts inside the engine, this video should help you get to the point where you are confident in taking apart your engine. Watching this video prior to taking everything apart will hopefully save you time and money by not having to bring it to a mechanic.
    Feel free to take a look at the tools and products I’ve outlined in this video. By purchasing items below, it helps my channel operate and brings more awesome content your ways. Thank you all for your generous support!! ❤️

  • @averyalexander2303

    Nice video! I think those plastic pieces are from the oil cap, looks like the threaded part. No idea how those pieces would get through the oil drain back holes in the head though. Also, that engine really doesn't look bad inside at all in my opinion. No it wasn't spotless, but I have seen way more engines that look way worse than that than engines that look that good or better.

    Hi Milan, I've taken apart many Chevrolet small block V8 engines from 265 cu in in the 1955 Chevrolet to 283 and 327's. Every one, even those well taken care of always had sludge everywhere. In spite of the tiny bit of sludge you found I was amazed to see how clean that engine was inside. A tribute to modern day detergent oils. Good luck with this project. Tom U.S.A.

    I'm a heavy equipment tech and I never understood what the big deal is with a Honda crank pulley bolt . On dozers, front loaders and cranes 75 percent of the machines bolts are as hard or harder than a Honda crank bolt, way harder . I use a snap on or ir titanium impact and it does the trick for me . I've ran into some really stubborn bolts on big Cummins and Cat engines and if the impacts won't get it I use a chain wrench to anchor the pulley and a long 1/2 or in some cases 3/4 inch ratchet for the bolt . Depending on what it is I'll use a 3/4 inch impact which I know nobody is going to use on a Honda .

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  Před 3 lety +1

    They make a weighted socket for taking the crank bolt out. Has worked for me every time.

    Good video dude, kept me interested and kept me watching. Subbed.
    Please get an engine stand tho. They’re inexpensive and it looks and makes working on it much more professional.
    Also looks a bit sketchy with that prybar on the head removal.
    What head will you be using?

      Hey Tim. Thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yes I will be using an engine stand for the build, but for the disassembly, I wanted to show how it can be done without the expensive tools. As for the head, I will be using one from an Acura TSX. I'll get more into it later :)

    Well done man great video. Very detailed. Honestly these motors are a lot more work than my ej25 out of my Subaru lol. Do u happen know what the difference between the k24a and k24z3 and k24w1 motors ? Do they use the exact same block but different head ?
