However, we have had some good news in the last few weeks, especially with the Czech-led initiative to buy 800k shells from outside the EU. Try to ques!!! In US it would be called in court LEADING ON so people would elect her. Then we had a crises with teachers salary,they went on strike and she promised to find 10 mil additional money for it , asking please end strike .So teachers did , only to hear , her say - sorry we did not find more then 5 mil, and from it she took taxes off. So the teachers were promised rise around 70-90 € , after the all mess ends they got like 30-40€ , if that!!! I can carry on with all this but really we all are about helping UKR tho!!! But consider this we got 100k UKR refugees here, which is 10% of our population!!! Imagine Poland 120 mil need to take inn 12 mil UKR or US 350 mil takes inn 35 mil UKR ,what this does to your economy.So do not all believe what you hear , she got only one pillar she is on ... her good press is only standing on supporting UKR most she does in Estonia has bad taste!!! WE do not even go there what her father did!!!He was even convicted in court!!! The only thing she aims for is to get out from Estonia to Brussel because her political status here is bad , to say almost over!!! She hopes on an account of UKR she gets there!! We in Europe need to think long and hard about our relationship with the USA. They have a point about Europe needing to spend what it takes to defend ourselves - but to abandon Eastern Europe in the face of naked aggression and theft of children, is not easily forgiveable. Reliance on such a dubious ally who is habitually prone to bouts of isolationalism does not seem to me to be a good long-term policy.

The usa has long supplied rebuilt and re armed Europe and instead of continuing to provide for your own defense instead they spent their money on social programs for their own citizens at the expense of the amercian taxpayer. Our military might was enough of a detterent for decades to bring the world an era of peace and stability that has never existed in history. But in the end one country who's supplying many others, protecting in multiple fronts all at once can only do so much. Why is it amercias burden to shoulder? Should you not also be good allies and carry your own weight? America has problems at home as well and we need to spend on our own house, we need massive infrastructure investments need to get a hold on our migration policies, we have a drug epidemic housing shortage...we need some better social programs for Healthcare and mental health specifically, if we don't get our own house in order we can't help anyone despite best intentions.

I looked up some numbers. Diesel, per barrel, is worth around 4 - 5 times what oil is wirth.
A ton of oil, around 7.5 barrel, gives you around 8.1 barrel petrol and 9.2 barrel diesel. So after refining it, instead of selling 7.5 barrel oil for something like 60$ per barrel, so 450$, you could sell over 17 barrel of fuel for around 280$ per barrel, so around 5.000$
That means, refining oil brings you more than 10 times the income. Ofc it costs to refine oil, but profits are huge. Russia losing the refineries is a huge thing. Not just that their tanks need fuel, refining it doesn't "just" double or triple the worth, you get 10 times the amount of money.
Attacking the refineries is a very effective strategy! Good job! 👍

If a coalition was formed. It should be positioned on the border of Belarus to free up those Ukrainian troops for a southern offensive. Ukraine has every right to house international forces within its borders if it chooses. A warning should be then given to Putin that those troops will not partake in any attacks on Russian troops with the caveat if the Russians engage those countries troops they will then partake directly in the conflict to assist Ukraine. Russia has got away for too long dictating that other countries cannot send troops to support Ukraine. I see nothing wrong with securing the border between Ukraine and Belarus. Has f**k all to do with Russia unless those troops were massed on Russia's border.

Don't forget: it's the refining capacity west of the Ural that counts. At some stage, there will be shortages. The average Russian with a car will not like this. For that to happen, probably 50 - 60% of the refining capacity west of the Ural needs to be destroyed. The army will (of course!) get priority for fuel. But the economy may suffer a lot if there's insufficient refining capacity left. At this moment, it's probably a financial loss for Russia, but watch what happens once there are real shortages!

The dilemma of oil refineries being hit is not about export income. It's to cripple transport plus if the oil refineries cannot work they can't pump oil which is a real problem because the wells will freeze up

Idk about that. The potential conflict in Asia would be completely different, mostly naval and air not artillery.
I believe if Russia is pushed back to the 1991 borders there will be less threat to Taiwan, South Korea and Japan. Particularly if the US steps up and supports Ukraine with far more military aid enough to push Russia out of all of Ukraine. China is watching what the US will or won't do, as is Iran.

Germany gives around 0.25% of the GDP per year to Ukraine. Our GDP is around 4.26 trillion, so we would have to give a bit less than 11 billion per year.
We gave nearly 18 billion in military aid, nearly 3 billion in humanitarian aid and pledged around 2 more billion. So after 2 years, we are at 22.5 billion, so 11.25 billion each year. It's around 0.27% of our GDP.
Imo it's a good directive, but not enough. I would like to see something around 10 billion per year guaranteed, for stuff we know Ukraine will need. So artillery and artillery shells, tanks and ammunition, air defense, Gepard, MANTIS, IRIS-T missiles, all of this stuff. Maintainance. So Ukraine knows, they get it, and can plan.
Additionally I would like to see more money for bigger projects. Like 1/2 - 1 billion for Taurus, equipment and training and logistics for that. Or giving a few hundred million, maybe a billion, to a coalition that allows Sweden to produce Gripen.
So I would want my government to have something like a baseline, around 0.25% of the GDP, around 10+ billion, to support Ukraine, and additionally maybe 0.1% of the GDP, around 4 billion each year, for big projects, like the introduction of a new system for the ukrainian army.
It's not just to show, we are commited to that. Not just, because we can handle it, and our support right now is close to 0.35% each year, like I want to see it. It's because it gives Ukraine the safety to make long term plans.
They would know, how much money there is, what they will get guaranteed. They would know, if they have "special" needs or wishes, there is a certain anount of money to support it. They could be far more flexible and free with planning. They could avoid ammunition shortages and crises.
Maybe some of the single weapon systems aren't "gamechangers", but being able to make long term plans in a war, is. So I would like to see something like that for, at least until 2026, because the war won't end earlier, and we can be pretty sure, Ukraine would need, what money like that would offer, and Germany csn handle this sum. We are close to it right now 🤷♂️

Ok, saying that my country (Sweden) has to increase our spending (we currently spend a bit more than 2% on defense) actually triggers me if it is in comparison with Poland.
Poland gets huge sums of money from the EU each year. That money is paid by net contribute countries like Sweden. To then point to Poland as an example is actually annoying. Yes, I think we can pay more for defence - but then EUchas to take less! Poland needs to pay for their own
