- We found this 1947 Ford truck posted for sale online and had to come take a look at it. It runs, has its original paint, and it's rust free. It seems to be a really solid survivor. The question is... do we really need to buy it? 🤔

When the guy was grinding the motor over to start it, you can hear an ‘easy’ cylinder, like a valve stuck open or burnt or something along that order. At least one cylinder doesn’t have the compression that all the others have, it should sound consistent grinding over. if it starts up and still misses, I would back it outside and speed it up just barely and trickle some automatic transmission fluid down through the carburetor to make a fog that may loosen up the stuck valve, if that’s all it is. I hope for your sake that’s all it needs because flat heads valves are not easy to work on, And if the past owner didn’t run lead substitute in the gas, they may have receded into the seats a little bit and that be why it’s missing. A Valve that can’t seat all the way down is like a sink stopper not being pushed all the way in.., it’s not going to hold what it’s supposed to hold. In this case it’s your compression.
You've got a good ear, my friend! I'm a novice and my guess was timing and/or carb problems with the hard starting and the way it was running. I guess it could have all those issues too
I felt sorry for that starter.
Galloping (Mortske Repair)
You are going to be busy Nathan, the engine sounds a little off song!😉
Hey Bad Chad and Queen Jolene! Thank you for this interesting presentation! I never cease to be amazed at the temerity and duplicity shown by some sellers, who falsely claim to have a vehicle for sale which is "rust free", with "original attributes" but at the same time, admit to having made various alterations and highly questionable "improvements", to the "original" components in question! ...Total poppycock in my book! Congratulations to you, 👏 🎉 for leaving the clearly discernible mess behind! Regards! 😊🌟👊✨
Love the old pickups. Great patina
Nice to see someone that love’s the old trucks, keep it original as possible 😊 Only original once 😅
Nate would have that starting as soon as you stuck the key in.
Great truck and great originality. The only thing I would be wary of is the flat head that wont idle and making some noise. The one's I've heard purred like kittens.
The guy's giving off salesman vibes, a good find doesn't need that much rambling to sell.
It runs terrible,sounds awful.
When's the next time you'll find an original? Grab it !
Even when you think the paint is too far gone a little chemical cleaning or light sanding you'd be surprised how much of the original paint cam come out
It needs a Nathan tune up 👍
Really a great old Truck, I inherited my grandfather's 1949 ford pickup and drove it for a while.. if needed some work on the fenders as it was a farm truck. I would buy this truck.
Love watching these videos being so close to home.
Sounds like the engine is misfiring. Needs help.
The grill in these Fords made a musical sound like a cord when the truck was running about 50 MPH..I'm 85 and remember hearing it as a young boy..
Needs a major tune up.
Compression and leak down test.
Patina is Spanish for Needs Paint! lol Stuff is painted for a good reason!
Nice solid old truck, sounds like sticky lifter or two. That’s minor.
Looks good. Had a 51 F2 with V8 and 4 speed. Great paint yet
Very nice old truck. I would love to own one of these old Ford F1's. Lots of cool things you can do to these old trucks. I would buy the truck in a heartbeat if only I had the money.
Very nice truck Chad and Jolene 👍
Lovely truck but sounds like it has a miss fire
Actually it was a f1, and I still have the cab, boxsides ,fenders, had plans, but they on hold as I 'm 80 and had a stroke .
Not many of those finds left. Grab it!
I’d love one of those old fords
I would definitely check the running board mounts🤣
Jolene got a closeup of one of the mounts for ya 👍

Mid 70,s dodge trucks are clean up very nicely some had very comfy leather seats
My great grandpa had a Ford truck like that. His was Army green

Yes, 👍 the Ford truck is not bad and has a nice survivor look, but perhaps the engine is struggling a bit and needs an overhaul..

Nice truck , it needs a little attention from Nathan to get the engine running smooth but for the rest nice car
Engine missing timing and engine problems.

Nice truck 😊
Very nice truck
Nice looking yoke
I don't think they will buy this one. It being original and not needing a lot of work. Was a nice old truck as well.
Love it!
Chad, sounds like leaky valves or bad plugs/wires? All that sheet metal work and no tune up?
Neat truck
I bought a 1950 Ford pickup like this and it was at least this nice original paint 50,000 miles and backed in their consider ugly trucks and nobody wanted them. It was generally used for publicity and in the Irish parades for the 20 years or so before I bought it. The prior owner just got older than want to mess with it anymore so I bought it and a 50 GMC. So the 50 GMC immediately before ever and pick it up. The guy sold it to pick it up. Well someone came across had more money than I thought it was worth at that time. Life is really busy for me. So I sold it to the guy thinking it was going to go to a good home. But as it turned out he just destroyed the truck. Needlessly to say twenty or so years later now that truck would be worth quite a bit more. Judging by the other ones I've got out in the barn or have had out there I'm sure that's truck would have fared pretty well. That's my story.🧰🧰🧰😎
sweet truck u guys would look gangster in that
It will sell fast
tres belle patine
to buy and absolutely keep as it is.......fantastic 👍💪
What a cool old F47 truck!!!!
I wanted to hear it run
Grab it it's worthy ! Now if ya got this one how would huou do it ! , modify chop cut rebuild? Lots of ideas but it's team Hiltz decision to make ! ❤ Jolene it would be a great buy ,but would YOU like done to it or more IMPORTANTLY how Chad feels about it ! Love this show who doesn't!
Hey Hi again Bad Chad and Jolene from the D Michigan hey the motor 😁 I really appreciate seeing the old 47 Ford 70 th.mi. True Survivor ❤🎉
Nathan will have to tune it. I had a 42 Canadian and it started with half turn with a crank handle and ran like a Rolex
That is awesome I'd drive it every sunny day I could
If you give it a modern twist it would look awesome
looks too good, I think Chad will pass on it.
I had a 1950 F1 that I drove as my daily driver for about 8 years back in the 80s and early 90s. I needed some money to start a new house the choice was sell my truck or my harley, and always regretted I choose to sell the truck. Should have listened to my wife.
Very nice Truck Chad and Jolene
Been watching everyday and night. I love your videos, hoping to win a shirt! I watched the orange trunk lid, taping, time, sanding, trunk spray...wow, it came out awesome! 😊❤
Yes You Need To Buy It
🛠🛠
Nice truck but sounds like a bad valve for sure
Saturday
Good evening everyone
100% would buy the truck, it needs a little work by the sounds of the engine but for daily use it's a no brainer really
Buy it 🎉absolutely lovely original truck
👍
Chad looks very Jay Lenoesque
Is the choke stuck or somethin' really rich
Nice
Little "flatty" sound like it needs a complete tune up......Sounds like it's missing on one cylinder...
BUY IT! BUY THEM ALL!
