I remember when Toby Keith came to Afghanistan when I was deployed there back in 2012. He sang this song live to a crowd of more than a thousand service men and women. It's an experience I cherish, and this song holds a special place in my heart because of it.

Thanks, mate. U.S. Navy, disabled vet. I had the honor of serving 9 mos. with an Aussie squadron and Brit Marines during the Gulf War. I still can't crack a beer without saying, "Cheers, mate!" and lifting it. A fond salute to my brothers across the pond and my brothers down under. Freedom isn't free. My stepdad was a Marine, he was a Japanese man fighting For America, when he was captured, becoming a PoW, they caused him even more pain because he was Asian, fighting for the "white side" He passed away away 9yrs go. On this day, (Veterans day), I would always make him his favorite meal and dessert. Now I make a meal consistenting of dishes that the veterans in my family like.

This song gets me every time. Having been a military wife, I can say the worst thing is dreading that knock on the door at 2am. There are many sleepless nights but we have to carry on for the kids and be strong. I was extremely lucky my man came back standing up, not lying down. God Bless all military personnel - past, present and future. THEY are the ones that keep us and others free.
I joined the Army as a medic in 08’ and as a veteran this has always been my favorite song about the Army 😆.

If anyone was noticing the war clips with metal helmets, These clips came from the A & E release, The Lost Battalion, a biopic movie based on WWI events where Rick Schroder, starring as Maj. Charles White Whittlesey who was ordered to take his division (77th Infantry) into the Argonne forest and take Charlevaux Mill and ordered to stay until told otherwise. They get broken off from contact from anyone other than his squadron of tired men who waited the German soldiers out for 3 days. Schroder also starred in the Lonesome Dove TV Mini Series as Newt Dobbs, and before this Movie Release, he was Det. Danny Sorenson in NYPD BLUE.

I joined USN 1986/91. My husband served 86/2011 25 years..through Desert Storm, Enduring freedom, Iraqi freedom, post 9/11. He started as an E1, bottom of the barrel and after 13 years, he received a commission as an officer. He retired as a LT O3E which shows his devotion. He deployed constantly. I think in 2 and a half years, he was in our home 10 days. People always asked how I did it. I would say, I was a sailor, I love my country and this is what we sign up for! Still married, 33 years..we like commitments! Very proud female veteran God bless America 🇺🇸

It does matter if it's Toby Keith's American Soldier, Lee Greenwood's God Bless the U.S.A., The Dixie Chicks' Travelin Soldier, etc, etc. I love them all, but I have to cry, I just can't help it!!! They played this song at my basic training coining ceremony, I remember standing in formation at attention surrounded by all of our families trying not to cry. This song still makes me tear up. amazing song.

When does the things I really liked about this specific video is how it showed all the different wars from the Civil War to today. He didn't just make it about this war since 911.

New here, just stumbled on your site. Toby can be a ton of fun...but when it comes to his country and the military...he's dead serious. That's a trait of a lot of country singers here in the states. One of their best traits. Gotta love 'em! (By the way, Billy Ray Cyrus is a piss poor representation of country! 😏)
Toby is one of the most patriotic singers in the entire music industry. He does a lot of goofy fun songs but the man has a truly big heart and a lot of respect for military service men and women. For another great funny song by him listen to “Red Solo Cup”. Another great patriotic song is “Courtesy of the Red White and Blue”

As the daughter of a career Army soldier thank you from the bottom of my heart for honoring our military members on Remembrance/ Veteran's Day.
My daddy was in WWII, my husband was in Vietnam and my son was in the Army but never deployed.
American Soldiers are… just … they are just….. no words….we honor and love them 🇺🇸❤️

I live in Arlington, VA...about 3 miles from the cemetery, and my dad is buried there. Even with seeing it all the time, it's still very sobering. Check out Trace Adkin's song Arlington. I read a very good book about Aussies in WWII called Tobruk, by Peter Fitzsimmons, if you're interested in that sort of thing. Whenever I think of Aussies and Remembrance Day, I think of And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda. In that line, he summed up the mindset of every career soldier who has a family to support and a life to live. They all want to go home. But they will not hesitate to give their life trying to get their buddy home too.

It is the only Job in my entire life that didn't feel like a job, --- it felt more like waking up to go hang out with the siblings and friends-- and I completely regret leaving. I did my time and got out and have been kicking myself ever since because now I am too old to go back in. You can damn sure bet I would if they allowed it. A nod to 69th Sig. Co. ( The Zoo ) in Ft. Huachuca, AZ by the way. Go get some, Dawgs.

You sir have no idea what we feel when we walk up that ramp! I am now retired but I walked up that ramp several times and I can tell you it's heartbreaking! Do we go or stay? The answer is always go. I left a wife and 3 kids my last time up that ramp. Now I am enjoying the time with my grandchildren!
