    I am 6 months into a healthy keto diet..I have lost 20 lbs but regularly plateau.. once this happens I increase my fasting time or only eat 1.5 meals a day. That will get things going again. I am 55 and post menopausal so I just accept that this will be a way of life going forward.

      I am same 53 post meno and cannot lose weight. I am making a conscious effort to eat before 7pm and not eat anything else till my next day meal. So coffee or green tea by 11am and then 2 eggs and dinner again at 630-7pm . I did walking for a mile and did 6 mins of sprints to get cardio up. I plan on doing weights every other day. I will increase cardio mins as I get use to doing sprints.

      And of course adding fat especially the richer fats like butter causes the body to ketose more heavily and protects organs and lubricates intestines. Ditching caffeine should help because caffeine spikes insulin so it slows ketosis. Be careful with sweeteners because some are too high in carbs to be safe for keto, there's utube videos explaining this. Erythritol, monk fruit, allulose and stevia are safe for keto dieting, pure allulose and pure stevia are the safest of these. Make sure there is no added dextrose or maltodextrin etc in your sweetener. (I read up on all this in Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution book)

    Thank you so much about making that point about too much exercise. Before I learned about keto and intermittent fasting, like most people, I subscribed to the energy balance hypothesis, that weight loss was solely a matter of calories in/calories out, and that all that you had to do was eat less and move more. Sounds simple enough. I did cardio everyday with an eye towards maximizing calories burned, and I counted calories meticulously (I’ve since then stopped counting calories and I’ve lost more weight since I stopped counting calories than I ever did before). It worked initially, but it got progressively less effective each day until I hit a plateau even though I was doing 10-12 miles per day on the elliptical machine and eating around 1500 calories a day. My body simply would not break the plateau. I started adding weight training towards the end and sustained injuries from overtraining, and still remained stuck at the plateau. Then, I couldn’t do any exercise except for walking because of my injuries from overtraining. Luckily I learned about keto and intermittent fasting around the same time, and the first week or so of switching from sugar burning to fat burning was difficult, but soon after I started to blow through that plateau even though the only exercise that I was doing was walking. So, spending more time on the treadmill to try to burn more calories is not an effective strategy for long term weight loss, even though the diet and fitness industry tells people that all the time. People have been trying that for decades and rates of obesity are only getting worse.

I'm doing carnivore but I did have a plateau and I discovered that my problem was pork and eating bacon and pork products so I wasn't doing dairy anyway and when I went back to just beef the weight eventually started to come off again and then I started adding some chicken in place of beef for one meal a day and the weight came down even further so hope it keeps going. I would like to pair down and maybe another 10 lbs. Oh and those kitty cats of yours are absolutely beautiful 😍😍

    what happens to the dietary fat that is absorbed? If there are larger quantities involved, i.e. more than what is currently required, then it must be stored somewhere. I began to suspect that dietary fat is stored directly in fat cells because there is no other option.

    I have been doing Keto for 6 weeks now. I am positive that my insulin is becoming more sensitive. I have experienced all of the signs in this video. I have lost very little weight. I use the Carb Manager app & follow the food plan suggestions closely. After setting up my profile info, I was told that it would take 15 months to loose 50 lbs. I'm ok with this, however because my weight loss seems to be soooo slow, should I continue to be discouraged or at my age, 70, or will it take longer to see weight loss because of years of yo-yo dieting?

    I am still stuck on my plateau. It's been 3 weeks since I last saw any change physicaly and on the scale. I have only 10 pounds left to reach my goal weight. I track with My Fitness Pal my calories and macros to the smallest bite of food. I exercise 1 day on 2 for 45 to 60 minutes. I make sure i'm not too stressed and that I get as much quality sleep as I can... Honestly it's kind of frustrating. I am even tracking my water intake. My Blood Ketone tests show that my ketone levels range from 1 to 2.7, so I know i'm in ketosis. I think that it's a matter of time, but it's still discouraging. Any advice ? :(

    Hi! Can anyone suggest me what to eat if I can't consume protein (meat/eggs/fish) alone or just with veggies? I can't swallow it and I almost puke. I can eat protein only in small amounts and with carbs and I'm desperate. I have PCOS and IR. I started 16/8 IM fasting with 3 meals but I just can't do keto, if I try it I end up eating mostly veggies and then I'm hungry as hell and eventually give up. Will I battle IR if I try to eat a lot more protein and fat but with "healthy" carbs like whole wheat and cut out fructose and other sugars?

      Plateaus are going to be inevitable. It's important to remember that being stricter with your diet (in this case, eating less meals) does not always guarantee better results. If you are feeling good with OMAD I would keep doing what you're doing, but mixing in a couple 2MAD days might be beneficial 🙂

      Because you are eating way too much protein. That is the truth. Also, too much protein will destroy your kidneys and the rest of you. Not getting the nutrients that our bodies are made to receive from vegetables and fruit will destroy you, and means your body can't function correctly and then results in heart failure, and all other organ/body failures, including your brain. You must give it what it needs, what it was made to live on. I have true medical studies, and body failing proof this will end up killing you. Please eat smart, it's easy, and you will slim down. It's also delicious. Ask God to give you His wisdom and guidance, He'll show you how much you need what He created for you, and how you'll truly enjoy it more, and feel and think great. God bless you abundantly!

    I struggle doing Keto/fasting more than 5 days in a row. By the weekend I feel really weak and tired and feel I have to have breakfast and a little more carbs (around 80-100g) in a day. Any suggestions? Is cyclical Keto effective? Thanks 🙏🏼

    • @HealthCoachKait
      @HealthCoachKait  Před 3 lety +4

      Keto shouldn't feel this restrictive. If you are feeling this drained by the weekend you are likely not eating enough during the week and/or fasting too much 🙏

    • @SallyHumphriesLifestyle
      @SallyHumphriesLifestyle Před 3 lety

      @@HealthCoachKait Thanks for your reply Kait! I think you’re right. This week I made sure I ate enough, (I think!) during the week. Although I did do an extended fast from Sunday to Tuesday (36 hours) and I felt fine. This weekend I made sure I rested and opted not to have the carbs as I think they make me more tired! I think my body also needed to get used to the whole Keto process as well. However, it seems the more regularly I fast, the better I feel and the more my body lines up with everything. There is something quite powerful about denying the flesh which only comes from fasting! So the discipline side is great too. Thanks for your advice! Xx

      I feel your pain! My pregnancy in 2019 hit my body hard, plus I'm in my 40's. I added intermittent fasting and it helped my plateau. You have to be a little more careful if you're breastfeeding because you have to make sure to have enough calories for a healthy milk supply, but if not, intermittent fasting will help.

      Yolanda Young It will melt off quickly, (and actually not make you big), if you make sure you’re doing healthy things like making sure most of your intake are fruit and veggies, especially if you’re juicing. That’ll keep your milk supply up for your newborn while still keeping your weight down. Don’t forget to take Irish sea Moss, it contains all the vitamins needed for both of your bodies without you trying to find it by adding tons of foods. Congratulations on your new addition 🎉 🤗

    I've only been on Keto 6 or 7 weeks and I've lost 10kg. I think I'm losing some muscle mass as well although the muscles are much more defined. I eat plenty of protein.
    Is this too fast to be losing weight? I sometimes will eat a non Keto breakfast as I feel I'm going down too fast.😄

      Jesus, you really need to stop being so hard on yourself.
      This is the real reason people fail, they're too worried about failure. Ironic, but they've shown that when children are praised for sticking to things after failing, they're far more likely to succeed.
      To paraphrase Jordan Peterson, treat yourself like a child that you care for.
      Are you a horrible, miserable, piece of shit? Or are you a person who had a moment of weakness and ate a cookie?

      Don’t let it get to you. Just learn about keto dieting slowly and adapt slowly. Even small steps can lead to a great journey. My own keto/low-carb experience has had its ups and downs. Go with your own flow and don’t measure your success against the successes of others. Your success will be unique!
