      I normally do but I think I stress over it too much... I keep looking at calories. Not that I should be eating 3,000 calories, but keto really keeps me from overeating. I think I need a little break to lazy Keto for awhile! It only gets tricky when I eat veggies, etc. I pretty much think I'll stay more carnivore for a bit. So much easier!

      Back in June/July 2020, I started keeping my carb intake to no more than 100 grams, so I tracked everything. Once I got over my fear of eating fat, I reduced carbs further. Since August 2020, I went carnivore and I've not bothered tracking macros since. I still do write down what I eat every day, but this is because I'm weird and like to record things (I did this even before trying low carb/keto). However, it does let me look over what I've been eating and see if I need to adjust anything.

    Lazy keto is one of the best choices I've ever made! So far I've lost 44lbs in 11 weeks without exercising (I'm disabled so I have minimal movement in my arms and legs)! I don't count any macros or calories and try to eat as cleanly as possible! This is the first time I've ever tried a diet ("lifestyle") where I know I can absolutely eat like this for the rest of my life! I'm so happy!!!

    I knew when I started, that if I spent a lot of time tracking my macros, I was dooming myself to failure by making the whole process too complex. I keep mind a rough tally of how many carbs I've had each day. I make sure to get enough protein, and call it good. My weight loss isn't the fastest, but I've lost 25 pounds in about 7 months. I am happy to see the progress, and my health has improved dramatically, which is a better gauge of success anyway.

    • @DrAJ_LatinAmerica
      @DrAJ_LatinAmerica Před 2 lety

      Active is the key. Move after eating. You do not need to run or any cardio, just walk. Go for a 12 to 15 minute walk after each meal will do wonders. Move as much as possible. Why is it that ultra marathon runners are so thin? they move all day long. Then depending on health, if you can add in some resistance training will be even better. Eat balanced diet. Get your micronutrients is key. Everyone tries to say Protein is key, but if you are missing out on a key micronutrient such as potassium, salt, chlorine,..........the body will have major issues. The people who die from keto are those not focusing on micronutrients first and then protein and then fats, then carbs. good luck in your journey

    I have no idea how many calories I eat. I'm mainly carnivore and eat once a day. I must be doing something right because I lose weight and never get hungry! As I've mentioned in the comments before, I've also overcome many medical issues (type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, and skin condition). Every once in a while I will have avocado and perhaps some olives, but if I continue this for too long it seems to slow my progress. It won't be long and I will be looking to come up with a maintenance menu as I am nearly at my target weight of 180 pounds. (I used to weigh over a hundred pounds more than that!) Your channel is one of my favorites, and I really appreciate all the information and knowledge that you provide. just keep going until you feel the need to eat more. Your metabolic rate won't slow all that much when you've got a ton of fat to burn seeing how you're constantly fed. Eventually you'll need to exercise and eat more to lose the last bit imo. I mean you can just keep fasting but you'll end up weak as hell. It's better to do a bit of resistance training to lose the last bit imo.

    Have never tracked, always felt too much like work. It's totally unnecessary if you just avoid the right stuff.
    Point of order.. that broccoli tends to be more flavorful if you roast or stir fry it. It also makes it easier to stick some fat to it.
    Also, caveat emptor with with mayo.. even the ones labeled olive oil or avocado oil are not necessarily good. If you read the fine print it may be "WITH" those oils and still 90% soybean oil. Always read the entire label.

      YES, many many people get fat eating Keto if they are not tracking how much and what they eat. Not everyone, but many will. It is an 80/20 rule. People love to hear what they love to hear. People need to hear the truth and truth is too many calories, not enough movement, you gain fat weight. Then if you have type 2 diabetes or other metabolic issues, Bam !! you gain weight from over eating calories (on ANY eating plan or diet, the same, you can lose weight on the cupcake diet, "IF" you stay below your daily calorie needs, meaning if you stay in a deficit. Please note, you can lose weight on the cupcake diet but bad for health and wellness as are many diets that have short 3 year benefits, after which time people struggle). If the scale is going up and up each week, and you are not seeing more muscle, then you have to reduce or change the eating. Many find that adding slightly more carbs in the form of celery helps. Others find eating chicken breast with less fat than a ribeye helps. Have to try substituting foods to reach a balance. In all cases, get your blood work tested and review all present micronutrients in your blood work as well as the diet. Good luck on your journey

    Interesting thing happened last night. I had beef, lobster tail, broccoli & small potatoes. This morning my weight went down by 1.5 lbs. I had two glasses of wine. I’m sure it was like 25 grams of carbs for that meal. I’m starting to think I needed more protein.

      @@HealthCoachKait 500?? Really. Need seen a women burn 500 extra a day while on the menstrual cycle. Yes, maybe 200 but all depends on the size of the woman and amount of days of blood flow and flow levels. It is a great time to eat beef liver. Also, many women while on their menstrual cycle will report skipping the gym or hard work-outs. This in turn would reduce their caloric usage / burn rate. After reading your post, called a couple doctor friends, Gynecologist at University of Michigan who treat women everyday. They both agreed, 500 would be extreme and could lead to over eating and weight gain

    I've never even heard of tracking. Why would anyone bother? It sounds like a Weight Watchers approach to eating. What a way to kill the enjoyment of food. I cook keto because the results are delicious. I eat until I am full. So simple. And I just keep losing weight without even thinking about it.

    Forever trying to lose the last 20lbs, with the current situation that turned into 30lbs. 4 years on keto and starting to gain. Sometimes I track and sometimes I don't. But I definitely feel like it's too much fat and disorganized eating that is holding me back.

    I tried keto a few years ago and didn't find it sustainable because I felt deprived, and who in the world has the time to track everything every day? I moved to carnivore and definitely felt better once I stopped trying to count macros. However, that was too restrictive in the end. I'm getting back into keto now. After doing the 23&me genetic testing, it turns out that my body requires more protein than average and doesn't process carbs very well. Not a huge surprise, but it explains why keto left me feeling unsatisfied. Now I'm focusing on making sure I have enough protein in every meal. I'm hoping to avoid the hair loss this time, since I'll have enough protein to keep it healthy.

    I'm mildly confused. I've always been told that standard keto is high fat, moderate protein, low carb. Now I've been seeing several keto videos saying that protein should be emphasized. Also, Dr. Berry and others have said that you can't overeat on fat because of how it satiates you. You'll literally get sick if you eat too much fat. I'm so confused.
