Ratty and Rowdy! Our LS Swapped '57 Chevy Gets Drop Leaf Springs for the Perfect Stance!

- This time on Sally's Speed Shop my dad and his sister replace the broken and worn out old leaf springs with new ones to get the stance just right and make the car much safer to drive! This one fought my dad a good bit, but they made it happen! Neither him nor his sister had ever done a leaf spring swap so it was a big learning experience for them!

My daughter is a PRN. Tough work. U two have great personalities. Great match up for a nurse. 😄
Hey man I’m an RN too! You just became that much cooler in my book haha
Don’t say that too loud, he’ll get a big head haha
Cheryl is a hoot. Great video. Humor is welcome.
Thank you bill! Always appreciate your support 🙌🏼
I drove my 1972 Nova SS all through the 90's , it was my daily driver, it has a 650 Holly with no choke , and never had a issue, it may not fire up as quick as an efi but when it was so cold none of the fuel injected cars would start, that and my brother's 1968 mustang would still start just had to pump the pedal a couple more times . LoL
It’s hard to beat the old stuff haha
Nice video! Your sister’s not afraid of work! She was right in the middle of it
She’s definitely a hard worker and always has been! 🙌🏼
Well, you have gone to new, lows here … and it’s a good thing!
Another Dad Episode ! Plus congrats on finding the breaker bar , Hopefully it isn't a hobo freight ! But one can't complain for free ! Oh , Your sister a Cutie !
It’s actually a Milwaukee! So not a terrible one 👍🏼
@@SallysSpeedShop better than the new Craftsman !
I’d restore that thing it’s pretty much complete. You could find probably everything you would need to do it I’d think about a fiberglass front clip . To match flip open forward be cool lol an a lot easier to work on.
Just a little tip from an old guy with broken knuckles. Don’t use a ratchet to undo tight bolts, they will slip and you can then enjoy the wonders of seized hands in your 50’s…..
Good advice. Thanks! Thanks for watching!
Dang, Your sister is getting after it, Tim!!!
She doesn’t mess around haha
That's awesome how much of the work that Cheryl did 👍 you rock Cheryl loved seeing that she wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty 😉
Aunt Cheryl is the best! She grew up around 4 boys so she can definitely hold her own!

🎶🎼chains chains shackles and chains!!! 🎶🎼 performed by Patty Lovelace!😂😂😂
Don't forget the proper use of a "cheater"bar it's all about leverage . LoL
Man your sister is something else she jumps right in and starts working her husband is a lucky guy she's not going to just stand therewith you struggle if you have a extra sister like her send her my way. Rick 427
She's not married.
Thanks for watching!
That leaf is buried in the perch. That's the noise. Cool ride!
I’m not sure what you mean by that
@Sally's Speed Shop Looks like the spring is too long, and when you put it on the ground, it has the shackle jammed against the shackle braket and it is banging when you go over bumps.
There was only a quick shot on camera when I could see it.
G’day guys, a great video, I love how the whole family gets involved. I can’t wait to see what your next job on the 57 will be 👍🇦🇺
Maybe installing the driver's window. Thanks for watching!
My rule of thumb at least when I'm underneath the car - liberal use of grease is mostly a good thing. 😉I like the way the get lower and go faster/run better things are a priority too. The suitcase fix on the seat is just fine. LOL
Haha grease all the things, except things you don’t want coming apart 😅
And yes sir! The suitcase works fine for now. #SafetyThird
Great video! Thanks for all the great content!
Thanks for watching Trent!
Cool 57. Love those cars. 👍
They’re very cool indeed!
Good job guys the car is looking good.
Thank you Richard!
No you guys are doing just fine just keep on keeping on love the Chanel
Thank you Tommy! Doing our best!
57 iconic chevy the best in my book , and the 55;Nomad
They’re some great cars for sure!
Another great video guys 👍👍
Thank you Shane!
That is a really nice road runner and I see you also have a 69 camaro man that's nice.
We’ve got some great projects in the shop right now!
Fellow RN!!
Did you guys put the robbers whether you both go there's a rubber that goes in between there on by the way your sister did a great job
Yes yes yes mom jokes too.
Haha so lame, but also so funny!
38:30 Jesus take the wheel.
We might need His help with some of these cars haha
Moby, the shop inspector.
Always! 🐶 haha
Nice job man I hope you and your dad get ac in the 57 and the service truck before power tour
Haha that’ll be his job for the ‘57. The service truck will be my responsibility
@@SallysSpeedShop yeah well your dads the one that ones the 57 chevy
another good job well done,, just little concern about the Quality on the parts,, (broken bolt)
It'll be fine. 😂
How about the Javelin? When will it be running again? I want to see more from you guys!
Just a big FYI.... second gen Camaro rearend bolt right into tri five Chevys. So if you wanted to upgrade to a 8.5 10 bolt. It's a complete bolt in.
Good to know! We may have to look into that one!
Well, if you do, it will be time to put rear disc brakes on :-). Then new floor pan. You may have done all this already as I have not seen the video 's after this one as of yet. There a fun car to drive, mine is a 57 Sport Coupe, well the body is ;-) .
deja vu
The longer the breaker bar the less force is applied
Yes sir! Science! 🤓
This is a perfect example of why 15 minute jobs take all day
Haha you’re very accurate about that!
You overcame obstacles that shouldn't have been there , when you buy parts, they should fit,not make them fit unless you are grafting part's from a different car awesome job
Agreed. Quality parts can be hard to come by nowadays unfortunately
limited slip rear end the tag means
Love the fun but get some darn safety glasses so all that rust don’t get your eyeballs
I mean terminator x? And what did it cost?
Around $1500.
Is the car still driving on the excavator unit?
Terminator... not excavator. 😂
What transmission u guys running and is the rear end stock
4L60 and stock rearend. Thanks for watching!
@@timdavis_365 any transmission tunnel cutting
@@9thgatedim273 none that we’ve seen, but we didn’t do the swap, we just finished it up.
Looks like the springs are a little to long an they’re hitting on the frame .
🤜💥🖐️🤘
ft benning coweta co you live close i live in waverly hall
When u changed the Lee springs you pressed the thing out of it and put it back in on the other end the thing is you put the one for the driver's side on the passenger side. Now the other one that's left is for the passenger side now your gonna have to press the lil thing back out and put it back in on the other end just because they look alike don't mean that they are
They're good. 👍
Suspension nuts and bolts should be finally torqued when car is on it's wheels, not while it's on a lift, axles hanging.
Yes sir! That is the truth, my dad did this one mostly solo and while there are some things that need changed. Doing it yourself is the best way to learn
Where’s your air impacts…..?
Good idea. They were in the toolbox. 😅
torch the rubber bushings out
They came out with not a ton of effort luckily
It should ride better with new springs..Is you sister single??
No blaster spray in the shop………Should have sprayed everything first…..!
Use fire axe
Hola...!!!
Tienen algún whatsapp para enviar unas fotos.., quiero vender una Chevrolet Cheyenne Crew Cab Dually 1989..
Bolt in parts are never truly Bolt in
Oh so true…
Can someone say penetrating oil
Loose juice! 😂
Being sense you are changing out all the fasteners why are you even wrenching them off.
Don’t you even have a Gas-ax or a saws all that’s what I’ve been using
Great suggestion. Thanks for watching.
That’s always a good idea!
Is that a 66 year olds car??🙄
Yes sir! 66 years old going on 67 👍🏼
@@SallysSpeedShop just being sarcastic 😁 great video! Family is everything!!
