I’m a 70’s child, Bread was & is my favorite band., man! That voice kills me! Yes it was a hit, it reached # 1. They dont make music or songs like that anymore .
So sad that your generation doesn't have this kind of music. I always loved Bread.
Climbing on rainbows simply means taking things to a loving, hopeful place. You have to listen to “If” by Bread. It will bring a tear to your eyes. There will never be another decade like the ‘70s for music

Bread was an amazing band. Anything I Own, If, all great songs. David Gates would eventually go solo, and Goodbye Girl was great.
I believe what he means by climbing rainbows was that he was taking a huge chance, thinking about the possibility of being with her, kinda like wishing upon a star.

David Gates lead singer had a nice solo career after they parted ways. Great song writer too. He wrote and performed the title song for the movie The Goodbye girl and many many others. He is the only surviving member of Bread. I have all the Bread albums and all his solo stuff too. Last heard he has a ranch in the Pacific Northwest.
This soft rock was big in the 70’s! Back when we liked to dance close and whisper the words in her ear. Those were the best days!

First of all I love you're reaction to this song. Guitar Man is one of my favorite song from these guys, and you won't go wrong with If, another great song. The list is endless. The Best of Bread l have it on CD, Cassette and 8-track. Still listening to these guys.
My brother gave me this record when I was 8. I wore it out! I of course didn't really understand it but it calmed me and made me feel at peace. Never apologize Greg. You're only hearing this music for the 1st time ❤

I grew up listening to Bread. They have some of the best love ballads easy listening music. They were really big in the '70s.

I’ve been waiting for you to discover Bread. Every song on this album was great, and David Gates’ voice is like no other. I’d love to see your reaction to their song, “If.” Also, as someone else suggested, “Down on My Knees,” which includes vocals from the rest of the band.
