A few months back now we reviewed Qubic System's QS-220 Motion System and were impressed. So when they asked if we'd like to check out their 4DOF QS-V20, we couldn't pass it up!
I know a rig like this is out of the question for most people, but many would wonder what a rig like this is actually like to put together and drive with. So that's exactly what we're going to be sharing with you through this video series, starting today with getting the rig up and running!

Imagine the delivery driver asking if you have a forklift, and you are like nah mate but i can drive one in the simulator
ahah
😂
😂
Absolutely PRICELESS...!
If you buy it, forklift is the least problem i thinks
Wow, the way it jolted to the side @15:10. They say that fear of crashing/death is one of the senses that sim-racing is missing, I dont think that would be a problem with this setup...
We have 30 of them in our sim centers. When it is full blast, you definitely get scared as you head towards a wall. It has knocked the wind out of me.
To be honest, There's a bit of input lag IRL drifting/autocross due to the suspension and rotating components, steering shaft, and of course the tires. So it's probably quite realistic!
This things looks rad.
While I don't have 17k for a rig, it seems really fair price for what you get with it! That is indeed insane rig...
thats not in AUD...
if u think it will last forever you are so wrong..
@@kayumust The only thing that lasts forever is death!
@kayumust nothing with moving parts that create friction will last forever without some form of maintenance. Hopefully Will can specify if the company offers spare parts and states what maintenance is needed especially at that price point.
@@zorbakaput8537😂
The thing that is the most annoying that people don't realize (I used to work for a large company that gave items if high value to CZcamsrs and other 'influences'), is that the company needs to recoup that loss, it's not a write-off and it many cases it's not a 'advertising campaign' as people might think. No, instead the ordinary consumer foots the bill as the company has to then jack the price up of that item when it's new to cover to loss. So something like this which is not only expensive on it's own but shipping it from somewhere in Europe to Oz would be even more money, money that they then add on to people that actually have to buy it! The company I worked for was one of the first sim racing DD manufactures, when we had a new SKU we would calculate how many to send out as free samples for the the person to keep and review and then we would also send a batch that would be sent for review and passed around to lesser 'influences' with smaller audiences. Then that cost of shipping and the items themselves were divided and spread over predictive sales for for either the first year or if it was something that we thought would sell well or was really expensive for us to make, 4-6 months. This wold jack up the price in some cases by nearly 30%!
So when I see videos like this and the 'influencer' is also skippy I just feel sorry for the poor people that have to cover the cost!
Imagine the total money a normal person purchasing something like this. Would it be cheaper to just build/buy the real race car and actually experience real life? 😂
I understand that with the rig you don't have to leave your basement and race in your underwear while drinking beer lol.
That first fire-up was nuts 😮
By the way, we didn't have a D-Box exclusive.
D-Box support came first because that's what we use during development to record the co-drivers.
UDP came in one of the early patches after launch which is why the QS-V20 works.
@EASPORTSWRC Can we get a commercial license pretty please?! It's so much fun with the QS-V20... we'd love to offer it to our customers.
Can't wait for Part 2 of this video! Hoping to get comparison against dbox setup. Thanks for doing this review!!
Awesome rig and a great video! Thank you for sharing your progress.
Will, best wishes for 2024!! And thanks for all the great videos of 2023 and keep up the good work in 2024. Man man, what an Insane rig that is indeed! Looking forward to part 2
We have been waiting weeks for part 2!
So have we. Waiting for some replacement parts as the mounting plates we received aren’t compatible with most pedals and bases.
That is brutal man😃
Happy new year and best wishes for you and family buddy 🥳
Can’t wait to see you in action with this beast 😁
That thing looks sweet! Can’t wait for part two.
Wow, even if I had the money to get one of these rigs, it is way out of my league to even put it together like you showed.
Thanks for the video, enjoy racing, and take care.
This is so cool. I really wish you had a chance to review the QS-CH2 along with the QS-220. I'm really interested on how it compares to this cockpit system. It's about the same price but if you have thousands invested in a extruded rig it seems like that combination might be the better choice. I look forward to your review and comparisons to the QS-220. A motion rig is my next big investment and Qubic seems like a quality option if you don't want a DBox system .
Its imitation of the car sliding and the rolling of the car impressive
Happy new year mate
Big box to post it😂😂😂
Appreciate the first part of the review, and all the hard work that goes into your videos. Are you still planning on reviewing the Track Racer TRX?
That's crazy. I love it.
waiting for Part 2 🙂 nice Rig ❤
This looks insane! It is expensive, but you will never get closer to racing than this. It looks like the top range at the moment. Racing in real life would be much more expensive and risky :)
Thank you for this content; it's incredible work.
A vehicle’s movement isn’t exactly simultaneous with an input, so I’m not sure that is actually lag. On the Initial start it seemed to react appropriately.
This looks like a blast! Would love to try something like this.
That's some excellent looking high tier kit, I can't wait to see this in action.
no
@@SauceMeUpFendiyes
This is insane, even aside from the price just getting this thing up my stairs would be absolutely impossible. Makes classic rigs easy and portable!
Awesome rig! I hope that when you do set up VR with this, that you also setup and utilize motion compensation via OVRMC or OXRMC. There's some good documentation out there on setting this up, and will be necessary for when doing VR in a rig like this.
I would pay to sit in that rig without wheel and enjoy rollercoaster! Adding simsetup will be wild! Can’t wait part 2. Thanks for sharing!
Rollercoster vr in the rig set up that be unreal
Hope you and family had a great Xmas and new years Will. Best wishes for 2024.
What a teaser. Lol that is going to be so fun.
Imagine putting a seat in it then getting the missus to sit in it while you do the driving in the main rig. That's a video I'd love to see.
Something along these lines is exactly what I've wanted for ages!...but holy crap they're pricey! Rightly so, of course, but damn! I imagine that's gotta be around 100+ kilos! So cool that you got one to play with! Fantastic!
and that huge allen key is comical!
The most important thing for me in motion is actually the latency. I dont remember who it was, but someone once said after testing multiple motion sims: " the more is going on, the higher the latency". I am really picky about that, so those "below 8 ms" was quite high for me on the last review. While you said, that you dont notice any latency, you also dont have the motion set too high because of the "car driving you" argument, which I personally think changes if you use a seatbelt. I dont know whether you tested other motion with seatbelt or not, but it didnt seem like it in the videos. A comparison in latency here to the D-Box would be interesting, since they dont mention their latency anywhere.
I run a 4point harness on my stationary rig. Cheap immersion. Everyone laughs at me but I’ve never been in a real car going fast without restraints
Qubic's strong point is latency. If you're lucky enough to have your game running at a sustained 100 hz / fps, that's 10ms, and at 144 hz / fps should bring you just under 7ms. Gaming Motion system telemetry is also caped by the game's engine so dependent on your actual fps output.I'm guessing pro / industrial application don't have to limit their data output based on a render engine and use a separate simulation path resolution to the motion rig.
Qubic runs circles around Dbox. We have 30 qubics, and 10 Sigma DK6s (with more on order). Both them outperform DBox in range, latency, etc. Dbox is a bit of a joke compared to these guys really.
My simrig is on qubic too 😊
Your reviews are always amazing. Cannot believe the sim racing technology available today. Looks well built and heavy. My guess, 150 kilos.
That looks sick!!❤
That thing is wild!!
Looking at the Clubsport plus in the vid makes me cry😢 waiting for mine!😂
Cant wait to see it rigged up properly!
would love to try a motion system sometime lol it looks soo damn fun
It looks completely insane indeed! Congrats on getting it shipped to you for review. Any idea why it’s so high off the ground?
Looks so cool Will, looking forward to seeing how it runs with Big D Will in it.
very cool. nicely designed.
on my 6dof (stewart platform style) which was much, much cheaper I ended up turning everything down by half except heave and surge.
How much did your motion sim cost?
@@luukvanoijen7082 3800 usd at the time, but they're in the high 5's now.
looks like a combination of inflation and minor improvements.
I would be just as excited to learn about this sim rig as I would be to learn what blue beast is parked next to you. Did you pick up a Lotus?
4:38 Yep That was DRY when they first put it in that box. A Very worthy investment.
Would love to have the space(and cash!!) to own one of these bad boys😍
Thats wild!
That's cool! I want!
Will that looks insanely good, bet it adds loads of immersion to racing👍👍
Will you are about the only person I've seen that has used the Fanatec clubsport DD+, how does it compare to the Asetek Forte? I'm seriously fed up with waiting for the DD+ with no delivery in site still. So thinking of jumping to the Forte bundle instead. You are the only person I've seen that's used both! I'm all👂👂👂👂
Hey Will, think you've got the serial number wrong for this.
It's actually the ED-209 😆
"You have 30 seconds to start sim racing"
Exactly what came to mind when it started.
Awesome rig!!! I know no one, not even another YT'er who has better sim rigs than this guy, I've seen them, in pictures, and a rare YT show off maybe, just never seen anyone use them for real
i was literally on their website now, and one of the videos on their page lead me here! Cant wait for part 2! thank you for showing us this piece of engineering!
Experienced this at their factory in Poland in early stage about two years ago. Honestly its more "funfair" than simulator. But what a nice piece of machinery :)
Depends how you set it up. We have several pro drivers come train at our facilities and they all love how realistic it feels. It has a ton of configuration options, and it is important to get it out of "tradeshow" mode. Also, it is important to reduce/disable the visual head movement effects etc in the game. It does take some time to get it all dialed in but when it does, it feels incredibly realistic.
@@donovanjanus7252 absolutely. We have in firm their classic 3Dof QS220 system and its awesome. It just take some time, to set it right. Love to drive in VR on that beast 🙂
There's no doubt this thing is cool and maybe I'm just not perceiving it through video well but it looks like it's moving pretty slowly. Be interesting to see if you can get it dialed in to be more direct.
Hey Will, I would love to own one of these rigs, unfortunately dont have that kind of spare cash ( even if I sold my real car lol ) and/or the room in my house sadly. Looks amazing !!
Well since I always drive off the cliff I'm waiting for a rig with full 360 degree motion so I can roll downhill. Seriously that thing looks awesome.
Beyond totally cool n awesome 😊
Will, normally the actuators come preinstalled. It literally takes us 10 minutes to get one up and running (provided the PC/Monitors are set up of course). Add wheel, pedals, plug in the cables and we're up :)
And yes, same with the wheels - just screw them in, it lifts it, roll it in place, remove the bolts and voila. It's all very well designed :)
The studio is looking really nice mate , congrats !!! … also can every 1 in the comments spam this video to Dr Disrespect ? lol
Amazing.
What might be a funny video is having someone in the motion rig(with all the proper safety equipment) while someone else is driving kind of like a rally co-pilot, and then maybe try a challenge to see if or how fast the driver can make the "passenger" hit the stop 😂
This looks incredible for drifting
That's what I am talking about I want some motion for drifting that gives me that traction loss so I can feel the drift
Jesus it’s a work of art😳
super cool would be an ultimate thing i would get i think the box is 125 with the parts inside weighing 110 kg
G'day Will, happy New year to you, the fam and the boosted media team. Hope you got some down time over the Xmas break. I had a quick question relating to the purchase of the Qubic System QS-220-PL Sim Racing Motion System 3 DOF extended set. I had a look at some of the affiliate links within your review approx 7 months ago and only one link seemed to work?? Just wondering if you had any updated info to purchase these systems through links associated with boosted media? Cheers, Paul
You know what? Honestly THIS thing seems to be worth a five figure price tag... whereas with systems, that are "just" actuator addons for a standard aluminium profile rig, it always feels like to me "yeahhh... seems nice... but 9000 Euros just for a bit up and down and some rattling? Na...... I'll stick to my buttkickers..."
Holy moly, looking forward to Part 2!
I’ve started my sim racing journey about a month ago and this seems so far out of my range, but I love technology and this blew my mind. With my humble NLR GT lite foldable chair and my G923 wheel it’s no wonder I’m struggling to break the 1:50 mark in ACC. I’ll literally walking around my house looking for stuff to sell so I can at least upgrade my wheel and pedal 😂😂😂😂😂
Honestly logitech is a good brand to enter the hobby
Nah, it's not about gear. You'd get more feedback with spending a bit more, but you definitely can improve even on the Logitech. Don't get trapped in Gear Acq mode. Do it for fun, not for lap time.
And have fun!
I would just liked to have a little more feedback, not looking for 20nm, just around 8 would be perfect.
@@faultycpu while you are correct about the 8nm vs 20nm, meaning bigger is not necessarily a must but. It's important to highlight that even with limited strength, it's the DD experience that translate to more details. Even in 5 to 10 years, if you are still in the hobby, you might still not need (but mostly definitely will want 😜) above 20nm.
You'd gain by having better pedals though. 😉 And thus, a better "rig" or at least setup, than GT lite.
@@mickaelsflow6774 Honestly, 12-ish is plenty enough, has good resolution. Actual GT cars need 10 to 12 nm max, it's only going to get you a few more details at the same effective output force.
Unless you wanna workout, pushing your base above 12nm is highly unconvenient and unrealistic.
At least they include the ladder 😂
Any plans to review the PT Actuators Champion GT motion set? Price-wise it fills the gap between the e-Racing Lab RS Mega and the Sigma Intergrale DK2, and on par with the Simrig SR2. Cheers.
0:49 That isn' so bad given some of rigs used to cost more like $30K-$100k USD just a few years ago.
For a commercial setup yeah I guess it's a lot more affordable than they used to be.
@@boostedmediaThat's why we went with it for our commercial use. Really the best value on the market, and much better than a lot of the "seat mover" rigs that are out there. And it just looks so cool!
As someone who suffers from vertigo, I would be scared to try vr with this motion rig....
But imagine what it would be like with a 180 degree oval wall and three 4k screen projectors calibrated together...
It has VR compensation. And you can turn off the sliding, lower crash intensity, etc.
I don't mind admitting this, as a sim racer I am fucking SICK with jealousy that you have this amazing and very expensive motion rig.
Amazing
yes eagerly waiting for part 2, you must be having too much fun ?
Ran into issues mounting hardware and waiting for them to send replacement updated parts, so it’ll be a while before part 2 happens.
was it with mounting the Active Pedals or the Wheelbase ? I have those and the DD2, anything I need to be aware of ?@@boostedmedia
CONE OF SHAME DOGGO
Nice.. looks the business.
nice man
If you think that thing is violent, that thing is smooth as hell, my cousin has a pneumatic rig that slides back-and-forth and shakes in the back, and that thing is fucking violent
This both excites and scares the sh*t out of me..
that's a little big for most peoples houses but cool. I hand it to you and your brother👍 alot of work getting it in your garage and building it. do you have to box it up and send it back to them after setting it up or do they pay for the Chiropractor..LOL ?
So good i had to watch it twice. nice rig
True bolt it to the concrete floor when you level it
Kinda want to try it
This thing is wild! I wonder how violent it moves during crashes/roll over
It actually flips you over and you need the hospital
Still waiting for this part 2
love it
I'm curious to see what it does in iracing in the dirt latemodel
I think we all deserve one of those.
WOW !
when is part 2 coming?
Will and Jill. Coincidentally the names of both of my cats😂
Any news on an ETA for part 2?
Are we not getting part 2? Been waiting...
Hey.. do you also do video on coffees?
Would love to try it with msflightsim in vr.
Could you review a Zen’s Simwheels wheel?
Looks slik, very nice design.. but does this have also a linear motion for surge?
Have you considered what its energy consumption is? What electrical power do you need to support the entire system?
love the low noise level....expected lot more noise fron the rig
It's really quiet - when you add the seat etc. to it, there will be a little bit more noise, especially when you are crashing. But proper driving, it hardly makes any noise.
Never ever gonna be able to afford that, anyways it's cool to see it
Such thing you have to use with VR
I think the proper guess for the weight is a sh*t ton.
