You know, it's really great hearing people laughing at the Two Ronnies in 2024!!! I grew up watching them and it always amazes me that they still go down well. :)
No one will ever replace the two Ronnie's. Genius writing and presentation.
Thought I'd seen everything the Two Ronnies did, but obviously missed this one! So funny. 😂
I have seen most of the Two Ronnies when they were originally on tv, but i have not seen this sketch before, I laughed my socks off lol 👍👍👍
After all these years---the two oirishmen in the Bar, is still my favourite.
I put Ronnie Barker at the top of the pile... Not only was he an amazing actor in Porridge and Open All Hours, with exceptional comedic timing, but his writing and delivery for these sketches were sublime!... My only disappointment, is that he didn't do more comedic acting as there's very few shows to enjoy but those that are available are absolute gems!
The sketch at the end: two blokes live in the same street, identical houses, bloke on the right recently decorated his living room and told the bloke on the left that he'd bought 8 rolls of wallpaper to do the job. Bloke on the left assumed, when he came to decorate his living room of the same dimensions, that he would also need 8 rolls of wallpaper. Turns out it only required 6 rolls, but the bloke on the right didn't think to mention that he had two left over when he was done. So, "by coincidence", they both had the same amount left over.
They're depicted as local farmer types and so are likely to be perceived as a bit slow/unintelligent, especially the guy on the right who didn't twig that the reason they both had 2 rolls of paper left is because he didn't explain that to his friend, despite the number of rolls he needed being the relevant information, rather than how many he bought.
🤯
I wouldn't mind Spencer was doing great on the first sketch but to be so dismissive on the second the lads got an concentration span of a fly.
@@andywrong3247 Yeah, that threw me a bit, that's why I decided to chuck in an explanation. It was weirdly curt.
I wish Spencer starts calling him barker not Baker then says what ever?.in yesterday's peepshow Spencer said some Kurt remark he would ignore the guy I thought that was curt,I remember his uk visit vlog don't approach me comments then two days later his grovelling apology saying it was not ment to offen,I'm possibly reading to much into this.but I'm prepared to give him benefit of the doubt, he never seems to acknowledge our comments imput.he might learn some etiquette.
Somehow I've never seen this one before, and I thought I'd seen all of The Two Ronnies stuff so thank you bots because I was in absolutely pieces 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
the four candles sketch is famous for a reason, it's classic two ronnies, they were genius, and so quick and easy going,
The Two Ronnies’ news desk joke, of:
“And later, we’ll be meeting the Kenyan man who’s fed-up with being picked-out in identity parades just because his name is Assegai Wadunme” gets me every time
Add their Morris Dancing sketch to your watch list.
That was brilliant
Spencer when your in Newcastle try a brown ale like what they just mentioned @ 1min 44 secs on video, it's called 'Newcastle Brown Ale.' a great drink.
Newcy brown, drink it down! 🤎
What colour is it?
A bottle of dog!
My dad preferred a Jubilee Stout! Less bitter in taste than a newcy brown! When I was pregnant, my dad AND the hospital said a stout now and then was good for you! Different times then lol!
These day "dog" in much easier to find in the states than it is in the UK.
My mom was a cleaner in a pub in sheffield UK in the early 80s called the "frog and parrot"! It had a real African grey parrot. I think it was chained to a perch about 4.5 feet off the ground. She, as a cleaner regularly had to clean up after this parrot! She absolutely hated it! It screeched all the time and pecked at her once or twice! X
Two Ronnie's 'Learn Swedish' is my favourite
F- U- N- E- M? S- V- F- M.
F- U- N- E- X? S- V- F- X.
M- N- X- N. 😂😂😂 That sketch had us acting silly in the house.
From the same era as the two Ronnies, Morcombe and Wise, Tommy Cooper and of course Dave Allen were greats, Allens first day at school is possibly funnier than learning how to tell the time.
Definitely Tommy Cooper . I'm 53 and watched him as a kid and I still look for his sketches .
My Irish mother used to answer the phone and say "Hold on, I can't hear you, let me put my glasses on". The Irish are the nation that really knows how ridiculous life really is.
Yes, many of the Irish (especially of the old school) would play up to the joke by coming out with such phrases. There's a common Irish expression in some parts when you're expecting someone you know to enter a room and you hear someone come in, where an Irishman would call out: "Is that yourself?" It's one of those expressions where you know what they mean, but taken literally it does sound stupid! In our family, if one of us were coming in and heard that we'd sometimes jokingly respond with deadpan replies like "No, it's two other fellas" just to be silly, and I'm sure there are other families of Irish descent who make similar jokes!
Omg class the accents deadly
Corbett's sounds Northern Irish.
@@timmsw20 yes I thought that too and baker slight Dublin accent
You should check out some of their end of show musical routines
comedy gold.
There was one where Ronnie Corbett was in the opticians but the examiner and him got their glasses mixed up and neither of them could see properly. To make his way around the room, the examiner Ronnie B, went on all fours following a white line on the floor and Ronnie C said “Have you got a dog in here?”. It’s one of my favourites along with the one about the Argentinian racing pigeon which was actually a duck.
2 Rolls leftover, bloody funny.
Argentinian Racing Pigeon next - its sublime.
Never missed their shows. Such naturals, hilarious, timing was immaculate. Sadly no one has replaced them. Have you seen the crossword on the train sketch..? Side splitting.
The Phantom Raspberry Blower of Old London Town..by the 2 Ronnie's..a must watch
I don't know how they did the sketch without cracking up.
As a plastic Paddy myself, we were weened on Irish jokes growing up in London. Even our stand up comedians would tell some hilarious Irish jokes once upon a time. It was similar to how American comedians would tell jokes about the Polish ( Pollacks ). I can still visualise " Spike Milligan's " The Irish Space Programme sketch. Sheer comedy genius.
National stereotypes used to be frequent in comedy, but in the PC 20s, they've disappeared.
The wooden rocket 🚀 so as not to burn up they’re flying at night
I'm a middle-aged Scotsman - I recently caught myself saying "That's a bit Irish", when somebody said something that didn't make sense. I hadn't said it in ages, it just came out. Nearly got in bother over it 😅
@@Michael-ns1ey I married a Scot 🥰, and have enjoyed over 30yrs of endless racist banter with all sides of the family. No one has the right to tell us how we annoy each other. Our DNA is too entwined for a fook-wit to dictate how we laugh😜💪....
Oh Spike's "Irish" sketches are incredible. The Irish O'Lympics is great too. I bloody love that man
Have you seen the 2 Ronnies sketch "Insurance against Jewishness"? It's great.
and The Boring Accountant, The Confusing Library , and many many more.
I grew up with these two. It is so funny to see your reaction to their unique humour.
Grew up on The Two Ronnies yet never remembered this sketch. Laughed so hard I induced a coughing fit
The best thing is the laughter is from a live audience not recorded canned laughter
There’s a place in Ireland called Cork also😂
God bless the two Ronnies 🥰🌟
As an Irish man i approve 😂😂😂😂 this is great craic
Check out the My Blackberry Is Not Working sketch so clever and so funny. Sadly Ronnie Barker had passed and Harry Enfield did the sketch with Ronnie Corbett brilliant stuff
Unfortunately the down side of technology related jokes is they age very quickly! My kids don't have a clue what a Blackberry is (they think it's a fruit. Lol).
@@mdhazeldineYeah, I love that sketch but I've seen a lot of American reactors watch it and they haven't a clue what a lot of the references are about.
They have did this one already ..
Have you checked out their "Racing Duck" sketch.
Pure gold!.👍
Hi guys. You need to check Two Ronnies Aldershot Brass Ensemble to see them at their best
That Lord knows......He get about.
There is a two Ronnie’s sketch where two yokels are chatting and one says “You know if I had Rockefellers’s money I’d be richer than Rockefeller , why’s that then, says the second yokel ? Because, I’d have my money as well.
The funniest two are on the top
You guys would love the series 'Open all hours' starring Ronnie Barker.
Look up The 2 Ronnies 'The Worm that Turned' sketches, and "Charley Farley" and "The Phantom Raspberry Blower of Olde London Town"
Be warned, for every Fork Candles and Irish Pub, there are 20 "wallpapers", so I'd suggest sticking with the "Best Of" compilations. That said, the Two Ronnie's had some of the best writers around. Mot of Monty Python, Spike Milligan, John Sullivan (Only Fools and Horses), Barry Cryer (much under-appreciated comedy genius for over 7 decades) all wrote from the Two Ronnies.
“A couple, two or three…” 3:57
Just as good as The Two Ronnies is Morecambe and Wise. Watch them with Andre Previn. Previn was a world famous conductor. They never told him what was going to happen, but just play along with it. The result was one of the funniest comedy sketches in history.
Please don't forget about Tommy cooper 🙏
And Jethro .. RIP
Imagine trying to learn that script or writing it!
A well travelled American said everytime he returned to the USA he could not help noticing how different other people are from Americans.
If you like Irish humour, you would love the Film, Hear My Song.Ned Beaty plays a starring role and does brilliantly. A real feelgod , hilarious Film.Hard to find maybe, 1993/4?Based on a true story.
Sadly both gone now. Ronnie Barker ( the taller of the two) wrote most of not all the sketches.
You need to watch "racing duck"
This reminds me of my one-time joke I made several years ago (not suggesting I'm anywhere near their mastery!) that happened to be true. "I went to see The Day After Tomorrow the day before yesterday". My friend didn't even laugh! 😆
Ronnie Barker is probably the best " wordsmith " of my time here on the planet ! The man is a genius and writes most of the stuff ! - That's not to take anything away from Ronnie Corbet ! He was the perfect foil for Barker. Sadly missed !! and never could be replaced, in fact, they were an " institution " in their own right.
Chase up Marty Feldman doing The Bishop Of No Fixed Abode.
I am a UK gen X er. I loved our comedy growing up...😅
You should react to the skit called "Encyclopedia salesman".
You should watch the fork handles scene
This was on our tvs 30 years or more ago.Great comics Barker was brilliant.
Have you watched The Two Ronnies Swear Box?
Do the Rook Restaurant
Could you have a look at Reeves and Mortimer’s Mulligan and O’Hare? Particularly ‘My Rose has left me’? It’s short but it’s funny and I’d love to see your reactions ❤️
The Two Ronnies orthodox jew insurance is hilarious.
U gotta check out dave Allen and Morecombe and wise.
I first saw this sketch on TV as a kid and loved it despite (or maybe because of) being half-Irish, but then I didn't see this repeated for many years later until the arrival of the internet, when I finally rediscovered it. It's playing on the whole "Irish people are stupid" stereotype which used to be very common, but it's done in such an imaginative and quick-fire way that it's still just brilliant. (Spike Milligan played on that a lot too, but being of Irish stock himself he could also get away with it!)
I remembered the whole "Lord knows..." part of this sketch, but couldn't recall the banter in between and was going almost crazy thinking I'd imagined the whole thing, since noone remembered this sketch!
Now I can see it anytime on the interwebs, and I love to see it over and over whenever someone reacts to it. Fantastic to see you both watch this, and finding it as hilarious as I did! 🤣
Super sketch.
There's one place I'll never be stuffed.
You both missed the sign in the entranced " two planks " ,,, a plank means idiot in English & irish .
I miss the type of humour from those times. I really don't understand the present humour in the UK.
Neither do I - that's why I go back and watch a lot of the old classic stuff too!
Go watch Porridge starring Ronnie Barker.
they're starting to believe...
Argentinian Racing Pigeon....
This is from a time when there was a lot of racism against the Irish, in the UK. Like your Polish jokes, every joke was about the Irish being really stupid. The comedians who told Irish jokes disappeared in the early 1980s. The Two Ronnies ended their show, when young, more modern comedians started to take the piss out them and they took it personally.
I'll tell you this. Most Irish jokes were told to me by Irish mates. When I had one to tell them, they were all ears. If the jokes stayed daft, they were ok, but no hateful jokes were told. I'm sorry you didn't get the joke at the end.
Please watch porridge and open all hours
React to the two Ronnie's sketch swear box.
Oh, yeah. TV used to be racist.
( open all hours ) please
Like others of a certain vintage I thought I'd seen all the Two Ronnies sketches. But I didn't remember this one. Very stupid, but very funny, if you go with the flow. And I say that as an Irishman. Couldn't be made nowadays, of course.
British comedy at it's best ! 🇬🇧 This had me crying with laughter as did you guys ! 😂
If you like Irish humour you should try getting a Frank Carson video!!!
Problem is Irish loved us❤❤❤
has anyone watched a american comedy ? and found it funny ? answers on a postage stamp.why do the yanks always find the comedy shows in the u/k funny they laugh more at the uk comedy shows here in the uk than at there own country. why is that.?
When I was young everyone told Irish jokes, not to make fun of the Irish , but because they were funny.
This was our regular bread and butter viewing, it was every day evening viewing. Nothing but crap now, no talent at all.
Hey, you two need to stop supporting Trump.
I think they got a bit of stick for making Irish jokes so they just made the characters "local yokels" and told the same silly jokes.
Cute, but not hilarious. Seems like you guys are forcing yourselves to over react to something that's not that funny.
