Because it was still a coming of age story, only instead of growing up through the loss of her parents she is choosing instead to save her father's life by potentially sacrificing her own. So we still see a person we want to be like (someone willing to give their life for that of our relative's) without the parent death to get her there. Also she still gets isolated from her family and can be seen as 'dishonorable' for being unsuitable for marriage
Related to Him Hawkins from Treasure Planet. Them parental abandonment feels, man. Just his entire rebellious attitude from being a kid of divorce, watching his single mother work herself ragged, but also not having a constructive way to vent frustrations. Jim was actually kinda a genius for the solar surfers he built and the way he understood the map. Remember how he built a surfer in like five seconds? Or how when he finally had a father figure that encouraged him, he flourished? Jim's entire story was so good and hit home so hard. I need to rewatch that movie.
When my family adopted my 7yr old brother from China (Mulan is his favorite movie btw), I noticed the lack of Disney movies with happy adoptive families. There is Meet the Robinsons and... that's it. The orphans either go back to find their birth parents or people group (repunzel, jungle book) or their parent(s) just die. It would be nice to see some more pro-adoption Disney movies in the future.

Hey Ben, so this is a Pixar theory, but what if Bonnie is Boo's mother? Since the Monsters travel back in time to when Boo is a toddler, they could have gone to far enough after Toy Story 3 that Bonnie could grow up with Andy's toys, and pass some of them down to her daughter, Mary Gibbs. So then Bonnie must have married a man with the last name Gibbs.
Why not just make interesting families? I mean, as interesting as orphan protagonists are, why not make interesting families? Think like the Incredibles: they were interesting as a unit, but also as individuals. Why not have an alchemist who found their interest with the guidance of their grandparents? A kid who became so frustrated by their parents’ divorce that they ran away from home and became a boxer? Triplets who were destined to be the chosen one and were secretly mentored by their older sister cause the parents wanted to protect them? You can have families still be interesting for a story cause guess what? Lots of kids have dysfunctional families, and feel they don’t have an outlet. Kid protagonists with dysfunctional families that not only win, but thrive by their own grit would be a great message. Just as good as a coming of age orphan story.
1. Jasmine doesn't have a mother 2. Kida lost her mother in Atlantis the Lost Empire 3. Nemo's mother died 4. Arthur's parents in Sword in the Stone are gone 5. Cinderella lost her mother then her father 6. Lilo lost both her parents in a car crash 7. Tod's mother dies in Fox in the Hound we don't even know where his father is 8. Andy from Toy Story is missing a father he has a mother but no dad 9. Rescuers Down Under Cody doesn't have a father 10. Beast is missing both of his parents
If Pixar counts, Flik from A Bug's Life was the first character I ever related to. I'm a creative person, and Flik made it seem cool to be inventive. Plus he was an awkward outsider in his ant colony, and I missed out on developing social skills correctly (because of a severe childhood illness). So subconsciously I just saw myself in his shoes. (Even though ants don't wear them.)
You know what is interesting? Most Disney characters have dead parents or a dead parent. Or sometimes they are separated (like Aurora or Rapunzel). But the one I find most interesting is Jim Hawkins in Treasure Planet. *Spoilers if you haven't seen the movie* He lives with his single mother, but then in a music montage you see flashbacks of his childhood and see that his father just got up left left them, abandoning his wife and child.
I was actually just thinking this when I saw the title. And it's kind of funny, because in the book Jim's dad died of illness and he seemed very close with his father. At the same time, though, having his father walk out on them makes a lot more sense to the Treasure Planet narrative especially with it being a futuristic interpretation to connect with a modern audience. (Not to mention, it helps explain some of Jim's psychology and why he took to connecting with someone like Silver.)
Claire Firedragon They never really revealed Jim's father. I know it focuses on Jim Hawking and his adventures but somethimy bugged me. Jim was traveling along side PIRATES he should have found his dad by now. Or DID he already? Please don't hate me for this. I just want to get this out there. What if he was working with his father all along and he just never knew it? I mean it has been 12 years since the dad left. I think we can assume he was 5 years old when the dad left. Or maybe 4. It would have been a long time since he last saw his dad. And who knows? His dad might have gotten into the pirating business. We barely know anything about him exept for him leaving his family. What if Captain Silver was his father? I mean Silver might be a menacing cyborg pirate with a tendency to betray his crew but it could be possible. I mean,it's been 12 years. A lot could happen to a man's appearance in 12 years. The first time we see the dad,his body(which is the only thing we see in the flashback)looks like the body Jim would have when hes an adult. But in 12 years of raiding and being a pirate, the mystery dad could be John Silver after years of being a pirate. And Jim wouldn't know a thing. I mean,if that's not evidence, would about Silver's attitude toward Jim? In beginning Silver was indifferent towards the kid. But when the movie progressed we get to see Silver's fatherly side. He actually seems to care for Jim's well being and actually calls him Jimbo repeatedly. Something a father might do. And when the other pirates where planning to take over the ship and they suggested killing the boy in the most gruesome way possible,Silver prevented that from happening. I never looked for clues or cared about the mystery identity of the dad the first few times I watched the movie. But the clues are there. Pointing to Silver being the father. If I'm wrong about this... Would anyone with better knowledge clarify this theory? Oh and btw, this is my first theory. Don't hate me for it.
UltimateNinja10 Its an interesting theory. If you believe it thats fine, I'm not a huge theory person. But I will say Jim was more like 7 or 8 when his dad left in the flashback. He is much older and taller than he was in the beginning of the movie.
I'm a writer and I can honestly say that killing off parents in the beginning does allow the character to develop past that. It allows them to rise up and look all the more heroic seeing as they came from such sad origins, and the Disney character I most relate to is Belle. I've always been a bookworm
I'm not arguing that, the line just feeds into the theory that happy families/happy situations don't make interesting stories. (this is also something i don't believe in a 100%, but cannot deny that conflict/tragedy/a protagonist will move a story along better rather than love and acceptance.)
That's why she's my favorite! I'm a nerd and I can relate to her the most! There are a few others I relate to in other ways, but Belle was the first one that came to mind
I commented a few years back saying "when you're famous, don't forget me". you replied back saying "never" and I'm here to check back since yall now have 1mill and I'm wondering, Did y'all forget me??
Because he was horny. Seriously, most versions like Ever After and live action Cinderella attempt to show a mutual love between the step-mother and Cinderellas father... but it's never enough affection or time to warrant marriage. Him wanting to get laid on the other hand, is far more plausible.
I think the father didn't want to be alone. In a book called Alfie The Doorstep Cat, a woman called Claire falls in love with a man called Joe, who was sweet at first but starts turning horrible to Claire, and Alfie's reasoning for it is because he heard of humans rather wanting to be treated horribly than wanting to be alone. Btw that's not the plot of the book, I took that from the book to explain how Cinderella's father didn't notice, just as Claire in the book didn't notice.
Elsa. I'm autistic and her story very much resonated with me. The constant pressure to hide certain traits causing so much anxiety. Being seen as a monster by others. I want to get a snowflake tattoo because I relate to her so much.
I definitely hear where you're coming from. It's not fair that autistic people are treated like monsters in our society. I'm very sorry for the discrimination that you've had to face. If you wanted to talk more about this I would love to continue the conversation (I don't know if youtube has a private message but I'm willing to email or whatever works for you).
Wouldn't getting a snowflake tattoo just get people to call you a special snowflake? (Please note I don't mean any offense by this, I just like to make bad jokes and I myself am high functioning autistic)
The title made me think of the Studio C video where Matt lists all the parentless Disney characters, and the list goes on for like a minute and a half. (Called "Disney Plans Heroes Death")
I relate the most with Merida from Brave who ironically has both of her parents. It's because I'm a teenage girl myself and have always hated how princesses, especially Disney ones, end up with a guy at the end of their films, sometimes even from a betrothed marriage that happened to work out. Don't get me wrong, I've always been one of those girls who runs around in a tiara and wants to be a Disney princess but I haven't had my first crush, kiss, boyfriend, etc and I'm fifteen. Instead I'm much more of a nerd with a doll obsession as well as one with books. I read Harry Potter as early as first grade and quite a few times by third. But my point is I connected more with Merida because she felt real. She doesn't get any guy, just freedom. She loves her horse more than doing housework. She's adventurous and bold and doesn't listen and isn't a reactionary character like Cinderella or Snow White. And she has both of her parents. Her story is about accepting her fate but also changing it, kind of like what you hear in Captain America: Civil War. Compromise where you can, but where you can't, don't. Merdia does just this. She spends the movie getting to know her mother and changing her mind while going on an adventure that brings her mother to her world outside the castle. The reward is a change in how marriages are done and Merida and the other suitors get to choose rather than fill their parents' expectations and wishes. My parents and I all agree (and my little brother can sit through the movie unlike other princess ones so I'll give him credit too) that Merida is the easiest to understand and connect with. I'm aware people don't favor her or her movie, but I think she deserves more credit. :) ~kiki Edit: I'm very sorry this is long. As I've said in the replies, I'm a very wordy person who loves to write. I never expected people to actually read this or to reply, I was doing it more for fun than anything else. Also, I'd like to add that yes, Merida's movie is a Pixar movie, but Disney owns Pixar. She is also an official Disney princess. So, yes, she is Disney. If you want to look at produced from Disney only, my favorites for similar reasons are Tiana, Anna, Rapunzel, and Moana. And since everyone thinks this is apparently my life story, I'll add "thank you for reading my life story" but I should say "thank you for reading a giant comment about my favorite Disney princess and my argument to why she is my favorite and supporting bits about where I'm coming from. For those who think the Harry Potter bit is irrelevant, I'm just pointing out that I would prefer to read, and have for years, than go out on a date or hang out with friends, which leaves me alot of time for movies. It just helps to explain that I'm a LITTLE different than what you might think and have always had a foot in the fantasy/book/movie world.
The Small Lovable Heart Here is your flaw: Merida is a Disney princess! She did star in a Pixar film, but Pixar is owned by Disney and there is a reason people say Disney-Pixar. She has had an official ceremony to become a Disney princess. I hope this brings some clarity to why she still applies even though she is not soley Disney, she was created by a branch of Disney. ~kiki
1d af kermit She's my second favorite. I've recently rewatched the Princess and the Frog and she's definitely a character I can get behind, though Merida will always be my favorite. (I'm a HUGE Disney-Pixar fan and basically every branch of Disney I will love) I love that she isn't driven by romance and blindly marrying someone, but the thing that stops me a bit is that there is a part of the movie where she would choose being with Naveen as a frog that she's known for only a few days and will give up her restaurant. She can always "fight" for him once they're human again, so that will always hold me be but from a story point of view I am aware why that part was included (conflict). But regardless I do really love her ~kiki
Even when I was a little child, I was able to relate to Belle the most. Not only is her exterior (hair- and eyecolor) similar to mine, but we've always shared the same interests (love for books) and values (that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder).
My friend is a writer, and she says that parent-child relationships are often very complicated and hard to write, so a lot of authors just opt for leaving out parents or getting rid of them very soon in their stories.
Just a quick question, but does anyone else notice the similarities between Pocahontas and Moana, you see they both have a grandmother figure that they both look up to and they both have a disagreement with their parent(s) over the same thing: FREEDOM, oh and of course they are both daughters of a chief, they both wear a necklace which is very important to them and they both are trying to find who they are by following the ocean(lake) they both have two pets Pocahontas has a raccoon and a hummingbird and Moana has a pig and a chicken they also try to find their way by using the wind, Pocahontas the black arrow and Moana the sail on her canoe and JUST LOOK AT THEM they sera look alike.
Unlikely that they're related, given their geographic locations. Pacific islanders were (and some still remain) exceptionally talented ocean goers, but given that Pocahontas lived on the Atlantic Coast, the likelihood of them or their descendents being in the same area before the mid 19th century (at the very earliest) is practically zero. Interesting theory, but an improbable one.
what about quasimodo? his (probably adoptive) mother is killed on-screen, and his father (?) is arrested and presumably killed later. i’ve always theorized that his real parents probably abandoned him because of his deformity and he was found by the romani/gypsy woman.
That theory does make a lot of sense since Quasi was way to pale to be a child of romani/gypsy couple we see in the begining of the movie. (unless of we consider albinoisme but i don't think Quasi had that.)
Hey Ben I have a question if all smurfs are men and smurfette isn't a real smurf than how did the smurfs become smurfs like how were they made please do a video for it .
Ben, I think I've always related to Belle in a strange sense. When I was a kid I used to feel like I stood out in a strange way but back then my head was so full of unrealistic dreams and my imagination really did take me above where I back then would never have considered. So yeah!
There's also Princess Aurora who had her parents live, Mulan who had both of her parents and her grandmother, and Hercules who had both his parents and foster parents live (granted in that story it would have been difficult to off his blood family seeing as they're gods but they could have killed one of his foster parents). Oh, and I almost forgot the most recent addition to the living parents: Moana.
Yeah idk if this counts either but Judy Hopps' parents survive. They don't do too much, but they are sort of an early obstacle to her becoming a police officer.
All Disney and pixar and Lucas films parents that have died: Cinderellas Real mum and dad Ariels Mom The General(I think) in mulan Esmeralda's Mom Mufasa Now, for pixar *Inhale* Ellie( she isn't a parent what what the heck) Coral( Thanks a lot, Barracuda.) Lucas films: Darth Vader Padamè( if I spelt it wrong) Han Solo Jango Fett *MY FINGERS*
Question (maybe SuperCarlin Brothers can answer this comment and like if u agree) why hasnt Disney made a movie of a kid with diviorced parents? Isnt half the worlds population divorced people anyway? Something we can actually relate to??
Angie, Well we don't want to romanticize divorce. I feel like all making a divorced couple would do is make it more normal that it should be... but that might just be me
It probably has some thing to do with the whole princess aspect. There's no such thing as divorce among royal. King Henry of England had to make a whole new religion (the church of England) just to get rid of Catherine of Argonon. If royals ever do split it's because one died (sometimes because their spouse had them murdered) or they are thrown of the country in exile (usually the woman because patriarchy)
Shuzzlin' reader, That's a good point. However, we can't forget the more "realistic" movies, where the main character isnt royalty. I always wondered why Disney doesnt do any stories about Princes, I've always wanted to see one of those.
Good video!^^ I'd like to point out that the fairytales were made in an era where death during childbirth- waaaay more common. But removing the 'guiding hand' the main character has to step up, regardless of their predicament. There is no parent or guardian to take that place, and I feel like that's part of why we encourage and root for the main char. All in all, you got the right of it, I just had to add my 2 cent.^^
I love and relate to belle because we look alike, are curious, and love to read. I also always loved that she was strong enough to say no to Gaston who was probably the most powerful guy in town.
This is a Harry Potter theory. The diary in a the second Harry Potter film is destroyed by Basilisk venom. In the same movie, Harry is stabbed in the arm by a basilisk fang. If the fang destroyed the soul in the diary, shouldn't it have destroyed the soul in Harry, and if so, why are harry and Voldemort still connected? Is Harry made a horcruc twice?
LolaSS S Yes, if Harry had died in the Chamber of Secrets, so would the horcrux. Remember that the others had to be destroyed beyond magical repair. The host was restored, therefore the soul shard survived.
At that point he was slowly dying. Dying but still alive. When fawke's tears cured the venom, he was saved from death. That's why horcrux still lived despite that
I think disney parents are so dead because walt, in fear of dying, took the souls of the parents in order to live forever. Unfortunately, he died before he had enough souls. And to this day disney is still collecting souls to resurrect walt.
I love how you said not, "Why are they dead?" but, "Why are they SO dead?" Who do I most relate to? Wow, that's a hard one...but...all of them have happy endings...so... None of them? :(
Hmmmm... I'm a hazel-eyed brunette, a bookworm, I live in a village, people around think me funny and weird (some of them because of my beliefs, some of them because of the amount of fangirling I'm capable of), there is this one good looking guy who wants to date me (we wouldn't hit it off)... now I'm just waiting around to be captured by a creep who will turn out pretty neat in the end 😎
Just saying the reason why all the parents that died is so the main character has to grow up by them selves and katnese 's mother didn't die it was her sister.
Exactly. Harry's parents would never have let him wander around causing mischief, and Luke Skywalker could not have gone to save the galaxy if he'd had a single living parental figure (who wasn't, you know, the threat to the galaxy). Even Percy Jackson had to have his mom kidnapped and presumed dead to set the events in motion.
fazeed kotta: It's a Once Upon A Time reference. There were 8 dwarfs, but Stealthy, the 8th, was killed in the assault on the Evil Queen's castle. I think that's what happened. Gotta go watch it again. XD
As a writer, I can confirm that pretty much all of my teenage/child characters are either a) orphans, b) have only one parent or c) have serious parental issues, and simply for the fact that it makes the story more interesting. The standard "2 parents, 2.5 kids, a dog, and a white picket fence" makes for a very boring story. Basically, boring characters = boring story. Troubled teen/child characters = a better story.
Wait, I thought it was easy. The story has to kill of a stronger strength for a less strong protagonist to try and be able to relate with and have a good moral.
Parents hold you back its a obstacle to overcome if they don't exist the character can progress imagine you story with the dad saying "aren't you a little to old to play with them damn toys Andy?"
NOT ALL Disney Parents die. There are Aurora's parents, Mulan's, Rapunzel's, Merida's, Moana's, Jim Hawkin's, Riley's, both parents in The Incredibles... heck Hercules's biological AND adopted parents were all fine
total·sax·sap Well the Incredible's parents stayed because they were such a crucial part in the story. If they had died it would've been different in most likely an uninteresting manner. There wouldn'tve been conflicts with the main supervillian and they would've lived a boring life. For the majority of the movies listed, it's all because the parents didn't play an important role. Say Rapunzel's parents died when she was away at the castle. Would that effect the main plot of the movie? No. Most of the parents have very little screen time.
Laughed so hard at 4:28 because other than the cleaning of the room, everything was true about my childhood, right down to 30 minutes of video games (30 minutes turns for each kid) and helping clean up dinner.)

Possibly Inside Out too
It is a bit of a niche market. Most people aren't adopted as it happens. Not saying it wouldn't be nice but there isn't much incentive to do it (also Simba was totally adopted by Timon and Pumba).

JCR Prod. Co. Same, not the illness but I've always been treated like an outsider at school because I'm creative and different. Like flik
I'm German and I didn't realized at first it was a German word when you said Bildungsroman. xD
Haha same but I'm Austrian :)
Good thinking not-Franklin.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
🤣
Completely and totally!
"Happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way."
- First line of Anna Karenina
Also super false. Happy families are not alike.
I'm not arguing that, the line just feeds into the theory that happy families/happy situations don't make interesting stories. (this is also something i don't believe in a 100%, but cannot deny that conflict/tragedy/a protagonist will move a story along better rather than love and acceptance.)
"Good thinking, Not Franklin!!"
😂😂
I relate to Bell because I love to read and learn and explore, but some think I'm weird for it
TheNerdy30 same!
That's why she's my favorite! I'm a nerd and I can relate to her the most! There are a few others I relate to in other ways, but Belle was the first one that came to mind
TheNerdy30 me too...plus my whole school thinks I am the weirdest person ever. I just tell the so was belle...and belle is a princess now👸👑
Thank you fellow person! Im the same way.
I relate most to Ariel. I grew up in a family with tons of siblings, overly strict parents, and I was always dreaming of being some place else.

I am sorry that you feel that way about your parents.
Yet being an angry teenager might have something to do with your difficult situation.
Relatable character- Olaf. "I've been impaled. I can't feel my legs. Where did they walk off too?" I mean, who can't relate to that?
I commented a few years back saying "when you're famous, don't forget me". you replied back saying "never" and I'm here to check back since yall now have 1mill and I'm wondering, Did y'all forget me??

iiTrachea Puzzle not question
I believe it's "what a Puzzle to the rest of us" and I definitely relate to Belle as well.
You missed Cinderella... whose whole story happens because of her dead parents
I don't understand how the father didn't see the stepmothers evilness
Because he was horny. Seriously, most versions like Ever After and live action Cinderella attempt to show a mutual love between the step-mother and Cinderellas father... but it's never enough affection or time to warrant marriage. Him wanting to get laid on the other hand, is far more plausible.
jerricho11 it could also deal with finances since plp married for money and status
But normally it's the guy with the money and the girl only has a dowry.
Omg this has been a question I've always had but never bothered to ask.
*reads title* Because it's Disney's way of saying- "This is a Disney movie"
it's Disney's way of saying screw your parents and be an individual
I'm Keith I'm not Gay.
Pranav Muralitharan Cause it's not called being gay. It's called being FABULOUS!!!! *See what I did there*

Because what parents let their children go on crazy Adventures that they could die on like 5 times a day
i know this was commented 2 years ago but read the Percy Jackson books, that’ll answer your question lol
Elsa. I'm autistic and her story very much resonated with me. The constant pressure to hide certain traits causing so much anxiety. Being seen as a monster by others. I want to get a snowflake tattoo because I relate to her so much.
Annie Leonhardt that sounds amazing!
I know autistic people and they are so nice.I wish people would just treat everyone thr same
Be bold and dont let people get you down!!!! Hope you get that tattoo :) :)
Wouldn't getting a snowflake tattoo just get people to call you a special snowflake? (Please note I don't mean any offense by this, I just like to make bad jokes and I myself am high functioning autistic)
You forgot Lilo and Nani :'(
Nani was Lilo's sister. Both of their parents passed away.

:) ~kiki
Edit: I'm very sorry this is long.
It just helps to explain that I'm a LITTLE different than what you might think and have always had a foot in the fantasy/book/movie world.
pinkbubbles But here's your flaw, "Brave" is a Pixar film. Not Disney!
pinkbubbles I was going to say mostly the same thing (but shorted) and you pretty much said it
pinkbubbles i reccomend you loving Tiana. Her main focus and working and opening her own restaurant

I'VE ASKED MYSELF THIS QUESTION MY WHOLE LIFE! IM SO HAPPY YOU MADE THIS VIDEO 😂😂🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
I clicked one video. Now I'm at the 19th.
I've been binge watching.
My friend is a writer, and she says that parent-child relationships are often very complicated and hard to write, so a lot of authors just opt for leaving out parents or getting rid of them very soon in their stories.
BROTHER, HELP ME!!!

Foto Vea Maybe Pocahontas is Moana's ancestor? Or vice versa?
Unlikely that they're related, given their geographic locations. Pacific islanders were (and some still remain) exceptionally talented ocean goers, but given that Pocahontas lived on the Atlantic Coast, the likelihood of them or their descendents being in the same area before the mid 19th century (at the very earliest) is practically zero. Interesting theory, but an improbable one.
Omg you're right :O
what about quasimodo? his (probably adoptive) mother is killed on-screen, and his father (?) is arrested and presumably killed later. i’ve always theorized that his real parents probably abandoned him because of his deformity and he was found by the romani/gypsy woman.
That theory does make a lot of sense since Quasi was way to pale to be a child of romani/gypsy couple we see in the begining of the movie. (unless of we consider albinoisme but i don't think Quasi had that.)
Yeah...that movie departed from the source material significantly, but it was still incredibly dark for a "children's" movie.
Ahh, I miss Aang
Sean Wilson i miss Iroh and Zuko and Sokka and Katara and Toph and Momo and Appa and Azula and Atla is just a great cartoon

So yeah!
Rapunzel is not only with living parents, we have Merida.
Merida kinda despised her mother and turned her into a bear. Rapunzel got separated. Also Brave is Pixar sooo...
Pixar is owned by Disney sooo...
Aurora didn't know her parents until her sixteenth birthday.
Yeah idk if this counts either but Judy Hopps' parents survive. They don't do too much, but they are sort of an early obstacle to her becoming a police officer.
Perfect CAN be interesting! If you pull it off right.
You bros should start a podcast

All Disney and pixar and Lucas films parents that have died:
Cinderellas Real mum and dad
Ariels Mom
The General(I think) in mulan
Esmeralda's Mom
Mufasa
Now, for pixar *Inhale*
Ellie( she isn't a parent what what the heck)
Coral( Thanks a lot, Barracuda.)
Lucas films:
Darth Vader
Padamè( if I spelt it wrong)
Han Solo
Jango Fett
*MY FINGERS*
And Lilo and Nani's parents.
Question (maybe SuperCarlin Brothers can answer this comment and like if u agree) why hasnt Disney made a movie of a kid with diviorced parents? Isnt half the worlds population divorced people anyway? Something we can actually relate to??
May I mention The Parent Trap? Never seen it? Netflix.
Parent Trap was first made in the 60s. The 90s one is a remake.
Nobody's family is perfect
I love and relate to belle because we look alike, are curious, and love to read. I also always loved that she was strong enough to say no to Gaston who was probably the most powerful guy in town.
THIS IS THE EARLIEST IVE EVER BEEN FOR A VIDEO!!!

LolaSS S I think it's because voldemort had to kill Harry himself for the piece of his soul to be killed, as discussed in the later books
That's why horcrux still lived despite that
I´ve never related to any character in the world as much as I do with Judy Hopps honestly
Paulina Bringas idiot that's an accent I've not I`ve
#Zootopia
I think disney parents are so dead because walt, in fear of dying, took the souls of the parents in order to live forever. Unfortunately, he died before he had enough souls. And to this day disney is still collecting souls to resurrect walt.
EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yep you know that’s what I thought (sarcasm)
This is actually terrifying
Basically any story with ‘to this day’ at the end is terrifying

I relate to moana so much because i love the ocean and the outdoors but my parent don't take us on vacations :(
I love how you said not, "Why are they dead?" but, "Why are they SO dead?"
Who do I most relate to? Wow, that's a hard one...but...all of them have happy endings...so... None of them? :(

i related the most to none of them. my life is as boring as dirt.

Merry A wow, that's uncanny
Btw, Belle has brown eyes, they just look hazel in some scenes
Merry A when people ask me how hard I can fangirl, I make like the Evil Queen from OUAT and say "you have NO idea what I'm capable of"
Hahaha... when Did you have time to think of this 'poem'?
+Gabi Garzon yaaass!
Merry A same situation.
Just saying the reason why all the parents that died is so the main character has to grow up by them selves and katnese 's mother didn't die it was her sister.
+Jax Wise. Her dad was dead at the start of the story
Her dad was dead, Prim dies later
Yup. Kitniss' mother totally lives. Her father on the other hand...
Super unnecessary spoiler detected
Who df is Katnese never heard of her
I think the hero's parents aren't there because if they do have a parental figure they wouldn't be able to do stuff like they can without
That's why most YA books either have dead, divorced, or absent parents
Or ya know just neglectful
Remember Andy's dad from Toy Story. No, really?
Ronnie Chiaffino thought of the same thing!
Ronnie Chiaffino there's a theory around the parents being divorced

As a writer, I can confirm that pretty much all of my teenage/child characters are either a) orphans, b) have only one parent or c) have serious parental issues, and simply for the fact that it makes the story more interesting. The standard "2 parents, 2.5 kids, a dog, and a white picket fence" makes for a very boring story.
Basically, boring characters = boring story. Troubled teen/child characters = a better story.
I always wanted to be every Disney character
hi
Kimberly Mosqueda as long as I'm not a Disney parent then same😂
Wait, I thought it was easy. The story has to kill of a stronger strength for a less strong protagonist to try and be able to relate with and have a good moral.
Exactly. The video could've been 2 minutes long.
Who else went back to see what shirt Ben was wearing before he showed the Olaf shirt? 😂😂👌
It looks like some kind of lion king one with pumba on it
Nathan Rivers yes!!!!
Parents hold you back its a obstacle to overcome if they don't exist the character can progress imagine you story with the dad saying "aren't you a little to old to play with them damn toys Andy?"
Mulan also had both her parents. Arguably half the main cast of Frozen did too.
Wait, what ever happened to Christoph's parents?
INB4 new video
NOT ALL Disney Parents die. There are Aurora's parents, Mulan's, Rapunzel's, Merida's, Moana's, Jim Hawkin's, Riley's, both parents in The Incredibles... heck Hercules's biological AND adopted parents were all fine
And Hercules was taken away too.
total·sax·sap Well the Incredible's parents stayed because they were such a crucial part in the story.
Yummy Trashbin um Pixar is Disney
total·sax·sap most of those are Pixar movies
And with Moana the grandma died which was practically one of her parents(or is a parent to her father)
Amelia Rabun Pixar is a separate company who owns/created certain movies with Disney. There is Disney, there is Pixar, and there is Disney Pixar
Why was Branch's grandma taken by a bergen in the Trolls movie, but all the other trolls left alone?
Because plot convenience. Duh. (I've actually never even seen the movie, but my answer is probably still true.)
Laughed so hard at 4:28 because other than the cleaning of the room, everything was true about my childhood, right down to 30 minutes of video games (30 minutes turns for each kid) and helping clean up dinner.)
