- Join me for a chatty flip through my holiday journal. If you think this one is wordy, you should have seen how long the unedited version was!
Is it interesting to hear about my holiday or are you screaming at your screen "shut up Lora, we just want to see the sketches!" ?
Lora, this is absolutely lovely. I personally think it is fine to do a combination of journaling from photos and in person (plein air), whatever ratio that consists of. Because, for one, it's your journal and you can do whatever your heart desires and two, any art journaling you do will instantly take you back to the time you were there when you look back through the journal. 😊💕

Lovely journal of your trip! Enjoyed hearing about your vacation. I’ll await the dictionary update for 2023 (or 2024?) to include “sticky-out-bit” 😂. Loved your before and after selfies… they reminded me of the memes where parents post photos of their kids first day of school… at the start of the day and at the end of the day.
Hahahaha, Even now the camera is not filming me, I still can't think what I should have called the sticky out bit! That made me laugh about the parents photos! I didn't even have the energy for a fake smile! Haha! I just hope nobody watches this video who has done the same walk because I'm sure it's not that hard for most people hahaha
Your travel journal is lovely. I giggled so much with you about the sticky-out-bits and that stone wall with steps 😮 I can only imagine how I would look climbing over it 😂

I fall into a similar pattern.. I always plan on sketching on site but always seem to find a reason not to.
So, how does English Cornwall compare with Canadian Cornwall? Haha. I try not to beat myself up too much if I don’t sketch on location. To me, it has to feel right otherwise I probably wont like the end result anyway. But my mindset at the start of the day often plays a big part in whether I do it or not.
You ladies are brave traveling alone in this crime ridden day in age. I don't like my girls going anywhere without me.
It can be a bit unnerving at times, but I try and be careful about where I go and definitely not going on my own in the dark! On this holiday the most scary bit was walking down to the beach…. Not because I was worried about other people but because it was steep and slippery in places and I didn’t want to fall while on my own!
I love the way you journal! I got inspired to try harder next time we go on a journey :)
Aww thank you! For me, I try to be flexible and not expect too much of myself. So far, with both holidays that I've journalled, I've been on my own, so it will be interesting to see how different it might be if I take my parents next year.
