I started making my own salads instead of using salad kits. :) I’ve lost 120 pounds since 1/13/21. I keep my calories under 1200/day and carbs under 50.

This has been such a joy! All of the foods I picked for my salad are mentioned here. I just picked them because; I relly love eating them! What about carrots; are they high carb? No salad tastes complete without baby carrots; to me anyway.

Lots of good information in this video. I'm trying to add some vegetables into what has been a largely carnivore diet. I feel the best on carnivore, but like the variety of occasionally adding veggies. Avocados are a must for me. In my previous (carb) life, ice cream used to be a favorite. I get that same sense of satiety when I eat an avocado. Go figure!

What cheeses can I have on Keto?
What do you suggest to use as a sweetner for your coffee? I know Splenda a Equal are not recommend but I am not fond of the taste of Stevia. Please help.
Have you tried monkfruit?? You can find it as a syrup or powder. That's one of the best sweetener when you're in keto.

3 months into keto? Loosing weight for sure. Taking electrolytes and collagen peptides. What other vitamins or supplements should I be taking? As I'm starting to shed hair and loose energy.

Wow we really have a lot in common fried mushrooms in butter oh man I love that but you know what's even better like you do is a juicy grass-fed steak and you take the drippings and the butter that was melted and you put it in with the steak drippings the very next day you heat it up in the frying pan you put the mushrooms in Carla bella mushrooms and when you take them out you could put them on the grill and charm a little taste just like steak martians are great

Would you say that the coconut water from a fresh coconut has less sugar and carbs than the store bought variations?? I hope so. Coconut water just is so good for you I dont think I could give it up.
No 😥 The highest I have EVER seen my blood sugar spike was drinking a fresh coconut on vacation one morning. Decided to test for fun because I was with a friend who was type 1 diabetic and was testing herself. I was shocked 😭

Where does spinach rate?
I love pickles, especially when I have any kind of burger meal. You have to be careful with commercial brand pickles, many brands' brine can contain quite a bit sugar. I make my own pickles with pickling cucumbers I get at a local farmer's market. I also make an combination of pickled vegetable relish called "Giardiniera": cauliflower, garlic, red onion, and pepperoncini peppers(1g carb per ounce). The brine contains some olive oil, and Italian herbs. It's magic.

@@qt5160 For the cukes, I get about four or five small cucumbers and slice them with a mandolin, but not to thin so they stand up to all the liquid. Make the brine in a saucepan with 2 cups of apple cider vinegar, one cup water, 1/2 cup of sweetener(your choice, I use Swerve), 1/4 cup salt, and 2 tbsp pickling spice mix. Bring the mixture to a boil then turn off the heat. Taste the brine to see if you want it sweeter or saltier. Put the sliced cukes in a mason jar(s) or sturdy plastic container with four or five whole cloves of peeled garlic. Add the hot brine to the cukes to cover them. Leave the container out until it reaches room temperature then put in the fridge. The next day your pickles are ready.
@@qt5160 The giadiniera mix is traditionally: cauliflower, carrots, bell pepper, small pepproncini peppers, garlic, and string beans. I leave out the carrots and string beans, but it's your choice. I start with giving the cauliflower a quick blanch in boiling water to take the rawness off them. Then I shock them in ice water to stop the cooking. Cut the bell pepper into small strips. In a saucepan put 1 cups of white vinegar, 1 cup water, 1 cup of red or white wine vinegar, and 2 tbsp salt. I buy the pepperoncini already pickled and I mix the brine from the jar into the saucepan as well. Heat the brine to a boil. Put the vegetable mix in a mason jar(s) and add the hot brine. Put them in the fridge after reaching room temp. Let marinate overnight. Delicious antipasto the next day.
Unfortunately I have SIBO so can’t eat cauliflower, cabbage, asparagus and many other low carb foods.
Also; I love nuts! Are nuts high in carbs?

The fruit you didn't mention: passion fruit. It's the only exotic fruit that is actually keto. A whole fruit is only 2.3 gr of net carbs.

Tomatoes get hate because they are in the nightshade family and if you have arthritis, painful to eat. I did not want to believe they were bad till I stopped eating them and can now move with less pain. You are correct in questioning what does that have to do with Keto.

Tomatoes are inflammatory fruit. Painful joints will get much better if stop or blanch skin off & decade seeds!!

Very high in oxalates which are inflammatory for a lot of people. I recommend other leafy green above spinach whenever possible.

They are higher in oxalates, yes. That might be a problem for some people but not everyone.
I thought you can’t eat fruit for like a month so that your body can enter keto? Is that true? I heard you have to eliminate all fruit?
