He was 70 years old at the time, been playing for over two hours by then and still looked like he was ready to go some more ... Untouchable indeed.
Gods dont get tired
He ..is born under a very creative zodiac...a Picean...
Let's face it. There's no other song in the world to give you goosebumps this many times.
And make a 51 year old guy cry for no real reason.....So many thoughts and emotions well up from nowhere every time I listen to Gilmour play the guitar.
Maybe back to live or sorrow or shine on the crazy diamond or echoes or high hopes or time or âŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠâŠ..
You ainât lying! David gilmour is a bad mfr đ€đŒ
And oh yes...i forgot the mention...after playing the best ever lead.....at the end....he smiles that everyone enjoyed it...and takes his guitar off.... like it was nothing!!!WOW
David Gilmour was 70 years old at this concert. He is just as amazing.đ
Evelyn hereâŠ.Hey broâsâŠ..Iâm 74, so please donât make 70 sound like we should be in rocking chairs! I still hike and work outâŠâŠ.not ready to hang it up yet! Plenty of older musicians out there putting out great stuff the last yearâŠ.
Roger Waters is 77 and is about to hit the road again next year!! Tickets already on sale!
Tom Jones has one of my favorite songs of the year this year!
Those guitar strings are attached to his soul. Only a very few have possessed that gift.
Mark Knopfler is one of these magnificent people
David Gilmour doesn't just play guitar: he tells us a story with him through the soul. Next one: Coming back to life-Pulse concert. Thank you guys
Oh hell yea! Coming Back to life is freaking awesome. Gilmour's guitar tone is so emotive, and his vocal as well. Great choice.
Whenever I hear the term "guitar god" I think of this man.
This was one of those rare moments where you can feel something absolutely historic is happening right before your eyes. It's like God is opening the skies and reaching for us with his warmth. The light work in here is incredible and makes the whole thing even better. I envy those who attended this concert.
David Gilmour still rocks well into his 70's! God Bless Him!!
And he's working on another album.
God blessed all of us.
The most interesting and amazing thing is that David never plays it the same way... I have seen at least 12 live version and they areall different
Wow, 12? I thought I was cool with 4. 1980, The Wall, 84 About Face, 06 On an Island and 16 Rattle That Lock. I applaud your efforts and bow to you. I have seen Roger 5 times too.
channeling divine energy at the moment of performance
David Gilmour = Heavenly guitar bending.
Btw this guy was in his 70's for this performance, he's been performing since the 60's.
David Gilmour is a GOD.
OMG Yes, I am 68, I can remember when I was in junior high school. Our science teacher brought us to a Pink Floyd concert. He paid for the tickets, the bus, he passed around the smoke, LOL Wow what fun we had, watching that light show, young kids just blowing our minds, and guess what, they are still blowing my mind. I love listening to you guy late at night, I'm from Delaware, USA, retired, so I can listen all night, love you!
70 years old playing a 40 year old song to people in there 20s and still rocking it
Oui , on y Ă©tait avec mon pĂšre et mon grand-pĂšre... Mon grand pĂšre les avait vu a leur dĂ©but en 69 une Ă©poque qui devait ĂȘtre folle car ils Ă©taient au coeur de tout ça
David made this solo incredible with Floyd....but this was the night he made it perfection! I've been listening to this since 2016, and my heart still lifts every single time...
Amazing - 70 yrs old!
What amazes me is how he just stand there and tear you apart and put you back together again
Thatâs how you Legend..... THATâS .... HOW... YOU âLEGEND!â
One of the greatest live performances ever on guitar
The absolute pinacle of Rock guitar playing!!
at one point they asked eric clapton how it feels to be the best guitar player in the wolrd and responded: "no idea. ask david gilmore about that.."
The Shakespeare of the guitar.
Great reaction guys! David Gilmour is the fucking GOAT đž
In all my life this is the most awesome song performed out of all the rock groups out there. Everything was in perfect sync including the background vocalists, the light show and the beautiful high notes along with the drumming. He rocked not only that stadium but a like two mile radius around that stadium on that perfect nightâŠ. AND WHY IS IT THEY HAD THE COMMENTS TURNED OFF on that video?????? Whoever attended that concert they will remember this for the rest of their life without a doubt!!!
The Greatest guitar player in music history, a 70 year old man in a black Tshirt shredding any other performer on the planet. All while performing in the Oldest amphitheater on the planet. He was the first live performance in that amphitheater since 79AD. EPIC!!!
If the amphitheater could speak I firmly believe it would say thank you to Pink Floyd and David Gilmour for bringing back life to the place.
First in 1972, then in 2016.
The Greatest Guitar Solo of All Time
Mark knopfler telegraph road alchemy gives this a good run for its money
Their laser shows are flipping ridiculous.....so unbelievably good. Then add the band and itâs 100% of pure perfection!!!
Guys, think about it, he been playing since the 60's...and always gets better...You guys get it, is Wonderful!
DAVID GILMOUR 1 word GOD
The look on Georgeâs faceâŠâŠâŠâŠ.priceless.
CZcams, every time a commercial interrupts a David Gilmour solo, I make a mental note to avoid that product.
Just sayin.
Watch youtube in a proper browser with adblockers. You'll never see ads again.
Every time I see someone spell David Gilmour's name wrong, I make a mental note to avoid their comment.
@@dixienormous2440 Fair.
USE CZcams VANCED. NO ads
Is that Chuck Leavell on vocals with Gilmore?! Holy Shit! Chuck has played with everyone from The Allman Bros. to Clapton to The Stones. Wow! This is just an amazing version! Wow! Wow! Wow!
yes thats Chuck.
Yep
Gilmour
@@yodude9624 Thanks #GrammerPolice
Who is Chuck Leavell?
Fellas. You need to revisit echoes, live in Gdansk. It will make you cry. Richard Wright's last performance of it. The way Gilmore and Wright communicate through the instruments is so emotional. It's a must watch guys.
100% Agree.
Gilmour has since retired the song after Wright's death.
The ending sounds like they're saying goodbye to each other. Very personal song the two shared that cannot be played with that bond.
No one has ever been able to make a guitar cry and whine with emotion like David GilmourâŠ. đž
There is something amazing about your audio quality. What a song to notice it with.
That's Chuck Leavell; plays with the Stones. David Gilmour is so awesome! Guys, btw that's Jimi Hendrix's guitar strap David is wearing; his wife bought it for him.
One of the best songs ever, no doubt, I would say this song is out of this world.
Forever timelessâ€ïžđ
30 years ago I heard this song about 50 times in a week. He helped me (55) get back on my feet
I saw Pink Floyd live in London 1990 PULSE concert and I will see DAVID GILMOUR play that guitar the day i close my eyes forever . He is GOD's right hand when it come to music a GOAT enough said
11:30 when the soaring guitar reaches into our souls. No words for it.
Please, react to in "In Any Tongue" (Live At Pompeii), that is absolutely amazing! The best Gilmour solo since the Pink Floyd days
He is a ROCK GOD!
Straight in the face! Incredible performance, again, never got bored to watch and listen to David. David is GOD!
David Gilmour đžđ„đ„đ„đ„đ„đ„đ„
When night they performed this concert they broadcasted it in certain theaters in USA. I was blessed to be able to go see it. Beyond amazing. You are correct David is the best guitarist is the world
Absolutely brilliant performance
David Gilmour always take you on a trip with his guitar and his soothing voice.
Pink Floyd never fails to deliver the vibe. Genius.
Thanks Patrick and George.
Flippin' heck, that was fantastic. I absolutely loved Comfortably Numb Live at the Pulse concert but this was brilliant too. Yes, no one can beat David Gilmour with his guitar solos and no one should try because it can't be done. They just take you to another place and I love his vocals too. Fabulous and a great reaction, guys, many thanks. Just to say, you are so lucky receiving these amazing gifts, and it was great to see them!
Of _course _they should try to better it. What a strange thing to say. đ€
Before he played this, nobody had done a performance this good (according to you). So Gilmore shouldn't have bothered to try either, by your 'logic.' Give up at Hendrix; music is 'done'. Or at Mozart. Or sticks on logs.
Nobody gets anywhere thinking like this. No creativity, no innovation, no discovery, no variation.
The best possible _anything_ has already been done better than anyone who went before the people who did best previously. By definition.
Of course Gilmore is exceptionally good, and for the vast majority of people it's going to be an impossible goal to aim for.
Shall we all just give up and go home, then? I'm going to just build a wall, then. Probably not a very good one either; walls have also 'been done.'
@@Varksterable What I was trying to say and I think you misunderstood is that David Gilmour is an exceptional guitarist and his guitar solos are wonderful. Of course there are other fantastic musicians and they are amazing but Gilmour's solos are, in my opinion, unique to him. Other guitarists can play them, of course they can, but can they do better? I don't know. That's all I meant and I'm really sorry if I've upset you.
@@annemaclean6634 Not upset here, I assure you.
And I totally agree that he is an astonishing and probably unique tallent. I've been a fan for many decades.
I was more commenting to point out that online comments made in a hyperbolic, passionate way should probably be treated cautiously.
(Mine included, it seems. đ)
@@Varksterable Yes, I think I got a bit carried away with this particular piece of David Gilmour music. I certainly didn't mean it the way it came over, but his guitar solos are mind blowing.
@@BertSmithLondon They are and I love their music and have loads downloaded. They have their own particular style and are superb in their own way. That's what I meant about David Gilmour - they are all fabulous.
I live in Brighton, England, where David Gilmour lives. A few months back I was in a local stationery store and he was in there buying some paper and pens. Just a regular guy - and I had just watched his Pompeii concert on CZcams. I'm the same as age as DG and just thankful i grew up in the age of Pink Floyd.
Best two reaction great respect shown
Haha watching you lose it over the final solo was epicâŠ..made my day
Donât worry, moves me to tears as well..
The way it just builds and builds and builds at the end never ceases to give goosebumps. Fantastic song.
The way you guys love David Gilmour makes me so happy. Iâve been listening to PF and David since 1973 and it makes as emotional now as it did the first time I listened to it- a gift that lasts a lifetime. Next please from the same concert - Rattle That Lock đđ
It's so nice to see a genuine reaction..By that I mean you really immerse yourself in the music, as opposed to pretending to...I love watching you in raptures, especially when it comes to Comfortably Numb..I've seen a few of your reactions to this song and each time you get more and more euphoric..I really do believe you love David's solo more than any other..And deservedly so..He is the Master of the Guitar..
Can you imagine being in a space capsule looking down upon earth to see this? This is so freaking beautiful! They never disappoint!Killer reaction bros! You were almost as fun to watch as the show! You were both so into the music, I didn't know if you were coming back or you were lost in Pompei forever! Really fantastic reaction!
George, I look just like this every time I
Hear this đžđ§đđđđ
Love Davids....when he sings high..and inspirational....love his voice...brilliantly voice and guitar đž đ
The way i see it...
Brother one (left) is handling this eargasm like a boss.
Brother two (right) is still figuring out WTF just happend to him.
I'm more between it, i've listenend to this live version soooo many times and i take it like a boss but still...everytime i'm listening to it i'm in awww!!
drummer distanislao is in seventh heaven ...
Oohh my goodness David Gilmore still has it, gives me chills through those solos!! Awesome reactions guys!! đ€âïž
Alright now we're ready to Echoes live in Gdansk!!
He is a god, genius, I have been in love with David Gilmore since I was 14 â€ïžđ€Šââïž
Rene is a very kind person how nice to share
This is the best song ever written! Dave Gilmour is THE GOD of the guitar. I could listen to this song, none stop, for ever.
PLZ do echoes live at Gdnask it is the best version of echoes I think there is but also Richard Wrightâs final performance of it and it is the most emotional I get when hearing this final time David and Rick played it
Highly highly recommend it.
Honestly, for me the 'Remember That Night' version from the same tour is superior. They played tighter, the Royal Albert Hall has better acoustics, and the lighting was better too.
@@Pulsar77 agreed but considering this is last performance it hits a little harder for me personally
Please please please YES!
I have requested it several times đ
That line. I caught a fleeting glimpse out of the corner of my eye always gets me back to my memories. So great a song!
Pure class.
It's the solo we don't want to end. And David Gilmour is like the iceman as he plays it. It's heavenly music. I expect Jesus Christ to show up as this music plays.
David Gilmour,,70 years,,, in 2016,,,, the best!!!!!
David Gilmore, the most blessed hands to ever touch a guitar.
You're reaction is absolutely priceless....looking forward to seeing the rest of your reactions
The master
Very few can claim Mastery of the guitar. David is one of them.
That solo is a masterpiece , blows any mind...
Great reaction boys. It is the best ever...never to be outdone. I wrote a comment a couple of years ago that is there ever was an orgasmic song showing the build up and the climax at the end...this is it... and you played the part perfect....and then the comment "I have to go to the bathroom" nailed it......wicked!!!
Greatest solo ever
Master Gilmour has spoken! Thanks for this, never seen this rendition.
Perfection. That is all.
Inside Looking out...GFR!!!!!!
Your comments are so right he is s genius amazing and Roger waters another one but David special
This performance proves I think That David Gilmour is arguably the most humble, versatile, and consumate musician of our time and at 70 and at the end of that show his voice is still there. Amazing reaction from you both. After this that black Strat and most of his other guitars were auctioned off for charity!! What a god!
Aw this made me so happy!!!!
in any tongue - David Gilmour reaction!!
More than the Pulse performance, I like this performance of Comfortably Numb. Just beautiful, and thank you for the reaction.
Has to be the coolest 70yo around!đ€Ł
I had a big smile watching you both open the beautiful gifts. Iâm so glad you decided to react to Gilmourâs Pompaii concert, he really is an icon. Hopefully youâll continue to react to a few more songs from Pompaii
Brethren, for me, the way you comment and love Gilmour, if I could, for the respect I have for you, I would give one of the concerts I saw with Gilmour and Pink Floyd to choose to see in my place, for that you deserve this and carry on the soul of this incomparable band ... I love you!
That moved me to tears.
Only Sir David Gilmour can do that.
ROCK GOD!!
I already left you a comment about "Comfortably Numb" at Live Pulse. I saw Pink Floyd in 1987 and 1994 in Cologne and it was simply out of this world and what this concerts did to the audience could be seen at the end. The absolute majority of the audience, including us, left the stadium speechless and like numbed. This silence in the huge arena, which was interrupted only now and then by devout whispering, was really impressive. And on the drive backs to our hometown, not a single word was exchanged in the car, because everyone was still deep in their own "Pink Floyd world".
I can imagine that it was the same with David Gimore in Pompei.
And the heavens opened and a voice from on high proclaimed let thee solo and solo he did!
Amazing gifts guys. Wow!
They do a beautiful version of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" during this Gilmour Pompeii concert. Highly recommend it!! Also the opening number "5:00 A.M." ...short but so so sweet instrumental. Maybe you can do them both together. Another great reaction guys!!
There's some really wonderful examples of his solo stuff here too. In Any Tongue is a msterpiece, and David's live power when they're performing it's completely electric.
Chuck Leavell on the Organ doing the intro vocals, and the other pianist is/was Michael Jackson's Concert Director. The Drummer, Steve Destanaslao (spelt wrong I'm sure) has played in Gilmour's 2 solo concerts, in this one and the one in 2006. Guy Pratt obviously on Bass, and in the band since the Delicate Sound of Thunder tour in '89. Gilmour is the GOAT as far as I'm concerned. I add my vote for the Gdansk version of Echoes, but there are a lot of songs that haven't been reacted to yet.
Live 8 pink floyd, 24 min so emotional, plissss
Imagine that being your dad or grandad! David you will always be the greatest guitarist now and forever!
If you donât feel more alive after that solo you are dead inside!
David Gilmore....is special..because his zodiac...is creative and musically....a Pisces..
p.s...that black strat is worth 5 million. I know it's tone and it has Spirit.
David Gilmour was the first live act in that amphitheater since 79AD and that is what he brought for everyone to enjoy. You guys need to react to Sorrow from the same concert
I saw this show when it was on the US leg of the tour. The lady sitting beside me cried when this song was performed.
