There will never be another two decades like the 60’s, and 70’....EVER! 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😎
For sue
Agreed…lovelovelove ❤️🌸✌🏻
Agreed!
Agree!
exactly!!! So glad I grew up then
I spent most of my young years listening to Bread .. David Gates’ vocals are silky smooth 🍃🌼. David is still married to his sweetheart of 60+ years!! 👉👉 “make it with you” could mean “make a life with you”. It doesn’t always mean .. sex! 🫤
Me too, had the Bread greatest hits album in 1973 and played it to death
So typical and kinda sad at the same time. The unawareness of the true feeling of this song.
It seems like this generation goes straight to S-E-X instead of the Feelings that lead up to it.
Kind of like how their music reflects that. Or, how their music leads them to believe that’s all there is……
Either way, it is sad! 😢
Make a LIFE together with you… marriage commitment for life ❤
David Gates is still married to his sweetheart of sixty years. This song is about marriage.
Good to know
65 years for David and Jo.
"make it with you" in the 70's (and now too) in this song means he wants to make it through life with someone special -- it isn't a sexual connotation, but a romantic one.
No it's not. Means having sex.
@@shelleybleu4903 stop
@@shelleybleu4903, come on..listen to the lyrics. It's make it through life, together.
@shelleybleu4903 you know nothing.
"Everything I Own" is another great option by Bread. Some call their style Soft Rock others call it Yacht Rock, but either way you call it, Bread was one of the masters of this style.
Everything I Own is more than just a "love song" it can pertain to a lost loved one as well. That's how I think of it. Mostly because I still miss my Dad even though he's been gone for 20 years I still ache in my heart for him and would give it all away just to have him back again. I like your song choice for the boys.
Actually, David Gates wrote the song about his dad after he died.
You can never go wrong with a Bread song especially David's voice and the background musicians in this super group.
“If” one of the most beautiful songs ever.
One of my favorite songs ever, David Gates and Bread were so underrated
Glad you guys are back. Missed your reactions. Bread, the kings of melodic rock ballads. Their music always makes you feel centered and relaxed. I do believe that the lyrics create a double meaning and given the fact that it came out in the 70's an overt reference to sex would not have made airplay on radio station possible. Looking forward to many more reactions.
The Best of Bread is the soundtrack to a lazy weekend morning with the one you love.
60S 70S WE WERE BLESSED TO GET TO LISTEN TO ALL THE GREATS THANK YOU BOTH FOR PLAYING OURS NOW YOURS GOOD OLDIES
I think it means both but more of making a relationship work through life. ❤
The King of easy listening. Everything they did was just as smooth and easy. I grew up listening to music like this.
Missed you. Keep going bros. Bread, lovely song, was a big hit
Bread covers my ears with butter they're so great. Definitely fabulous memories from the 70s. Good to hear your "normal" lives are going great...🎤🤓🇨🇦
Very popular band growing up with many hit songs. I’m glad you’re finally doing some soft rock!!! Their song, Diary is also a really good song, along with countless others. If you do more soft rock, which I hope you do ( way overdue), you HAVE to listen to a band called Ambrosia. And a band called, Player with their hit song, Baby Come Back. I hope you do more soft rock. I’ve been waiting so long…
❤❤❤great band love his voice!!!
Yes, "make it" could mean relationship, having a future together OR as a sexual encounter (your understanding of English slang is excellent!). Mostly me and my buddies interpreted it as about a long term romantic relationship.
An incredible song and beautiful vocals
and it was released in the SUMMER of 1970 ;)
Not sexy time George 😂-- "make it" as in "make our lives together" I've missed you guys, glad you're back!
Thank you, Dudes for dredging up memories I've tried to forget. "The Best of Bread" album was the number one make-out music in 1976 at every party I attended when I was 17 years old. 😊
Guys!!! Welcome BACK!!! I missed you guys!!! Yes!!! The Bread were along with The Carpenters, were one of the most Roantic soft Rock bands of the early 70's!!! Great band! Great Reactions!
Totally
You really, really would like the group , Player and their song, Baby Cone Back. Great song. Do the official video where you see them performing this song. It was a huge hit in the U. S.
First of all I would like to say I missed you both and I"m glad you're back. In the 70's lyrics were supposed to be innocent but because they had censors they were also said in such a way that you could take it another way like George was suggesting. A lot of young people always thought it was a sneaky way to not get censored but we thought it was fun to get away with it/ we always took it the way George is suggesting.
Welcome back guys!! You are missed when you're out having a life 😂
Guys, I'm so glad you're back and we're going to get some great reactions again! I was a bit concerned about you as I don't think you've been 'off the air' this long before, nearly three weeks! Never mind, you're back now and that's the main thing. Anyway, this is a lovely song from Bread, I remember it well, from 1970. So many fab songs from this band, a few are 'The Guitar Man' (1972), 'Everything I Own' (1972) and 'Let Your Love Go' (1971). I remember I had the album The Sound of Bread (1977) loved it! Great reaction, guys, it really is good to see you back! Just one wee thing, RECATION should be REACTION! Proofreading hat on again! Take care guys, and all the best. 👍😊
David Gates had a wonderful voice. Another favorite of mine is "Diary". Then if you want to hear more of a rock song then try "Mother Freedom". Enjoy some Bread!
Great comment
I agree
Hi Anne, I always loved the song "Everything I Own" :)
welcome back guys...great reaction
Good to see u back …. always a good day when a new vid pops up
Great band
Be well
🐥🇨🇦🐥
Hugs to all❤
Good to see you back Guys. 😊 Try Aubrey ...ethereal with subtle meaning.
My mom wore out this LP. Just beautiful music.
I was just wondering about you two last night. Good to see you both back & all is going well. Not sure how others felt. I always thought of this song the same as Patrick as I Iistened and/or sang this gem. Suppose it may mean what u said George. What makes a good song better, is where it transports your being .. whether that be in this track a relationship or intimacy. Also a song's meaning can even change from time to time. That's prob the best compliment an artist/s can get is that you relate to their music so closely. Anyway I love this song, it's very easy to sing along. Hopefully George you will also b picking back up on ur movie channel too. Have missed those reactions. Welcome back Patrick & George ... Peace Out ☮️❣️😊
It's good to see you again! It's also very interesting to see where each brother's mind went to, with the double entendre title and lyrics of this song!! Patrick took the wholesome route, while George's mind went the direction that was so obvious from the sly little smile on his face every time the tag line was sung.😉 You two are so entertaining to watch.😊
Welcome back!! This is my all-time favorite Bread song!! Thank you!!😊😊🎵🎼🎶🥁🎤🎙🎸🎹🔥🤘🤘
Bread is and always will be AWESOME! ❤
I remember this song came out when I was 13 or 14. My father heard it on a radio I was playing and he took away the radio!
But I really think the whole vibe of the song refers more to a long term relationship like marriage or such. Seems a bit on the sentimental side.
One of the greatest bands!!!!
Anything by BREAD is great
'to make it' with someone has two possible meanings, yes, one meaning is to have sex, but the other is to succeed, accomplish or hold together over time. In this song, the meaning is ambiguous, it could be one or the other or both! He's met this girl, they don't know each other well, and he would like 'to make it with her'. At the time in 1970, I think most people assumed it meant both sex and a long-term relationship. Your reaction to the phrase made me laugh. This was a very popular song that year. I listened to it on Armed Forces Radio in Vietnam.
I think 'make it' in the context of this song is to develop a relationship with.
Bread was at their height of popularity in the ’70’s when I was in high school. Their music was the ultimate make out music. Always had the “Best of Bread” 8-track in my car… many hours listening to it from my backseat with my high school girlfriend.
Nice, chill song. Such smooth vocals. Bread is very well known in the U.S. for soft rock. You are both right about the meaning. It means both - a double meaning! Great to see you back guys. Hope you had a nice Independence Day!!😎
Welcome back guys. As soft rock groups go Bread are one of the best. Would put them with America as my two favorites. Anyway good luck.
Welcome back Bros.
Bread had so many great songs, and I enjoyed your reactions to this one.
"Everything I Own" is about love for a parent Probably my favorite song from Bread.
Glad y'all are back. Great reaction. Love the song. I've been off the grid too. My husband had 5 bypass and leaky valve repair open heart surgery May 22nd. His recovery has been tough but he's getting stronger every day, still have 9 weeks recovery at home. If you could please say a prayer for us, thanks 🙏❤
I was 20 when this song came out, and I felt I was in love. Make it with you meant he wants to make his life with his girl.
I was 5 when this came out and I've loved Bread ever since! David Gates is a wonderful singer!
Been weird. Concerned about your safety…A tribute to Tina Turner would be in order❤️RIP Tina❤️🇺🇸Also, Gladys Knight, Midnight Train to Georgia, or the song Georgia On My Mind by Tay Charles …Georgia 🇬🇪 has been on my mind🇬🇪🇺🇸🇺🇦
It's about spending your life together, committing yourself to each other, marriage. Sharing life.
BREAD IS FANTASTIC!!!
Great choice guy's BREAD was a great Band
But you should really go back to APRIL WINE
Make it through life together...Naughty Boy!
you guys are really appreciated all the way from los angeles ;)
And England
you're really going to like these guys.
David Gates of Bread one of the great singer/songwriters of the '70's!! I used to play their Greatest Hits on repeat back in the day. No George; I think just means relationship - Bread wasn't that kind of band. I miss the soft rock channels on the radio:/
Totally
Me too
I haven't heard this in years ! I was 9 when it came out
Welcome back guys, good to have you! It would be a dream for me if you guys reacted to some Frank Marino. The guy is the most underrated guitar player ever and you will see why in the song Aint Dead Yet
I always thought this would be a beautiful wedding song. Class of 76'r here ❤️❤️🎶
I miss're back.ed you guys! Glad you
I love these songs from my teen years, brongs back good memories. Inever thought this song was about that but now as adult i see it for what it means
im glad your back guys ,waiting reacting queen songs, like "In my my defense"♥️
This means make a life with you, that "Moniker" came out much later. Bread gives us the bread of life.
David Gates wrote amazing ballads, but Bread's more rocking songs are great, too! "Down on My Knees," "Mother Freedom," "Let Your Love Go," and others. Also check out the 8-minute David Gates' solo track "Clouds, Rain Suite." Amazing song cycle well worth your time! David is a brilliant arranger, and his strings are always just perfect.
David a genius
I just heard this song for the first time in ages on the radio, and here you are reacting to it.
Check out "If", "Everything I Own", "Baby I'm-A Want You", "Lost Without Your Love" and more.
Bread was a tragically underrated band. Two songs I would suggest to you are "If" and "Diary".
Pretty song....and I will be honest i fell asleep listening to it, i suffer from insomnia so i will definitely put this song before I go to bed to see if it helps me sleep again
Me too, so I will give it a go
Me too, so I will give it a go
Make it with you in life
Always loved Bread. David Gates has a beautiful voice.
You need to check out all the other Bread megahits of the soft rock 1970's and the silky sound of David Gates' vocals.
Just remembering some videos in the past where you'd both become emotional and it makes me want to ask if you'd considering reacting to Eva Cassidy "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" (the live performance). Other channels have reacted to it, but I've always wondered what you two would think of her. (R.I.P. Eva). 😞
Great recommendation
I don't see where to make suggestions so I'd like to make three here. They are totally different from each other and what you usually react to.
Joan Baez singing - Diamonds and Rust
Cab Galloway and the Nicholas Brothers - Jump Jivin'
Marco Antonio Solis (not to be confused with Mark Antony) singing - Si no te hubieras ido, and/or - Donde estara mI primavera
The lyrics were self explanatory.
Everything I own is for his dad that has passed.
That's so funny that you said this song isn't for kids because I first heard it when I was 10 yrs old. They have more good songs. Some others are "If", "It Don't Matter to Me", "Everything I Own" and "The Guitar Man". These are my favorites.❤❤ENJOY❤❤
To "make it" is to succeed in something, in this case "succeed in life" with someone else as your partner.
David Gates and Bread made some of the very best music of all time! Plus he came from a very fine family. Either his Dad or Uncle was my eye doctor as a child. His office was covered in African masks and carvings. He frequently went there to hold clinics for eye care. Some awesome people! Here's a couple of my favorite Bread songs -

What a far cry from Ted Nugent *Stranglehold* 😂 which I just got done watching again, my all time favorite reaction of yours. Seriously though, this came out when I was in high school with a new boyfriend. It Is a beautiful song, nice stereo effect too with headphones. ❤️
All of breads songs were either unrequited love or heartbreak and love ballad's
This was another side of ehat was happening as music evolved back in the day. The easy-listening sophisticated side is represented here. Nothing like cruising down Beach boulevard, windows doen, breeze coming in off the water, sun setting. Ahhhhhh.,.. Oh, and yes, it was about a life together and all thst it entails. It was not a blatant sex reference.
Love Bread great band. And please do some John Mellancamp reactions. Great music from him.
Geez guys, this song takes me way back🍂 Such a chill song and fun to see your reactions (George, you thought what many young folks thought when they first heard it:)) Perhaps it basically means to just make the relationship work but of course that involves many things doesn't it??😊 Glad to see you back & thanks so much for posting this old, sweet tune🧡
when he says make it with you its not what you think. its ok for kids trust me
Make it through life!
My interpretation to the meaning is to make a life together.
❤
Cool! Please Heart - Alone react!!!!
Bread is awesome
Miss seeing your videos. If someone doesn’t watch a channel’s videos for a while, they stop coming up on the lineup or whatever. Appreciate your reactions 💜 (I guess you know by now it’s not meant sexually, but make it through life together)
Guys, he is not talking about sex - directly. He's saying that he wants to spend his life with this person.
I wonder if we could get into a mindset where two people choosing to be together for life AND having sex are both what the song is about, and they are both beautiful things? It kind of feels like people are pitting one against the other!
If you liked this group you should listen to Lonely People by a group America that you have done a reaction for in the past.
David Gates from Tulsa Oklahoma is one of the best singers in the world.
Maybe someone has already chimed in on this, but I think the title probably refers to sex and a serious relationship, not just sex. A double meaning, I tend to not think song titles are about sex; but the history of rock'n'roll is full of references to sex in the titles, even in the Leave It To Beaver fifties.
Bread was a favorite of mine in high school! Please give a listen to "The Prophet's Song" by Queen. I promise, you will not be disappointed.
I grew up listening to the soft rock music of Bread in the 70's & had their albums. Love David Gates voice. He has one of the most soothing & mellow voices. They had so many hits such as "If", "Baby I'm-a Want You", "Everything I Own", "Diary", "The Guitar Man", "Sweet Surrender", "Aubrey", "It Don't Matter To Me" etc. In 1978, Gates enjoyed success as a solo artist with the hit singles "Goodbye Girl" (from the movie The Goodbye Girl) & "Took The Last Train".
bread has a reputation for being too sacharine sweet but i loved "everything i own", which was just right. '70s southern california soft rock is what they now call a ~vibe~ lol.
It's about love. Wanna Whole Lot of Love by Led Zepplin, now that song is very clear it's not about love.
familyyyyy guyyyyyyyyss
Please listen to Supper’s ready by Genesis!!!!!!
