Michael Owen won the ballon d’or, Mcmanaman won motm in CL final, Ian Wright is one of the most legendary and prolific English goal scorers ever, and my man Robbie savage called himself world class in front of them ahahahaha
By his logic of world class it’s like anyone who had a one off game where they kept Kevin De Bruyne quiet. Has happened, but doesn’t automatically make the player who’s done that world class. They just had a one off.
What Robbie Savage should have said: “How do we classify someone as world class? I bossed top quality players non-regularly, but you wouldn’t label me world class, would you?”

The phrase world class performance is deceiving. Savage is completely right here. Nearly every player in the top leagues has had one or two World class performances, but that doesn't make you a world class player. Literally his whole point is he's not world class.
I kind of agree with what he's saying. He's saying he wasn't a 'world class' player as he lacked the ability to consistently produce world class performances at the highest level. BUT he is saying that there were days where he could produce a 'world class' level performance against a high level opponent where he might have looked like one of the best DMFs in the world. Which is sort of true for most players as anyone can have a day or two where they're completely unplayable. But you have to do it consistently to be considered a 'world class' player over the length of your career.
He's got a point. He's not saying he was world class he's saying that at times he was playing at a world class level. However almost every footballer at one point has played at a world class level even if it was for just 30 seconds.
Average players can sometimes put in a World Class performance and World Class players can sometimes put in an average performance. So I sort of get what he's saying.

I'm not nessacarily saying I agree with what savage is saying but I see what he's trying to say.
Three pundits who were attacking players WOULD come out with a response like that, but I think Robbie Savage has a point. He played 39 times for his country. In some circles, by definition, that makes him a world class player. He was trying to make the point that playing at elite level CONSISTENTLY, is what makes a player world class in most peoples estimation. Regardless of his playing ability, judging by the amount of comments here, he’s definitely a world class figure for debate!😂
A Wales side consisting of Giggs, Speed and Bellamy that didn't qualify for a major tournament. I think the likes of superstar, world class and greats are too easily used for players that were good and played at a consistent level. Nothing else.
He's right, he had world class performances. They were rare, but they happened. And the other guys are pretty much saying that defenders can't be considered world class
Michael Owen was world class for a few seasons. Mcmanaman was close to being there at times. Wright was a world class signing but I only remember him being a top poacher, never a top bracket player.
Weren't Ian Wright's goals purely tap ins? I remember Henry appeared to play with the deficit of only scoring wonder goals. Wright's main deficit was playing non-league until about 26 - which is not a real deficit.

We were already 2-1 up when their keeper took a goal kick. I was stood on the halfway line, took it down, and sent it straight back to him. Looped over his head and just in under the crossbar. Only goal I scored that year, but you know something? I was world class that day, better than Messi in his prime.
the reaction when he first comes out with this utter bullshit is hilarious its like no one can quite believe what they heard which probably says it all
Yes, everyone ageed with him. He said that what makes a world class player is not single great performances, but in consistency, and everyone agreed. Savage used himself as an example: If you would not need consistency, he would have been world class, because of single performances. But everyone agrees he never was. So, Savage makes 2 points, and they all agree with both of them. What do they disagree with?
You need to watch it properly and look at the part where he first said he was world class..there were howls of laughter from everyone except the deluded savage, then he goes..hang on and tries to explain his ridiculous claim. So if you think that laughing at him was agreeing with him...
They were laughing because they didn't understand what he was trying to say. He makes a silly claim as part of his argument. His argument is basically: "If consistency is not a part of the term "world class",I would be world class." Everyone agrees that Savage never was, even though he had games where it would be hard to justify swapping him out for any other defensive player. He makes the argument in the other order, thus putting the silly claim first, at which the others laugh instead of letting him finish. So, the clip shows people laughing at a man making a valid point, to which they all agree. It is not Savage who gets destroyed. We are witnessing a self-destruct sequence by the rest.
Look, he states twice, " I was world class " and he obviously never was. He maybe had 1 or 2 good games against true world class players so then he thought that made him world class, it didn't.
It's so funny the way you hear the silence hanging in the air, an then the camera changes angles and you realise he's talking to Owen, McManaman, and Wright 🤣

He was trying to make the point that playing at elite level CONSISTENTLY, is what makes a player world class in most peoples estimation. Regardless of his playing ability, judging by the amount of comments here, he’s definitely a world class figure for debate!😂
That country is Wales tho...
Sat next to 2 people who played for Real Madrid and 1 person who was an absolute animal back in his day and he calls himself world class hahaha
Can't stand Savage at times, but Savage is doing the opposite of saying he was world class.
None of them were World class, World class is Ronaldo, Messi, Ronaldinho, Zidane, Henry, Titus Bramble...
You were doing fine till the last name, I do hope that's a joke.
It was
Michael Owen was world class for a few seasons. Mcmanaman was close to being there at times. Wright was a world class signing but I only remember him being a top poacher, never a top bracket player.
Wright got 185 goals for Arsenal. 29 in his first season. Henry got 228 goals for Arsenal, so if he's world class, so is Ian Wright.
Weren't Ian Wright's goals purely tap ins? I remember Henry appeared to play with the deficit of only scoring wonder goals. Wright's main deficit was playing non-league until about 26 - which is not a real deficit.
Talking about blowing your own trumpet.
I think what he was trying to say is even though he played for smaller teams, his attitude was world class; give 100 per cent everytime
So you just stopped people you stopped people 😂😂😂😂
Just think, in a few years this will be Hendo getting too big for his boots.
You mean champions league , premier league, world club champion winning captain of Liverpool.
@@nevermindthebollocks1171 Club world cup is too easy to win. I congratulate Liverpool on winning the Premier League and Champions League, but they would have won it without Hendo.
@@MrGFXJake club world cup is easy to win , you have to win the champions league to qualify......
And to compare Henderson with Savage is ridiculous, you don't captain teams to major trophies by being mediocre my friend.
Eight years ago, I was playing for the Roscommon Town Under-11s in the Roscommon District Youth Football League, playing a game against the other team from town. We were already 2-1 up when their keeper took a goal kick. I was stood on the halfway line, took it down, and sent it straight back to him. Looped over his head and just in under the crossbar. Only goal I scored that year, but you know something? I was world class that day, better than Messi in his prime.
the reaction when he first comes out with this utter bullshit is hilarious its like no one can quite believe what they heard which probably says it all
Fletch's reaction is priceless; he looked like he was struck dumb!
Robbie is one of them now! winter is coming and the dead come with it! get south !!!
Such a bell end. He was an average midfielder.
@MoneyBags Werner I'm still allowed to give my opinion on him same right as anybody has.
Bold words to say when you’re across from Steve Mcmanaman & Ian Wright😂😂😂
The silence after he said it 😂
Robbie savage: Iam world class
Michael Owen:
His ballon d'or: Michael Owen in word class
So everyone agrees with Savage, and the title says he is destroyed.
Destroyed by agreement?
Everyone agreed with him??
What video did you watch you deluded fuck?
They laughed at him!!
His argument is basically: "If consistency is not a part of the term "world class",I would be world class."
Everyone agrees that Savage never was, even though he had games where it would be hard to justify swapping him out for any other defensive player.
Funny how Owen didn't have much to say why the world class conversation was taking place 😂😂😂
Nesta and Cannavaro? Is he serious? Honestly Robbie, that is a joke of a comment.
Think you’ve missed the point
@@adambeagley5796 I see his point..
