  • BUY, LEASE OR FINANCE A DACIA DUSTER FROM OSV: bit.ly/37ID52Y
    The second generation Dacia Duster continues to offer a trendy compact 5-door SUV Crossover for supermini money.
    A new car for the price of a second hand one is always a tempting prospect and when it's as smartly styled and capable as Dacia's Duster, the concept becomes particularly appealing. Undercutting rival models in the small SUV segment by an enormous amount, this Romanian budget brand uses proven Renault engineering to create a very likeable product that could prove ideal as back-up family transport. This second generation version gets more technology and a bit of extra polish, otherwise, the basic recipe's pretty much unchanged. Dig down the back of the sofa for some money and join the queue to try one.

    Ive seen loads of car reviews over the last few years. This is the best ive seen - period. This guy should have replaced JC on Topgear. He's extremely easy to listen to and throws the odd bit of wit into what I ve found to be the best detailed review of a car i've seen. Most of these reviews skip important and essential info and tbh the presenters are jsut a bit lazy. This is the first time ive actually subscribed to a you tube channel - just because how excellent this mans review is. I hope someone in media spots this guy as he deserves to get on to TV and onto a proper car show instead of all the other vanilla presenters out there. Well done fella. Excellent info on the gen 2 Duster!

    What a brilliant presentation style. Honest, balanced and informative. About the car, not the presenter's ego. Very refreshing and the best car review I have seen in many a year.
    I took the plunge and bought this trim level - its equivalent - Duster, 3 years ago; the 'first generation.'
    Given the new purchase price I was ready to forgive it any shortcomings.
    Well, Im pleasently surprised to say that I need not have worried.
    The car has, at 75, 000 km in 3 years, been faultless apart from 1 headlight bulb; I was able to change that myself in 3 minutes, something I've not done for years. Oh, total cost €4.50.
    No squeaks, no rattles, no creaky trim and 50 to 60 mpg from the 1.5 litre diesel.
    Only just needing to replace the front tyres too.
    This car has been far better than it has any right to be.
    I'm guessing they are Renault's Skoda. Good tough cars, reliable and improved with every generation.
    They're not always going to be cheap.
    Oh yes, out of curiosity I got it's value at 3 years; 60% of the purchase price; not bad at all.

      It's only nearly 4 months old, 4000 miles on the clock since we bought it new. I drove it from Hastings to Coventry and back on a stormy day. 60mph crosswinds on the M40, and the car was fine. Cruises well at 'around 70'. The acceleration in 5th is very good, I was surprised. It returned about 45mpg on the journey.

    I've just taken that different approach and bought a Duster Journey Tce 130 - yes those engines that the presenter here wanted are now available. It was a cost-led choice and I thought it would be a big step down from the Audis I've had for over 20 years. Not so. I love it! Simple, practical, robust. The huge boot gobbles up bales of hay and horse feed. It has an easy to use infotainment system with Apple CarPlay. I am not sat there wondering what the hell all the buttons are for. It has 360 degree cameras for parking. As the presenter says, everything I need and nothing that I don't.

      Tom Holmes unfortunately no dealers have them in stock. My stepdad got a Dacia Duster 1.4/1.5 diesel (due to him doing a lot of miles) Comfort he loves it but don’t be fooled by the manual, it says it comes with Apple car play and android auto but it doesnt..
      He pays £230 a month (on a HP contract plus an old finance from his 65 plate duster on top) they said it would come within about a week and got it on the 2nd week. They’re selling out faster than they can make them the guy said down at Dacia here in Essex. He was lucky because diesels are not really wanted anymore so they have more diesels in stock than petrols.
      One thing i think they need to step up and do are automatics. Automatic Dacia’s are very rare. We got told the new model Dacia’s won’t have automatics until early/ middle 2nd quarter of next year.

    A good sensible review - thanks. I bought one of these as a second car in September - the exact same spec and colour as your test car. I am absolutely delighted with the car (and I have owned new Jaguars, Mercedes and even Rolls Royce!). I agree the performance of the petrol is limited, but I think it suits the car as it is relaxing to drive, especially on local trips. It's not a car for the average Audi driver..... Overall It feels well made, it's very well equipped and I'm getting around 40mpg. Dacia have announced they will offer a 1.3 turbo petrol next year - no prices yet, but there's a danger that they may get too pricey and I wonder if the more powerful engine could be too much for the chassis dynamics? The spare wheel is an option for the 2 wheel cars (about £150 from memory). I also heard that Dacia won't be offering an automatic in this country as expected demand is not sufficient? The diesel may offer better performance and economy, but the extra cost means you have to do an awful lot of miles before you get a payback (although I accept residuals may be better)

    This is a fabulously detailed review. I really am impressed. As a result, my Desert Orange Duster will be delivered in 10 days time .. I'll be sad to part with my Laureate 1.5 diesel, Dusty the Duster .. It has looked after us so well for 38,000 miles in the last 23 months .. We love our Duster .. ;-)

      OSV I am in the Faroe Isalnds and I bought the Diesel Automatic and really enjoying the car. It has to be tough in some of the terrain here and the weather conditions in winter.. looked at the Prestige 4X4 petrol manual, but it felt a much smaller car.

    Two questions as you referenced the Nissan Juke, is that rear seat base as hard to lift as the Juke's, does the so called leather split as easily as a 2011Juke Tekna's ?
    It's a shame that the rear seat back just don't fold down onto the seat base. Game changer, quite possibly. Nice looking car let down by those rear seats.

    That's a great and informative reviewing style. Telling us what we need to know and not trying to be a comedian. The one thing I'm a little puzzled about is your preference for electric steering over hydraulic. The reason manufacturers have gone electric is cost, emissions and fuel economy (the electric system uses less power than a hydraulic one), but every car with electric steering that I have driven offers about as much steering feel as a video game, the hydraulic systems being far more informative; not that a buyer in this market sector is going to be bothered about such niceties (that is not me sneering, I've just bought a Jogger).

    Very very good... I'm soon going to pick up a 2019 1.6 4x4. I specifically want a non turbo petrol as I want it to last as long as possible - this engine literally has the least to go wrong in any of the models. I've had Mercedes, VW, Jaguar, Ford, Audi, Nissan etc etc and every modern diesel is plagued by dpf, adblue, turbo & other issues. Frankly I've had enough.
    This car is "old school" in a relatively new package. And 4wd means it will keep me out of trouble (that and the lack of power :-))...
    That will do for me.
    Best most in depth review I have seen... no gimmicks, no stupidity or "comedy".. Just facts presented in an interesting way.
    Just what you want from a car review... If I want to watch Top Gear or The Grand Tour - I can. and do!!

    “Inertia” reduced use of aggressive braking - backing off early.

  • @jjg3165
    @jjg3165 Před 4 lety +2

    For the price you pay, and the spec, it's well priced, plus it's more reliable than the £30,000-£40,000 cars you're comparing it against. Only snobs go for badging, and how many times, has badging been shown to of been a rip-off, Just ask any Land Rover, Jaguar, Merc and BMW ( where an aerial is an optional extra at stupid money). The Duster is an honest car that won't see you re-mortgaging the house for repair bills, and planning trips between the pumps.

  • @GeorgeZaharia
    @GeorgeZaharia Před 4 lety +1

    "Inertia use", basically means you get your car in dead gear and leave it to run by itself (from the inertia of the speed u previously accelerated to) without gas pedaling it (mostly used in aggressive town driving from stop to stop no need to keep it in gear all the time), ECO driving! :) is in the driver books(for manual gearboxes, never driven a automatic not even sure automatic has a "dead gear')! Atleast in Romania... that is.. not sure about the ECO driving methods implementation in the driver schools in other countries. Im actually looking to buy a car myself, and im from Romania, wanted a ESP + ABS car SUV and 4x4 and i was looking at the Duster but wasn't that sure if it's the right fit for me, i did driven a Logan for a while and it felt nice for a budget car, im presuming the Duster is similar, how about comfort for people that are tall? like 1.80m+? Cause one thing i hate at most cars, they are made for people up to 1.70m and that extra 20 cm of space i really need it, and i don't like my chair backup to max or lean to much on back, is uncomfortable cause i can't see stuff.
