Extreme Sand Driving - You won't believe what a Duster can do ! [FUTURE TERRAIN]

  • This video follows my week on expedition with Armed Forces charity Future Terrain. They spent the week pushing my limits and the amazing guys they work with by driving Dacia Dusters on a variety of off-road surfaces.
    After a day of classroom theory and practice we headed to Broughton Burrows to put our skills into practice. It didn't take long to get a car stuck and the fun escalated from there. You simply won't believe how capable the Dacia Duster is. It blew me away.
    For more information about Future Terrain and the incredible work they do take a look at their website...

    I always admired Dacia for their no nonsense budget motoring approach, offered at a very sensible and realistic price, after watching this I am now convinced of their durability as well, what a great company to sponsor such a worthy cause for all of our brave armed forces heros !!.

      Convince yourself again.. did you actualy saw how many modifications their Duster have? I know the Duster is a reliable and good offroad car.. Because i have one.. and is not modified like this and can do all you see on this video.. and more..But hey.. if you have the money to modify it like the Duster in the Video.. do it.. but if you ask me.. is not really worth it.

    I've down graded from a BMW M240 to a Dacia Duster Mk2 and I actually have to say that apart from out and out speed the Duster wins hands down. What an incredible vehicle and I genuinely have to say that driving combined with the technology that Dacia adds makes this an incredible car. It looks great and drives better than most cars around currently

      Did you tune the turbo? I did it. Stage 2 only but that is enough for 340Nm torque in a 1.3T vehicle 👍 What was the weight to torque ratio in the M240? 500Nm and 1.6T....

It’s lovely to read and hear about these organisations that help and support the ex-army soldiers and give them a new purpose. This brings back memories of me mucking about in my Delica many years ago. Following along the banks of the Warwickshire Avon where no cars had previously driven. A flooded riverside road was always fun, but you would have to know precisely how deep the water is. And 3ft of flood water can be tricky ;-))...
    I shall watch tomorrow awaiting to hear your screams :-))...

      When it comes to sand and mud, a Duster with a cheap 2in lift , 235/70R16 tires MT's, chip tuned to 100KW, Torsen diff in front and LockRight full locker in the rear, will compete with just about any 4x4 out there. Especially the big and heavy ones will get stuck no matter what. Physical laws are a funny thing. Come to Africa and see if you can drive where I go. Never mind a Land Rover. But than again, the "plain" Duster you see in this video has little to do with the one I have.

    You may be in the same 'bubble', but you are not from the same household or even the same part of the country. Simple common-sense should dictate that you wear masks. With around 7000 new Covid cases PER DAY in the UK currently, we all need to take this seriously, and demonstrate that we are. *Edited due to factual error.

    • @PetrolPed
      @PetrolPed  Před 3 lety +1

      We had strict anti Covid19 measures in place and were following government guidelines to the letter. We were sleeping in the same room and didn’t mix with people from other pods.
      Check out some of my other recent videos and you will see me wearing a mask when appropriate. I believe I am one of the few automotive channels doing that. I am taking it seriously. I do have a responsibility to ‘do the right thing’. However we also need to carry on with life, taking precautions of course, as this virus isn’t going anywhere soon and I don’t see a vaccine helping us for the foreseeable future 😢

    • @PetrolPed
      @PetrolPed  Před 3 lety +3

      Oh and the last time the daily death rate went over 100 in the UK was 27 July. Through most of August and September it was in single figures and now it’s up at about 60. Still terrible but where on earth did you get 7000 from 🤷‍♂️

    • @doyouchivebro
      @doyouchivebro Před 3 lety +3

      Will you shut up?! You utter twazzock.
      Nowhere on the planet has the death rate been 7000 per day. There would be bodies piled up in the streets or in mass graves were that the case.
      The current rate of INFECTION is 7000 per day in the UK.
      You obviously have no grasp on the law, the rules regarding COVID or the fact that the leader of the expedition would have been utterly compliant with all precautions needed to prevent infection or spread.
      If you’re going to try and call someone out for breaking the rules then best to get your facts straight before you make yourself look like a complete idiot.

    • @resnonverba137
      @resnonverba137 Před 3 lety

      @@PetrolPed My apologies, you are correct regarding the figures, I have edited my comment. I'll put it down to it being rather late at night. However, my general point remains as strong as ever. According to some research, the virus can have a gestation period of up to 27 days. That means that you could catch it, take it home to your family etc, and be unaware until the damage is done. The UK's Covid response is pathetic and the figures demonstrate that. Individuals need to use their own common sense to stay safe. Wearing a mask is not pleasant, yet far better than the possible alternative.

    • @PetrolPed
      @PetrolPed  Před 3 lety +1

      @Res Non Verba Wearing a mask will not protect you from a gestation period of 27 days (not sure where you got that number from either ?!). Good hand hygiene and social distancing where possible are far more affective. That said take a look at my recent McLaren video and you will see I am wearing a mask and explain the reason why. Now go and look through other channels and see how many are doing the things I am doing 😉
