    My 2020 orbea Occam got a lot of loving over the winter. All new pivot bearings, new pedal bearings, new BB, new headset, full shock and fork service, new shock bushings, derailleur overhaul, new pulley wheels, new chain, brake bleed, new cables. She's ready for another year of getting thrashed.

    Great 👍 video Neil , covering all bases ! I think on the coil section for sag measurement of 30% of 210mm is 63mm not 15mm as stated & may confuse some people 🤔

    Use the bottom out bumper on a coil shock, essentially same as using the oring of an air shock
    Another thing no matter what the "industry" tells you coil suspension was and it's superior still to air

    I use lockers quite often to be fair. For example if I go and do asphalt run then I lock out my suspension so that way it is as stiff as possible and the speed doesn't get suck into the softness of the ride

    Wondering: Do you set forks on a hard tail the same way as the forks on full sus, or do you aim for something a bit different with the sag and rebound? Cheers.

    Would there be any bias in terms of sag (front and rear) for a newer rider with less skill, whilst they are slightly over-biked and not yet using it to it's full potential? So would 27% be better than 30% for a newer rider? Or would it the same regardless if newbie or pro?

    • @gmbn
      @gmbn  Před rokem +1

      Hi Stewart! No particularly. Running more sag will make the bike feel slower and more energy sapping. Having the correct amount of sag for your weight is the best policy to make the bike feel more alive. You can always play with compression and rebound afterwards to get the most comfortable setup for you. We hope this helps! 👍

    You service you're suspension yearly rather than the hourly recommended intervals??? You are a mountain bike content provider and probably hit the hourly service recommendation 3-4 times per year or more potentially.

    Love the bike design czcams.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L and functionality. It is hard to align the front tired to center the disk brakes. The brake wheel touches the stationery side of the brake caliper and pad. I aired the tire up to 40 psi as the markings say 40-60psi. Left the house for a few hours and came back to an exploded innertube.All in all it seems to be a good bike. Have not ridden it yet though so that's the max of my knowledge. Update, put a new innertube made sure the tire was set properly and it did the same thing in under 20 minutes as second pic shows.

    Neil I dont think you were very clear when you mentioned service intervals for our suspension. You SHOULD NOT wait a whole year to service your fork lowers and shock's air can. Those should be done every 3-4 months if you ride every weekend or try to anyways. Im sure Neil was talking servicing the damper and replacing seals. Granted if hes talking to a demographic who only rides once a month then they could prob get away with once a year but still that's hard on your components.
    On another tip; Another way, that DOES NOT involve having to let all the air out of your shock, to check to see if your full squish bike's 12 speed chain is at the right length is to shift to your hardest gear and check to see if your chain runs directly below the derailleurs knuckle/clutch (part which has the pulleys) and not above it or sagging down to far below. It should be right up under it where you can visually see it. Hope that makes sense. Cheers
