Trick factory Suzuki Mechanic taught me: When reinstalling forks ( with threaded axle ) Install non threaded fork first and set where desired. Tighten but not torqued. Then take other leg and install into clamps. Don't tighten but snug where fork leg can still be moved and twisted but is not falling out of clamps under its own weight. Rubber mallet can be used to smack bottom of fork leg or top to move up and down for micro adjustment. Be more careful on top to impact the edges and not the adjuster screw. Now take axle. (NO WHEEL) just axle, and install into fork legs. Threaded part should seat without any binding. Move threaded leg up or down as desired so threads do not bind at all. If correct, axle should be able to be spun back and forth into threaded leg with just finger and thumb with no binding. Super smooth rotation is your goal. Once achieved your legs are even. Torque clamps and check legs/axle again. If results are the same, forks are set. Another tip while doing this.. Take rubber mallet and smack triple clamps all around where they clamp forks when forks are set into them before Torque. This vibrates legs to seat in clamps with best calibration. Check axle one more time before installing the wheel. Recommend taking the time to remove front fairings when doing this job. It's more of a pain but access to bolts and using the mallett are so much easier. :)
Thanks, Miles!! Finally a solid no nonsense video on inverted fork seal replacement that’s direct and easy to follow.
Super clear and well produced video. I’ll be changing my seals and oil on my 2005 sv650 with 06 gsxr600 forks and this is exactly the info I need to do the job, thanks!
Great video. I just replaced the seals and oil on the Sachs forks on my Aprilia Tuono, which is a bit different than your GSXR setup but with enough overlap to make sense. Thanks.
Got mine done with guidance from this video. Super helpful, thank you!
Great vid, you sir are a natural born instructor.
Excellent instructions! Thanks!
I have an SV with the GSXR fork like that; this is exactly what I was looking for, thank you! On a side note, your voice is extremely calming in this video (in a good way)!
What a hell of a video. Thank you so much!
Great video jus helped change my seal
Great explanation. Super helpful.
Super helpful, thanks!
thank you for the detailed explanation great video
Also ppl you do not need that axel tool just keep your pinch bolts tight then loosen the nut side take it off then loosen the pinch bolts and tap the axel out which comes out pretty easy.
Fantastic video!! 🎉
Grear video on textbook approach to fork servicing. Many at home mechsnics may have to do without some of the tools.
Thank you sir
Is it possible for forks to leak from the bottom, I mean the chrome tube that meets the mounting bracket for the caliper and axle? I had no fluid in my forks. Great video - thanks!
Is this the same for a 2008 cbr fireblade? Thanks
best ive seen yet. Did you leave te dampener bolt in for this and leave dampener in place? does make sense
