Got licence 3 weeks ago July 23 After looking at many used bikes prior from 500cc-1000cc and the prices not being much different to a new one ..I decided to visit local kawasaki dealer and see the z650 black/silver and red it was the look that attracted me to it..great to ride light and a great riding height for me being 5"8 ..In 3 weeks i only have 1 minor issue and thats the fuel gauge you never get a true reading ...Having abs and traction control is a great feature had my traction set on 2 for first couple of weeks just till i got a feel for the bike ...Z650 defo made the right choice .. To many sports bikes on the road and it makes my naked stand out more ..Love the bike and feel they are underestimated
For me the Z650 is the best cost/benefit. Meets all my needs and has plenty of power. bike Very versatile. I can't extract everything from her
Interesting perspective on the two bikes. What are your thoughts on a new-ish rider "out growing" the z650 after a year or so and looking for something bigger? Or, a new-ish rider getting the z900 and using Rain Mode (60% power) for 6-8 months and then use the regular mode. Wouldn't that be better than buying two bikes within 1-2 years?
Difficult question. I wouldn’t get it as a first bike because of its weight, because is harder to handle than the 600ccs imho.
If it’s not your first and you already know the concept of counter steering I would get the 900 and be careful at the start.
I also got the 900 as my second bike and owned a FZ/MT 07 before for one year.
Test ride it and see if you can handle it with confidence. But be very careful with the throttle at higher rpm’s ;)
Have fun :D
@@My_Ride Thanks for the reply. Familiar with (and used) counter steering but have not owned a bike for a few years now. I'm leaning more toward the z900 but insurance considers it a liter bike and insurance is close to double of a 650.
@@drwhatley Just take it for a test ride before you buy it and then decide if its worth the higher insurance cost for you. :)
@@drwhatley I just upgraded from the z650 after 2 years of getting into riding again. For me I had to get the z900 right after my test ride. On my way home the z650 felt like a 125 ccm bike. The power and sound is on another level. On top of that the 4 cylinder engine feels soooo much smoother. You can glide in 6th gear while doing 50 kmh without any issues or vibrations.
Its not just about the bike`s cc, but the rider skill is often what decides how much fun you re gonna have on your ride, the better you get, the more fun you will have, many ppl often switch to bigger cc bikes cuz they say they "outgrew" they re bikes, the truth is much more simple in most cases, they dont even use 60% of the motorcyle full potencial, they stop getting better and think thats the motorcycle´s problem. Its not uncommon to see a 400cc winning a 1000cc in mountain roads, its simple, the rider on the 400cc is just way better.
I myself have a 600cc motorcycle and i do want more power, but i also realize i dont have the skills for that, nor i deserve a bigger bike if i cant master this one to 100% first, soo i see getting a 1000cc bike as a reward for mastering this one first.
And its not like i dont enjoy my 600cc, im having a blast with it, everytime i get better she suprises me with what she can do when in the right hands. Soo my advice? just chill and enjoy your rides, take your time, get better, and one day when you know you re worthy of it, get as much power you want.
- Ride safe guys
Can I get a factory quick shifter? How does the 900 handle compared to other bikes in its class?
Compared to the MT09 the Z900 feels more sure footed and stable, as it’s longer swingarm and more tucked body position lends to that feeling. In my opinion it’s a little more confidence inspiring despite being heavier. The MT09 feels more flickable and lively, but more unhinged at the same time. Best thing you can do is ride them yourself!
Have you done an in-depth review of the z650?
Unfortunately not by now I wasn’t able to get a z650 lately, but I try to get one soon .
HI, tolles Video - wo bist Du denn hier unterwegs gewesen?
Danke dir Viktor! Bei dieser Fahrt war ich gerade in in Kärnten (AT) auf der Malta Hochalmstraße. Ist sehr zu empfehlen. :)
Z650 is a great choise for everyone❤❤ its a master peace❤
What mods on Z9? None of them do 161 mph with out mods and dyno time. Even then. 161???
It actually is 153 mp/h! Looks like i made something wrong converting the speed or looked at a wrong chart, sorry for that.
I'll upload a video about my favorite mods on the Z900 in about 4-6 weeks :)
The z650 can't reach the mph speeds listed either like 118mph max
I have the z900 and at times wished it had more power. Lol. But it is pretty nimble to me and I ride a lot of back country roads with sharp curves.
Change the sprockets
@@ElCoco1984 Agreed on HP, if there are many track days.
Mine has 129 hp after ecu flashing and complete exhaust update. also 25 pounds lighter than stock.
Get the ZH2
Same honestly, it’s plenty fast don’t get me wrong but I was expecting a little more from it
What is your rear end mirror for your z650? Do you have a link? Thanks
Sure, these are the mirrors I use: amzn.to/3Wu44d8
Buying Speed Twin. Why?? Because some moron at Kawasaki's design studio made it impossible to carry a pilion in safety and comfort. The Triumph crew are not so disrespectful. Cheers.
I thought you sold the 900 as you said in the video from 6 months ago. What gives?
I actually sold it but wanted to help people with my experience with this bike. So i took footage from the summer, where I was riding it, so you can get a feel what I’m talking about.
If you have to decide between those two bikes, I would still choose the 900 :)
@@My_Ride I already have one. Commented in one of your other videos. No offense, but this bike is badass and it exudes character. Dependable, fast and looks cool.Have a new 900 RS too. Equally cool.
Mate, if your z900 does 160mph think you might need gps...
Z650 missing low-end power bad, compare to Versys 650, might not have the top end but you don't have to get the RPM up to get power
Z900 is geared the same as Versys 1000 at about half the price, since I already have the Versys no need for the Z
GSXS-750 is just as fast if not faster than Z.....the problem with the 4cy is you can't use the power on the street without going to jail.... that's why I was looking at the Z650......if I decide to get a 650 it will be Versys
Tank bags look awful. They really do.
