Going on a writing retreat is one of the best things ever. Dedicated time to nothing but WRITING?! Yes, please! In today's vlog, I went on a writing retrat to a hotel and had a little stay-cation! Great video! The only type of writing retreat I've attended was an all day writing session at a friend's house. It was lots of fun! We recently moved to a little town in WA where we live across from the lake. One of the residents, who is also an author, bought the elementary school a few years back when it closed down. (The building is really old). She fixed it up and set up retreat rooms in every classroom. It's really cool! So I have my choice of either a cabin on the lake or an old elementary school classroom. :)
OOOOOOH... Buying a school and fixing it up is AWESOME! :O
I feel like I say this every writing retreat video I watch but... I really want to go on one! Thanks for taking us along 🙂

I love stay-cations! I typically do them for new year or my birthday but hotels have gotten expensive so I haven’t gone in a couple of years
I live in Michigan too! I'm heading to a place near Baldwin this Friday for a long weekend solo writing retreat. It's my first of many, I'm sure. 🙂

Never done a writing retreat per se, but I did get a lot of writing done in October when I went on holiday!

I agree with what you said about the word count.
I just cut almost 6k words from my book because the story wasn't flowing easily. And because of that, I didn't want to write anything.
But now that I've cut the words I can see how to get from where I am to the next act in the book and then the plan.
The sprite cans in the luggage🤣. That's Sarah for you! But I really loved this vlog, it felt like I went on the retreat with you.

I love writing retreats. The first one I ever went on I wrote 20k and ended up finishing my Nano project that year. These days I'm into Staycations. If my S.O has a long trip he's taking I'll premake food and give myself that time to focus on my work. I can normally edit a whole novel in a week if he's not here. He's going on a big trip in march (closures permitting) and I plan on doing a big writing week while he's away.
Hocking Hills near Cincinnati is great for a weekend getaway in a cabin!
