I've been a Metallica fan for some time (also I'm a drummer)
Lars' earlier stuff, up to and including...maybe the black album, was fricking great.
After that he has sadly become a little bit of a drummers laughing stock.
Partly for the fantastically weird snare sounds he (and Bob Rock I suppose) chooses to use.
Also, If you look at later studio/live stuff it has become pretty abysmal compared to the glory days (Ride the Lightning/Master of puppets/...And Justice for all)

Curioso é que Lars não tem essa pegada contínua e brutal. Imagino que logo o Lars que inseriu tempos absurdos de gravações em estúdio vê uma locomotiva dessa vai ficar sem bumbo sem tons sem caixas enfim... vai perguntar se aqui no Brasil tem caras capazes de interpretar as mesmas sonoridades de bandas icônicas dos anos 70, 80 e 90 de metal. Até Davi Lombardo vai ficar boquiaberto.

Se tratando de bateras atuais, pra mim o Brasil têm dois dos melhores do mundo, o Eloy e o Aquiles são espetaculares, assim como tb mts outros como vc citou.

Desde minha adolescência, acompanhei os trabalhos da banda Metallica, muito por cada um dali presente. Lars chegou fazer eu ter problemas com amizades, por conta disso aí que vc falou.
Realmente ele foi icônico. Seu estilo e interatividade com o público fazia uma diferença, que nenhum dos mais renomados baterista fazia. Enfim.
Se formos ficar falando de Lars e Metallica vai escorrer baba pelos cantos da boca. Sempre gostei absurdamente também de John Bonham e Neil Peart.
Mas confesso que hoje me atento mais pelos caras aqui tupiniquins.
O batera da banda Claustrofobia e da Banda Dorsal Atlântica são mostros em pegada e velocidade também.
Fico muitíssimo feliz por poder olhar hoje aqui em eventos grandes aqui e gringo ficar boquiabertos.
Outrora esses só conheciam "João Gilberto, Elis Regina, Tom Jobim e Cartola." Quando chegavam
aqui pra tocar em eventos mundiais só via tocar "Dominó, Escola de Samba, Twister, Sandy e Jr e não sei por que cargas d'agua promotorias avacalhavam com as bandas daqui.
Barão vermelho, Titãs, Lobão, até as dos anos 90 esses babacas avacalhavam com Raimundos, Surto, Tijuana, Charlie Brown enfim.
E esses moleques eram lá fora "puta respeitados".

Vi muitos dos shows de alguns desses Brazucas que citei.
O Batera da banda Krisiun despertou muita curiosidade a galera mais nova.
A gente que já virou "tiozão" (risos) já viu bandas como Sarcófago, Chakal, e Attack epiléptico, já fazer tal "desconstrução" nas partituras e escritos desses autores.
Mas nisso o respeito, brota de modo como nunca era de se imaginar.
Lá na adolescência eram os caras insubstituíveis.
Agora vem até uma afirmação subjetiva.
Mas entre eles sempre teve o respeito e perpetuação de seus lugares. Imagina eu definir
quem e mais do que esse ou outro?
Mas são sem dúvidas icônicos.
Até hoje (mesmo como Cristão) tenho essas referências pra mim.

There's something just so fucking refreshing watching a drummer stay true to the soul of the song while adding in their own flavor instead of trying to play everything one handed while trying to play the snare as fast as possible to simulate toms and maybe playing one floor tom as well to simulate something or other ask while flipping a flipping a stick around. Ones an athlete (Eloy) and ones a trick shot artist.

@@douglasriibeiro25 lol. Yeah. Don't get me wrong. Technically, the guy is amazing but amazing technicality didn't necessarily make you a great drummer. It would be like trying to play Pneuma one handed while drinking a soda. Just doesn't work.
E.S. has wildly succeeded in an entertainment ecosystem that you may deplore, but it's fair to admit that he's grown a lot in terms of musicality and that there's a learning and improving strategy behind many of his gimmicks.
The point of one-handed covers, besides getting clicks, of course, is to find what else can you do with the other hand while you keep one extra-busy. The point of playing with four pedals is maybe (I'm making this up) being able to play independent stuff with both hands while focusing his whole attention elsewhere, and so on.
While this guy sells a product, he's actually concerned with being in service of the music when he does play. When he started to become an Internet sensation, he joined a (nationally) well known power metal band. People found there was a fan-filmed video of his live solo and were sorely disappointed that there was none of his flashy YT/IG stuff. It was just a standard power metal drum solo, which is what the situation called for.
Of course it's sad that Eloy (who I seem to recall is his favourite metal drummer) has 15 times less followers than him, and of course it's sad that short videos that may take 50 or 80 takes to get right is what grabs people's attention and love nowadays. But I can tell you that my ex, who loves watching videos of technical skills, HATES drumming videos with a passion and still is subscribed to his IG. This excitement about drums that he's creating will be good in the long term, many musically talented children will become drummers because of him.

@Marcelo M. éo que dizem, tem gente que fala que foi o Lombardo que gravou e etc, tudo pra desmerecer o Lars, é só ver o cara tocando no épico show de Seatle que vc tem certeza que ele é capaz de tocar isso em estúdio facilmente
@@mixirica87 Mas realmente foi gravado em pedaços, lars sempre teve dificuldade em fazer tudo perfeito em 1 take só, tomavam vários. James sempre foi o que terminava as partes dele em tempo recorde e ficavam lá esperando o lars conseguir terminar a parte dele. Mas no final valia a pena, o resultado era foda, como essa música ae. Mas como falaram aí, tem uma demo dessa música onde ele toca ela na íntegra, com uma velocidade mais baixa, claro, acredito que ele não conseguiria tocar ela na velocidade normal do album ao vivo nem naquela época, desgatava demais, então, simplesmente evitaram. Quanto ao Lombardo ter gravado qualquer parte da bateria no metallica, isso aí é tudo brisa dos retardados que não querem admitir nenhum pouco que o lars é bom em alguma coisa. O cara não é o melhor em técnica, mas na parte de feeling, pegada, composição, isso aí ninguém pode dizer que ele não manja. Mesmo tocando meio cagado hoje em dia, ele ainda tem uma pegada e um feeling que muito baterista considerado bom por ae não tem. Metallica é o Metallica hoje, um dos principais motivos é o próprio lars, n dá pra querer que o cara tivesse sido expulso ou dizer que eles seriam melhores pq talvez ninguém nem conheceria os caras se o lars não tivesse lá.
