    OP's Ex went straight up villain mode near the end. No one helped him when he was her age, so he's gonna let her suffer? What is this? A classic villain backstory? The man needs help, don't take your pain out on others it does not make for a good life.

      There's no way she should stay with him if he sticks to that, can you imagine how callous he'd be if they had kids and his parents harassed their children if they were LGBT, if this is how he acts about his sister being in that situation??
      Red flags out the ears, I hope either he gets over himself or she gets the fuck outta there, same for the sister

      Wouldn't be surprised if the "trauma" was a manipulative tactic in that case. But something tells me that the whole family messed up and their church isn't one of the goods ones.

      @mr.dickbutttheog2064 Před 19 dny

      It’s a manipulation tactic golden children typically use for sympathy points, he never specified why he was “abused” but kept bringing up whatever “traumatized” him which made me doubt he was even abused in the first place.

    • @floralglitch
      @floralglitch Před 18 dny +1

      I reckon that the "golden child" treatment wasn't about him being the favourite, but more about him being a boy (re: he mentions how he had more freedom, that his sister had purity training or whatever and he didn't). We don't know what happened to him or what kind of stuff he might have buried. It definitely sounds like the whole ordeal triggered him something awful, and that he's spiralling and lashing out in response. It's very common. Awful situation all around, I hope all parties (OP and the siblings) find peace and healing in the future. Organised religion is a social disease.

    Story 2: Ah yes, the usual 'I married an emotional and fanancial leech and later they left to suck on someone else'. Final story... what did mom mean they couldn't afford photoshop? It's not that expensive... most professional photographers actually include touch ups free or low cost. When my nephew scratched up his face in a bike accident, the photog at his 8th grade graduation did PERFECT photoshop to make it look like it didn't happen at no charge.

    This is why it is so so SO important to pick a quality partner with good habits and dependability straight out the gate, and not just go for whatever is easiest and hottest and most attractive to you at the time. That stuff can fade so fast, get old so fast, and be gone so fast when the relationship based on nothing but heat and attraction fades. The bones of the relationship must be good, the foundation strong. You pick a quality partner instead of falling into something “good enough” at the moment. Kids inevitably happen on accident and you’re stuck with a crap partner and it ends like this story. I was 17 when I figured this out and I am so glad that I used my head instead of just hormones. Hormones picked a guy who ended up eventually running out on three different baby mamas. I dumped him because I could see the writing on the wall-knew what it was like to have a hot but junky terrible father, didn’t want to repeat my mother’s mistakes because I knew what it did to our lives, and I went for a good decent man instead. Run on sentence but you get the point 😂. I wanted a safe stable happy home for my kids and they’ve absolutely had that. And this guy I married? He’s been the making of and the love of my life. What I thought that I felt for that other guy felt so intense at the time. Now I realize that it was absolutely NOTHING in comparison to this. A shadow of feeling, all raging hormones and physical attraction-nothing more. Yesterday my husband and I worked in the garden, drank tiki mixed drinks in crazy tiki cups, played music, carried around fuzzy little kittens to see what outside looked like-just had the best day together doing simple homey things that made us happy and feel grounded. Then our adult daughter got home from work (she’s going to be leaving soon to go live with her boyfriend in her university town where he teaches at the uni) and we all had a lovely dinner together of grilled foods over the fire pit. We fed the fish in our pond and sat together as the solar lights came on one by one illuminating the garden everywhere. It felt magical. I never would have had anything like this with that junky dude if I hadn’t gotten rid of him. I would have been a broke miserable single mother just like mine struggling and had unhappy kids because I wasn’t happy or there for them due to working my tail off all the time to keep food on the table. Instead my kids had upscale vacations and we paid for their friends to go to make it even more fun. They had music lessons, sporting events, water park adventures, huge happy birthday parties at cool party places etc. The works. Holidays were done in very special ways. We have a million bright sparkling memories of happy times together and it’s only because I loved the right man instead of a wrong one. We’ve been married for 27 years now, together for 29. Best decision ever. I love him so much that sometimes it scares me. I think I might very well die the day he dies of a broken heart. I told him to come get me if he goes first. Whatever there is on the other side, I could never be happy or ok without him.

      Not all religions/churches are like there. There are just those who use their religion as an excuse, the reason you never hear about religions doing anything good is because the good ones out there just don't fight back and let all the bad things happening because "God will take care of them".
