  • Another first for me reacting to David Gilmour from Pink Floyd. I wasn't the hugest fan of this kind of music growing up so I rarely listened to it. Only heard a few songs here & there. I'm happy that CZcams is around and all this footage and music has been preserved so people like me that hasn't been exposed to much of this music can experience it now 😁
I'm just a regular guy who loves music and have been playing drums for many years (20 years). I just grew up loving Numetal and as I got older I listened to even heavier music to a point that I just wanted to experience other genres So, that's why I'm here just for the love of music & discovery 😊
& oh boy! this was an awesome discovery! Would love to watch some older Pink Floyd music - If you have any suggestions please let me know! :D
Hope you guys enjoy the reaction 😊 If you did please don't forget to smash that like 👍 & Subscribe 📺

Pink Floyd is my favorite band and Comfortably Numb is my favorite song. As fantastic as this performance is, it's David on a solo tour and he's 70 years young here. You really should go back and experience the studio version, the live version from 1980, and the 1994 live version from PULSE restored and re-edited to experience this song fully. Love your channel, man!

I was fortunate enough to see David Gilmour on this tour when it came through Chicago in 2016. It was amazing, obviously, and hearing the classic Pink Floyd songs (along with David Gilmour's solo music) was wonderful. Pink Floyd shows often featuring elaborate laser light shows, which David Gilmour included on this tour. He was 70 years old that year, and he still had that same haunting quality to his voice, and the guitar playing was thrilling. David Gilmour is going to release a new solo album this fall. He has a new single and music video out right now called 'Between Two Points' that features his daughter Romany on lead vocal, with David on guitar. It's a beautiful, haunting song. As far as Pink Floyd goes, I suggest the song 'Sorrow' from the Pulse concert from 1994. The Pulse concert also features Pink Floyd band members Nick Mason on drums and keyboardist Richard Wright on keyboards (Richard Wright passed away in 2008).

Right at the end the guy that goes up to him is Guy Pratt, he was a big part of Pink Floyd and played at the Pulse concert 1994 in London, he was the keyboard player, Richard Wright's son in law.

    • @erksworld9661
      @erksworld9661 Před 14 dny

Also, Guy's father was Mike Pratt who starred as Jeff Randall in the original 1960s TV series Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased).
I was at Gilmour's second night in Pompeii, one of the best gig experiences of my life. Afterwards I happened upon a place called Barrett Café not far from the 'old Pompeii' exit - enjoyed a beer there, a perfect way to round off a very special evening.

Yes - and it's also pretty much the complete Pink Floyd (Gilmour, Mason and Wright). I consider this concert to be perhaps the best in the history of modern music. Whatever you listen to of this performance, you will find it to be a gem - not just musically, but visually. If you want another of Gilmour's famous performances, then I recommend "Sorrow" or "Run Like Hell", and from the "Wish You Were Here" album, either this title track or "Shine On You Crazy Diamond". By the way - they played the complete album The Dark Side Of The Moon on this gig, so for example "The Great Gig In The Sky" is phenomenal here too!

There are other live versions that some people hold in higher regard than this one. I saw it live in 94 and it blew my mind. But this one has become my favorite. His age, wisdom, the grittier tone of his guitar. Maybe it’s because I’m older too now. But this is the one I keep coming back to.

OKAY.. you sked for recommendations. So here's one for you. Its from a concert in 1994 and it's Pink Floyd. It's a song called "Sorrow" from the Pulse concert. With three original members in the band.... David Gilmour obviosuly, Rick Wright on Keyboards and Nick Mason on the drums. It's another banger of a guitar solo from David but playing with the band ths time.... It's soemthing special. I've subscribed because I wan to floow along on your Pink Floyd journey. I was 14 when they relesed their first album in 1967 so I guess you could say I have had them with me all my life.. I even got to see them play live a couple of times.... I've included the link to the live version because Pink Floyd and David are always stunning when you see the shows. Keep on Rocking and enjoying the music man.

    Liked Subbed Shared.
Loved the reaction. Gilmour is a force, but Pink Floyd has many faces and incarnations, so there's plenty to suggest. There's another great song off of "The Wall" called "Hey You", to give you a bit more context and also is a great song, the studio version is pristine, Pink Floyd engineering is A1 for the era. Also, I've never seen a decent live version of it.

Most of Pink Floyd's albums were designed/intended to be listened to their entirety front-to-back....Unfortunately few people do this anymore due to perceived lack of time. But definitely recommend you check out Dark Side of the Moon (still one of the all-time top selling albums). And The Wall of course. And everything else they did. A Momentary Lapse of Reason is probably my favorite album (this is after Roger Waters, but David Gilmour on full display!). You could spend a straight 3 months 'studying' the music of Pink Floyd and still not get all of it!

I'd say Wish You Were Here is their masterpiece and I think Animals is very underated. Not much of a fan of Momentary Lapse if I'm honest. It made you realise that they needed Roger Waters (and his solo stuff very much shows that he needed them too!).

This is one of the better solo performances by David.
The late 1980's performance of Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd was much much better.
The 1994 Pulse performance is the Holy Grail of Rock / Pop music performance.
Do yourself a favour and react to the 1994 Pulse version, you will be ecstatic you did, as will your audience.
Then, from the same Pulse concert, react to Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Wish You Were Here, The Great Gig In The Sky and Run Like Hell.
Then the recorded version of Mother........after those selections, you will be hooked on Pink Floyd for life, and ready for Echoes, live in Pompeii, from 1971.

You got the gist of the message of this song, but do you know where the idea behind the album The Wall came from?
Montreal 1977, last stop of the tour (In The Flesh), in front of an audience of more than 80,000 spectators, partially intoxicated by more than four hours of waiting. The crowd is noisy, which greatly exasperates Roger Waters (bass player and lyricist), to the point of inviting a young spectator to approach the stage, in order to spit in the face of the young man.
Subsequently, Roger regretted this unsightly gesture, but the idea of separating the band from the crowd by a WALL came to him. In the 1980s and 1981, Pink Floyd presented their The Wall tour. The scenic arrangement of the tour is particularly impressive, notably with the live construction of a 12-meter-high cardboard brick WALL separating the band from the spectators during the concert.
