3:00 - "He's not going to get selected" for jury service. Here in the UK, the jury is chosen at random by an impartial process and that is that. The lawyers have no say at all about which members of the public form a jury - in fact no-one does, not even the judge, unless he finds some legal reason why they shouldn't be on a jury and then he has them removed and replaces them with another randomly selected person. They remain anonymous until the end of the trial, when they are free to tell the press, etc, about themselves if they wish, though few do. It seems ludicrous to us that juries are basically interviewed by defense and prosecution and then whittled down to a chosen few. Of course, this does all mean that the likes of Jeremy get to judge people legally!

I did Jury Service and it ended up being 3 days of doing crosswords and reading newspapers and 2 days of an uninteresting case. They let us go after the first week.

I’ve been dragged along to nightclubs without wanting to. My get-out is saying I’m going to the toilet but I head straight for the exit instead. Then I go to a proper pub, With good Guinness, good music and a pool table. 👌

It's so funny to me that when I first watched this in my 20s I was laughing at Mark as just a buffoonish comedy character when he shuts down the party, and now that I'm past 40 I'm cheering him on lol. Could this be the sign of a "timeless" show that I find it funny in different ways as I get older?

    - Alan Partridge meets Martin Brennan - Coogan wanted to see if he could get it past the BBC - watch and see.
    - WILTY - lost my teeth at Glastonbury, even better than Bob Mortimer.

I do agree with Mark. But i have been the lads at the party and honestly i miss it a little... not allot but a bit.
The constantly trying to get more to prolong the inevitable come down is depressing enough nevermind the couple of days after of feeling, shame, guilt, uselessness, dirty, confusing and just straight up depression..
I do find heroin helps so i have started on that recently...can't imagine they'd be any draw backs.

  • @rmweidner7596

Your starting comment about people you don't want on a jury got me thinking, and the one person I would both love and hate to be on a jury with would have to be...Robin Williams.
Why I'd love to have him on the same jury as myself? Simple: because he's a riot!
Why I'd hate to have him on the same jury as myself? Because everybody else on that jury (most likely myself, included) would be part of the longest-deliberating jury in history as we went day after day of Robin Williams' stand-up.

Love Peep Show but this is easily my least-favoirite episode. The A plot is based around this insulting stereotype of a criminal scouse woman, and the B plot is a wasted opportunity, what would Mark be like if he took the E? We might find out something about him instead of having to listen to his smug conservative speech about "the miracle of consumer capitalism" - there are some funny jokes here but the episode just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
