Star Citizen is an open development, crowd funded project from Cloud Imperium. Consisting of 2 games, Squadron 42 a single player, story driven campaign putting you in the middle of the Vanduul attacks as an up and coming UEE Navy pilot, and Star Citizen, a highly detailed
first person MMO set within a persistent universe where there are no limits. This includes, space, and ground aspects, massive spaceships with full interiors and interactions, a full dynamic economy which reacts to the players actions allowing for anything you can imagine.
It is all being built on the StarEngine (a modified version of Amazon's Lumberyard Engine).
Please bare in mind that this is heavily WIP and in an alpha state in which much of the foundational tech to make it a reality is still being developed. Both games do not have set release dates yet but you can play the alpha build for the PU MMO which makes consistent progress
with quarterly patch releases throughout the year.
I am an independent content creator and a fan of the game, I am not paid by Cloud Imperium however I do accept ships from them to giveaway to my community but this will by no means influence my opinion or what I say and believe about the project. - Hry
Pyro, from what I experienced yesterday, is exactly what I've been waiting on for 8.5 years.
Settlements to visit, dangerous areas you want to travel to with friends, and a game where every choice matters
I really hate losing my stuff when I die, so I'm probably never visiting Pyro. Just being killed by bugs in Stanton is punishing enough.
I will wait until Pyro drops for all. Then I will explore it somewhat, do what passes for 'legal' missions and build what rep I can to balance relationships with every faction. If that is possible. My only and main worry is the potential level of 'greifing' and/or 'hostile' player encounters. I don't mind encounters with other players, even volunteering to assist a player if needed, but I draw the line at hostility.
Ehhhh you're gonna have a hard time in pyro. Stick to one or max 2 gangs and always assume anyone is going to kill you. Don't matter if you shoot or hide but don't assume friendliness
"But I draw the line at hostility" LOL
@@eddiemarohl5789 isnt that the point?
lmao dude stay away from pyro.. you will just cry and call everything greifing 😂 pyro isnt for carebears
@@jakubekch.3621 what
point, killing everyone? I mean you certainly can nothing will stop you systematically yet, though there's a little more depth to pyro than a free for all. Say fellow gang members, prolly don't wanna murk all of them unless you want to lose rep with your primary gang. But if you forgoe that you can totally be a murder hobo
I suspect that within a month or two of Pyro coming to the live servers, pyro will become significantly more safe, because the murder hobos will realize that the people they enjoy killing are all staying in Stanton, and the only other people in Pyro are the actual pirates.
Once the NPCs are working properly, you will feel way more consequences. In stanton, local police will try to hunt you down and in pyro you will get in trouble if you kill a playets that is part of a gang. It will not be worth it to just kill other players for fun.
Hahahahaha!
doubt it, i do hope the crying care bears stay in Stanton tho.. the game is meant for pvp and pve so ill be doing both in pyro
Wrong opinion is wrong.
It would be wonder have a live Pyro at short, but it is not realistic. A lot of planets/POI are missing and not ready in the CIG pocket. I hope to be wrong.
Settlements + Pyro+ Pirates + Nukes will make this very difficult for any long term settlements in Pyro...
A pirate org that has a lot of players always online could do it since there would always be people online using and probably protecting the base with anti air weapons and ships that can also call on help from org mates. If people just want a cozy personal non org homestead they should stick to safe spaces.
Agree, PYRO is needed and will be a great addition. The ever Alert level needed maintaining constant watch is immersive, engaging, fun and is a thrill you will have a choice as a player, you chose thas your decision - Risk versus Reward. Love it need more. Bring it.
When you were hovering over the repair bay in the ground, I could image future NPC's using salvage guns converting old carcusses (blocking the repair bay) into RMC.
CR stated many many times. This will be a majority PVE universe. NPC will out number players 10-1. It wont be easy to PVP.
I think a good way for combating "mindless killing" is to simply have players temporarily locked out and seen as hostile to specific factions for "messing around on their turf". It would make sense and can be expanded into gameplay, you gain rep with one faction for messing with their rivals as an example. It would really suck if they left it as is, because I imagine gate camping is going to be quite the hobby for a lot of griefers
that is planned actually, there's a whole reputation and faction system in the works. no clue when it will go live though
I have a feeling pyro will just be a griefer's paradise. The game needs a GTA type response system.
na all the grifers will stay in stanton to seal club while the pvpers will stay in pyro
Griefers will be clean from pyro. Because top PVPers will be there, and they will make them their wife's hahaha, pyro is not for 2 types of players, weak carebears and griefers
We need insurance systems in the game to start playing a role in anti-piracy behavior. If your rep indicates that you are a criminal/bad actor, then insurance should not pay out. Will be a pretty devesating thing for pirates and add actual real consequences
That would just discourage piracy completely and make the game boring. Pirates add a very needed element of risk and hostility.
Pretty sure it would do the opposite Pirates don't usually fly their own ships they steal them same with equipment, if anything it would encourage pirates to actually be pirates rather then murder hobos.@@rogermar8646
Loving the footage! And great opinions. Thanks for keeping us up to date, I'm waiting for them to flush it a bit more before upgrading hardware and being able to play properly.
i think while they work out bugs they should probably lock down some areas with armistic. there is already a greef problem and this is with "testers" wait till it goes live. after its reasonably polished if they want it free for all so be it.
Yes, i agree that for testing and PTU that may be a reasonable solution, since you cant test for bugs if all you are doing is fighting
But once live, man, is free for all, you want armistice? Go play stanton !
My biggest problem with the lawlessness and PvP of Pyro is that there are single person missions available.
As the pirates like to say, you need to prepare and have escorts and play with people. Why the hell would you have escorts of team mates for single person missions?
Personally I think they should drive the multiplayer aspect of Pyro more. All the missions there should be centred around multiplayer aspects. You should not be trying to do missions solo in Pyro, so there should not be single player targeted missions
No, you need single-player missions to help ease people into wanting to join an org/clan/gang. People will do the solo missions and end up beingb ait for the orgs/gangs, and so they will either have to join one or hire escorts. The whole point is to create an emergent ebb/flow between players who want PvP, players who want PvE, and players who are undecided. This keeps things completely unpredictable.
Everyone’s going crazy over Pyro right now, but I’m actually looking forward to Nyx more for a couple reasons.
1. It should have pretty much everything Pyro has content-wise, but with less of an emphasis on gang warfare, more of an off-grid homesteader feel
2. People’s Alliance > XenoThreat
Nyx falls between Pyro and Stanton as far as lawfulness I expect it to be pretty dangerous still but worth the risk for traders.
I want to move back to the People's Republic of Levski
Well we dont all have ADHD, appreciate what you have and whats around the corner, NYX?
lol
Doesn't nix have like 0 habitable planets though?
The best way to stay safe in Pyro is to incorporate a higher quality of violence into your actions...
I'm typically one of the "griefer" criminals that all the care-bears seem to hate. But in Pyro, I actually plan to take on more of a security role and use the violence to protect those who can't.
Wish I had the access for Pyro looks awesome
enjoyed visiting Pyro, and I will again when I check out the resources for mining (hopefully the Lore will be retconned to also accommodate that since it is suppose to be desolate and depleted of ore now).
The length on this video is very fitting, *Pryo it* 🔥🔥
I love Pyro i had lots of fun in the time I spent in it and dispite getting kill lot it was enjoyable riding around not knowing if you get attacked by individual or a group of people that team up. i feel there improvement needed but it was fun and had no expectation of what stanton hold would be in Pyro it is a real wild wild west feel to it.
Awesome content!
Does the tech preview play/feel different from the PU ??
Wow that sounds great and like place I want to avoid cuz I'm not having a lot of fun with the idea of constant PVP around so but sounds very interesting I'm glad it's working out
Also, how will you know which space stations or rest stops belong to which faction? If you need to safely stop and refuel, rearm or repair your ship? Also which planets and settlements will be home to which faction? I am also curious which faction Ruin Station belongs to?
The Bar area in Checkmate station is So detailed! it makes like CP2077 look old. The whole Gelleria area of that station is just a masteroeice!
I really need to try this game out. I tried last year during a feee weekend but had so many technical issues on my 3080ti. It was sooooo laggy. Everything I watch in this game is exactly what I want, it just looks incredible and I have no idea how they will actually pull it off
Mad max in space? Sign me up!
Looks fantastic. Can't wait until it's implemented into the PU.
I've noticed none of the guys that do Star Citizen news have mentioned the progress tracker 11/1 update that shows Squadron42 polishing at only 14 weeks and ends mid December 2023. Not 100% guaranteed to be finished by then, but I don't see why CIG would wait almost 10 months to release it at Citizencon 2024. Wouldn't they want to get it out ASAP? Citizencon 2024 would be 12 years in development which doesn't look good. I think releasing it before invictus would be best as they could release the idris/javelin at the military expo and make it a big event, like for the first time ever Citizens can now own these legendary military ships.
great video
Love the danger, not so much the red, kinda lazy on CIG's part, But Pyro is everything i hoped and more. 2023/24 is looking bright.
Please show us all the planets and good locations one by one
I wish they could have released a lawful system alongside Pyro. I will finish exploring Pyro. After that, I shan't return. I must say the art and graphics are amazing. The CME is awe inspiring. For myself, I absolutely want nothing to do with PVP. PVE is fine. Personal take. Mileage varies.
We have had a lawful system called Stanton and it has been out for years, the pirates have their own system now and we have known for 10 years that Pyro would be like this.
We have Magnus a military system and Terra another lawful system that will cater to the PVE crowd as most systems will.
Well I think we should be fine there is Terra and many others once enough systems are out there will be a place for everyone in the verse also high sec low sec and no sec places to set up shop… this game is potentially gonna be a great space for all walks of life and speed
lol just stay in Stanton not every one is scared of pvp.. most orgs and players do both, kinda the pointof the game
Not afraid of PVP. I simply dislike it. It isn't fun for me, at all. You do you. @@davidn4451
cant wait to do some bounty hunting with my Zeus
I wonder how good the glide path is on some ships, to land when systems die in a CME. Assumig the thrusters die
Im sure a caterpillar glides like a stick.
5:17 I think that's being a bit optimistic. Plenty of people have posted on spectrum to say that they have no intention of "roleplaying" and have openly admitted to getting their kicks by mindlessly killing any other players they find. Some have even stated that they do it just because they enjoy wasting other players' time and love to make them salty. We'll see how it all balances out, but I'm pretty sure there will always be quite a bit of mindless killing.
Oh I'm sure it wont stop, but it will become a lot more tedious to continue that behavior, and with tedium usually it weeds out all but the most dedicated to being chaos actors. If you make the game far from GTA where its just spawn in, use your assets to grief, die or not, and repeat. Star Citizen will eventually get to a point where sure yeah they can do that once or twice in a row, but they are going to loose their own time and assets via death / prison / death of a space man
That just means they will turn into juicy headhunting trophies. Once we have hundreds or even thousands of players and NPCs in each system, you will have a hard time as a single griefer. Just think about the golden ticket event CIG did some weeks ago. When there is a nice reward, people will hunt you down like crazy. Popping up on the radar of a few dozen active heahhunters in your area will ruin your day.
I genuinely think the people who enjoy trolling others in games and making them miserable are the same people who do that sort of thing IRL, with the only reason they haven't shot up schools yet being they don't want to go to prison.
Before the realization that humans are just apes with guns, I used to think making games for everyone, including those who want lawless gameplay, was a good idea.
I have to disagree a little. People are often 2 faced. You've probably seen it to a lesser degree in others or yourself where someone behaves and acts one way at home and one way at work and possibly another around certain friends. The difference are likely small but still there. There are people that take advantage of online anonymity to be ass holes when they wouldn't in real life.
It's great that this exists and I also want a safer system to exist, even safer than Stanton. I expect a whole range. Can't wait to see what's next, especially now that with Squadron almost ready things will accelerate
Its great that being in different systems will change the entire way you have to play the game. It will add so much immersion to the overall game when/if it ever finishes.
For those that are angry ablut the PvP. In the long run im sure it will tame out a little bit. Plus the UEE systems may become even safer as a good percentage of pirate players will spend more time in lawless systems. Of course you'll never be 100% safe anywhere.
But when the murder hobos who just prey on PvE players who aren't good at pvp realize that they are the weak end in Pyro, they will all flood back to Stanton, lol.
it seems most people are angry with griefers killing you in lifts and habs.
@@FlesHBoX like i said you'll never truly be safe. And maybe it will be worse in the end, if they ever have thousands of people playing on the same servers with meshing. I think it'll balance out overtime. Its possible im wrong, but i cant wait to see either way.
@@deathsmessenger i havent been able to play Pyro yet. Im assuming there are no safe zones in the system?
@stephenstansell3026 there is in two of the stations you start in however a third one either as a test or bug doesn't have an armistice zone around the has so people are getting spawn killed
I don't think the armistice zones can be removed until there are multiple entraces, exits, and paths through stations. Being able to trap other players in a station by standing in front of an elevator with a gun is not going to be healthy for the game. At least having a bunch of airlocks, tubes, vents, ladders, stairs, hangers in different areas linked by different hallways would make it so you could get OFF the station in some way even if a rout or two was blocked.
CIG have a form list as long as your arm on allowing mureder hobo chaose without consequenxes and claiming a variety of excuses to justify that. From what I've seen so far the risk reward relationship is pretty much all risk. I can't see Pyuro being a fun experience for players who dont have a stack of cash to replace losses. We shall see how it evolves, nothing wrong with danger, but it needs to be worthwhile.
Solid take Mac, PVP is not griefing. They just need to make the rewards of Pyro worth the risk.
I feel a problem with MMO games with open PVP is that some of the players are hardcore PVPers that kill anything on sight for no reason at all, and if there is no consequence to discourage them from doing so, maybe they will think twice about it.
Im waiting for the new character creator to get in before i log in to spend hours playing with the character creator. Then shelf it again tell SQ42 comes out or other major changes happen to PU.
They really need to update the hoverbikes UI..
Party City habs are currently bugged. There is supposed to be an armistice zone. If you can make it to the hab elevators you will be safe. All other space stations have an AZ in the habs.
It's funny that toxic pvp'ers are trying to say that was intentional on some other posts I've seen.
Amazingly good pvp-ers shooting unarmed ppl in the face over and over again. Must be truly rewarding 😅
@@eddiemarohl5789 That's because those idiots don't bother to read the official tech-preview post which specifically says that this is a bug in the Known Issues section. Let me spell it out for them: "PU - Pyro - Locations / Armistice Zones - PYR3 L3 Patch City Station - The Hab area does not have armistice zone"
@@Stuka-RTthey failed to impress Mary.
And pretty much anyone, in real life.
Compared to that shit, killing other player must feel like beating Mount Everest.
This makes Pyro more of a tactical survival shooter.
Players who like games like Escape from Tarkov will be more inclined to go for Pyro, and Pve players for Stanton.
I think it's great that each system can have its own experience.
Time to form a pyro police defense force ;)
Yeah, Pyro is beautiful, but I'm never going back.
Letting the tester players camp and stop players from leaving tests their systems and likely adding certain things at certain stations, like not being able to enter like how the customs are supposed to work at the stanton security areas. It alsp gives prg level gameplay for those "lawful " pmc and anti pirate groups to patrol campers. Also tying station camping to rhe bounty and faction rep system with missions to encourage anticampter pvp rewards
make station camping the same as pad ramming. because it is, you have no chance to defend yourself imediately after stepping out of an elevator. 1 month ban for preventing players from testing the game, which is the point of the alpha
@@GimbleOnDewbans in ptue?
you must be really young...
Pyro 4 and 5 when?
Its still an Epic add on to an already impressive game
True
i just put a Star Citizen short film..
Patchwork ftw
Whenever the actual reputation system and vehicle insurance it’ll probably calm a lot of these people down with killing stuff since reputation will be everything in this game. Only issue would be people making dummy accounts to fuck with people and guilds but bounty hunting system and the AI controlling there territory if you act a fool in a gang’s territory terrorizing potential customers you need security, also whenever the Rep system comes out make it almost impossible for anyone who does these psycho shit to gain rep with the factions. When death really matters in this game is when people will stop being shit heads and we all know they’ll start complaining just like the PVErs lol
thing is with the way things are/will be, the best chance of survival is to shoot first and deal with the rep hit and that wont change no matter what system they are in. i have to disagree testing pyro is no different than any other system , the only difference is that people are hiding behind the "its a pvp system" when many other systems will be/are in place.
Death of a spaceman, by making loss more impactful, only rewards griefers. There is as yet nothing planned that will prevent mindless murder, permadeath only makes their grief game more rewarding for them.
❤😍💪💯👍👌☺️
maybe implement a alpha testing release approach where initial previews like Pyro every player is invulnerable... of course those restriction are removed as soon as it hits PTU
Mutual PvP is awesome, but players whose only source of ‘fun’ involves spoiling the experience of others are cancer and do not deserve to be compromised with
I'm not sure you are completely correct about the Pyro getting these systems to let folks get around. This is how Pyro is and if you want to goof around then so long as you are not breaking any faction rules then so be it. Without comm arrays we would be relying on the factions themselves and yes this is what's missing having there security forces intervene but aside from that it's a dangerous and inhospitable place, which is how is should be.
I think that Mac is 100% correct here.
the good thing is it will take the pointless killer away from Stanton 😁
In addition to just punishing people for F***ing around PvP players need recourses and such to fight over in pyro. Right now it's just mindlessly flying over all the settlements and shooting empty Cutters for no reason but if there were actual points drawing people together for PvP and providing tangible benefits it could reduce a lot of the trolling.
Getting on the wrong side of some of the gangs should also be scarier than getting on the wrong side of the law in Stanton also. While they're not going to have as large all encompassing territories as the UEE in Stanton eventually I picture some of these groups are going to try to show who runs things in their areas of the system.
You keep talking about other systems is that going to take another 5 years?
but the thing is the mindless killers are in the stanton system currently so. it will be a big thing against star citizen because if it will decends to pure pvp and the hardcore aspect will push players away because of a minority playing murder hobos
Every carebear should be forced to watch this Clockwork Orange-style
Let pvp’r have pyro…
If you cant take the heat then dont go exploring in a lawless system as it suld be. If you are afraid of getting ganged up on then you can always hire protection from other players.
suldn't you be doing homeworks?
@@rayfighter im 35 but ok. Youre answer is just to be mean and has no feedback or innput on what i just posted so that makes you seam more imature then me.This is not a single player game so i dont see the problem of people paying for protection so people who wants to play as body guards get a gameplay loop to.
Just remember folks, this will probably not be in the PTU for a year or two.
Wrong. It will probably be in the PTU by Q1. It's incredibly polished
We don’t know if it’s going to be next month, Q1 or next year, so let’s all just expect the worse, and hopefully we’ll be pleasantly surprised.
I think it’s a shame that after waiting for so long for another star system it seems restricted. We all like a challenge but Pyro just seems to be a green light for total chaos right now.
Isn't it supposed to be if you wanna be safe you stay in a HiSec system like Stanton, entering a NullSec system controlled by pirates should be, ya know, dangerous. I get it being annoying to wanna just check out the new content and getting ganked everywhere but these people trying to change PVP in star citizen need to stop crying to devs. It's all gonna work out eventually, chill.
Pvp is disgusting in any way!
No it's not lol relax bub.
Get a grip dude! It's not disgusting and it was always planned to be part of the game. It adds a lot of excitement even for those who wish to avoid it. Camping elevators, habs and spawn points is pretty close to griefing though and I do share your distaste for mindless ganking of everyone and everything. Hopefully things will work out for the best in the long term with reputation and other in-game mechanics.
Then you made a bad decision in backing this game, CR himself stated he loves piracy gameplay when asked what he will be doing in game hence the nickname "Dread Pirate Roberts".
Worst troll attempt ever.
How is that: Shooting a downed player. Destroying every ship landed on an outpost. Killing someone sitting still in a ship in an asteroid field while being offscreen for a minute. Some few players are so toxic so that all honest pvp and pirate gameplay just fades away in my eyes...
So new DLC with changed graphics to make it look dirtier and a pirate and greifers playground. Ok.
and you have to have an invite, can't move between the two systems even with a cut scene.
mmmhhh.
