    The balls it takes to not only cover this masterpiece in front of the band that wrote it but to actually put your own unique spin on it while still paying respect to the original score is absolutely insane. Never been a fan of LB but good God. This cover? May be one of the best of all time. Seriously. And this is from an old guy who got in fights for wearing a Metallica shirt back in '86. @lina anil zakk wylde has a great technique, he can play all these complicated guitar tricks. But does he has the soul of the big guitar players out there? Not even close. What's the point of playing notes at the speed of light or placing his finger in the hardest position if the final result doesn't make my heart beat stronger? Even a simple guitar riff like sweet child o mine intro will generate so much more inside me than any of the hard solos from Zakk. And I'm not even talking about slash solos, which have a lot more feelings and technique, I'm comparing zakk solos vs slash simple riff

      Why is everyone so ashamed to admit to say they actually enjoy Limp Bizkit? It's like some hate that they love them.. I've seen people like this for so many years. Limp Bizkit is a original and unique band to this very day. It was very brave as they were doomed to be hated by the "fine tasters" of metal and the mainstream for being different.

      LB has incredible respect towards Metallica. If you've seen the show.
      - Fred was the first one to stand up when Metallica appeared on the screen.
      - He made everyone stand up during his cover.
      - He showed the horn to Kirk and Lars at the end. To me it translates: "This is for you guys!".
      I mean how can you show higher respect than putting the highest effort with the talent they have into the performance? It was only them and Sum 41 who paid proper respect with their performances. Korn could have pushed it a tiny bit more in my opinion, as I was expecting (like most people) LB and Korn to destroy the stage. Korn did alright, but LB went above and beyond everyone's expectations. They literally made the metalheads jump with their own style!
      PS: BTW there's a reason they toured together afterwards. They just have the highest respect towards each other.

    So many people love this cover
    They've covered the song again live and someone recorded it, sounded exactly the same, they struck lightning with this cover, turning the song into a nu metal track with a breakdown and a turntable solo, only if they did a studio version as a single or even a track on their upcoming album.

      @marcthedashergd6321 Před 2 lety +2

      In my opinion, the one thing that pushed this cover to be one of the best Metallica songs is their tuning and their style. The original is already really heavy for a power ballad and by tuning down 3 semitones lower and making the song in the style of Nu Metal, they made the song extra heavy. That cover is basically what Metallica does in Garage Inc. They make any song sound like their own.

  • @TonyPerez816
    @TonyPerez816 Před 2 lety +61

    Limp Bizkit absolutely threw this down! You can see the boys up there diggin it, and even a skeptical crowd was totally won over. I watch this at least a few times a year (thanks for uploading this high quality version! Only the really grainy one was out there for awhile).
    As far as limp Bizkit, it's kinda sad how fame ruined them. I remember when they EXPLODED on to the scene. Such a killer, original sound. Nobody was doing that style. Durst had a unique and recognizable voice, they had the look, above all, the sound was unlike anything else.
    Then they got famous and whoever their manager was fucked them. They went from being this agro, raw, hard core metal/rap amalgamation, to bring all about getting famous with the MTV teeny bopper crowd. As soon as i saw the video for "Rollin", i knew it was over. Celebrities doing comedy, the band relegated to the background while durst danced around like a chimp with fucking BACK UP DANCERS dressed like him. I knew the fans who came up with them would not need into that. Then the music got progressively worse over there next couple of albums.
    In any case, the real limp Bizkit showed out for Metallica. In my opinion, the best rock/metal cover of all time.

      Sorry but the album Chocolate Starfish was and is a masterpiece up to this day. After that, yes, they lost their way. But the album is a classic in term of sound, style and groove and will never be repeated by any other band.
