Pulse 3D vs Pulse Elite comparison from reviews I’ve watched:
The Pulse Elite has:
• Much better comfort.
• Simultaneous Bluetooth (PS + Phone audio)
• Over double the battery life
• A better mic
• Possibly has much better response and less latency due to PS Link
• Planar Magnetic drivers (different from dynamic drivers used in almost all headsets) start at a minimum of £300. Pulse Elite has them at under £150. The sound quality is in another league.
So what are you sacrificing from the Pulse 3D?
- Sidetone control buttons
- Game to chat mix buttons
- Very ugly design on the Pulse Elite (imo)
- The cups aren’t as rigid and are slightly flimsier on the Pulse Elite. This approach improved comfort for different head shapes but might have decreased build quality.
Pulse 3D rrp is £90/ $100
Pulse Elite rrp is £130/ $150
Thanks! I'm gonna pin this comment
The elite is was better then the original. Your comment was redundant.
I have had my 3D pulse elite headsets for three days now which I haven’t charged them but only when I first got them & it’s still on a full battery. The battery life is insane 😮
The planar drivers are HUGE. So glad audeze's drivers are getting out there to the general public. They're too good 🔥 I pray the drivers hit the xm6. I'll still stick with my audeze Maxwell's but this is exciting. That precision of the planar drivers are amazing
I would imagine that's the plan. I'd be interested to see what Sony will do with the design as the planar drivers are large.
Honestly i never thought about going out wearing these. They were on my radar due to the drives, pretty cool to have more info on them. Thanks! 🖖🏼
You are very welcome!
I'm So excited you got to check these out. I have the Audeze Penrose S & the battery life is poor for gaming. So I will use these for games & Penrose for out of the house if I leave the house with headphones.
Good plan! I had the Penrose and they sounded great from what I remember.
Just got these at target this morning on my way to work lol
Can’t wait to get home and try them out for the first time! 🎧
Have fun!
Thanks for the video - I have a Sonos 7.2.4 audio system and was wondering whether using the Pulse Elite would be better instead for gaming?
I am using a 5.1.4 setup and there are times I prefer to use a headset. If I want to communicate with my team and really try to win every match, I’m using the Pulse Elite. If I’m just playing something like FF7, then I’ll use my sound system.
Thank you, Chana. Using your link I bought these right away based on your recommendation and I will be keeping them inside. Yes, I agree with you on the aesthetics and your video segment on this has got to be one of the most hilarious things I have seen by a reviewer! Thank you for that opportunity to LOL
Ayyyy! I’m glad you got a good laugh. This CZcams thing is supposed to be fun, right?? 😂
I wasn’t expecting a review of these on your channel but I’m glad you did one. I was interested in the 3D Audio imaging. As an Atmos mixer do you think it does a good job of placing sounds in 3D?
I’ll have to give that some extra time to test.
I think they look amazing, very futuristic, I love the design!
They are very futuristic…maybe ahead of their time!
Great video! I'm excited for the Elites. I love the planar sound signature, Audeze are some of the best in the biz. I own a range of Audeze products (LCD-2C, Penrose, Maxwell, MM-100). The MM-100 are extremely comfortable considering their weight. The Elite looks comfortable as well. I'm liking all the coverage of the Elite thus far. It seems to be outperforming it's $150 price tag.
They did a great job with the AI noise reduction for the microphone. It's covered in a few other videos of the Pulse Elite. There are a couple of things that I don't like about Audeze headphones, and those are clamping force and heavy weight. The Pulse Elite is pretty great overall...minus the looks.
@@TechnoDad Yes I made a Dodge Ram joke above, which speaks to the pros and cons for me lol. But I love the headset. Got it for my sons B-Day on 3-12 and I had to try them out on Helldivers 2. On the planetary drop they do clip a little at max volume but the gameplay sounds are really hyper realistic compared to my Razer Kraken and Blackshark V2 headsets. I don't have a PS5 to EQ and adjust the mic mix, but my older son who lives elsewhere does. Hopefully Sony will release special PC drivers to address this given how PC is becoming a major revenue stream for them. Great review, thank you for keeping it real!
Can you make a video going through if it works with Xbox series x and all the features it supports and doesn't support on Xbox? I want to use the headset for both consoles
Which one do you prefer for gaming and normal music usage, Pulse elite or Nova 7p?
Ahhhh…the Pulse Elite is inherently better sound quality wise. If I had to choose between those two, at the same price point, I would go with Pulse Elite.
I actually like hanging the headphones on the wall plus it doudles as a controller charger
I'm glad you are able to use that function!
Good review sir!
Thank you!
Technodad have you reviewed the Audeze Maxwell if you have how do you compare the two?
Hi! I actually had the Penrose for Xbox and those were pretty good. I have not tried the Maxwells. My biggest gripe with the Penrose was the detachable mic and the fact that I look like I'm flying a helicopter or something, as they are super bulky. The Maxwells seem the same, but these Pulse Elites are also not the greatest looking.
I love to watch 4K UHD blu ray movies on my PS5 but I only have a basic soundbar. Will these headphones play Dolby Atmos content for those movies? And if so how is the experience? Thanks for your review!
I’ll look into that!
Thanks!!
I love it, headphones should be reviewed by a professional sound guy & not a gamer.
Though… they aren’t mutual exclusive you know.
Thanks!
Wow, did you see his collection of headphones? He said he DJs…
@@techsamurai11 yeah been following his channel for a long, although I'm mostly a Home Theatre guy myself
Just got the pulse elite.. and Im enjoying the clarity and how good they sound, comfort, features and the price piece de resistance my friend. The few cons are the looks, the mic doesn't have the option like the control to power on on mute.. feel like that can be fixed in an update tho.. and then there's the bass it's hard to criticize because I wouldn't say it lacks it but if It wouldn't get muddy when turned up it would have been better in my opinion. And I'm talking like turned up all the way 😅
I was able to connect the PlayStation Link adapter to my iPhone and iPad to get better sound than over Bluetooth for listening to lossless and Dolby Atmos music
Nice tip!!
Hi Bro! Have you heard Taga harmony Tav 607 5.0 speakers with Taga harmony Tsw 212se? How it sounds?
Hi! No, I haven't. First time I've seen them, actually...
They look kinda small compared to old Pulse 3D. Am I wrong?
Also I hope dongle won’t overheat on PS5 Slim because you need to connect right where hot air comes out.
ahhh, no USB on the front for the slim? That sucks.
Which do you prefer?
Arctis nova pro or Pulse Elite?
The mic on the Pulse Elite is far superior, but I have to use two headsets if I'm going back and forth, switching consoles. If you're just on the PS5, then I would go with the Pulse as it's half the price and the SQ is much better.
Hello I have only one question!! Plug our usb adapter dongle into the back of the new ps5 slim, as that version of ps5 only brings usb type-c to the front. Won't it bring overheating and loss of sound quality in the headset?
u could get a usb-c to usb-a dongle to plug it in front
I’d say get an extension or an adapter.
I have the nova pros, how would you compare the two?
I like that I can use the Nova Pro for both PS5 and Xbox. If you're only on the PS5, then the Pulse Elite will have better SQ and the mic is also better...
Can you test if the edge controller fn works with these. It doesn’t work on the oh pulse headphones
Hi! Sorry, I don't have that controller.
I love the pulse elite design.
Nice!
Agree on the looks, I had the audeze Maxwell and they sounded good but way too heavy I like that these are lighter but non replaceable ear pads suck and they style is meh
The Pulse Elite is VERY light!
Pulse Elite vs Razer Blackshark V2 Pro 2023? What di you think? For ps5 fps gaming
Hi! I haven't used the Razer, but after a quick search, I would go with the Pulse Elite. The SQ will be much better.
@@TechnoDad Thanks for your quick response
@@T1moth3os You're welcome!
I recently bought a ps5 but I don't know which online multiplayer shooting game with most realistic graphics I should buy first plz tell
I mean…I’d go with Call of Duty Modern Warfare III. I love that Online Multiplayer in the Hardcore game mode. I’m not a fan of the battle royale game mode like warzone.
Do they work with PC. Is there any special software to set up all the sound effects? Or are they ps5 only?
they work on pc or any other system u plug the usb-stick in. no drivers required. even on mobile devices with usb dongle (or just use Bluetooth)
just one thing to add: updating the headphones or using the build in equalizer might be limited to ps5 for the time being
Yes, with the dongle, it should connect to PC without issues.
Should i get this or the steelseries nova 7??
I think the sound quality of the Pulse Elite is gonna be the winner
Hey techno dad I got a question, I just got these pulse elite headset and every now and then they keep disconnecting from my slim PS5 so I was wondering if you know of a fix or something cause its disconnected from my console 5 times now randomly at times. It's frustrating I spent 150$ on these and they keep disconnecting
Thank you.
Anytime! Thank you for watching.
Interesting. I wonder how these compare to the Penrose.
Penrose is way better sound for gaming and music but the build is horrible. It will eventually snap. I would go for maxwells or you don’t want spend too much then pulse elite
Really?? I’ve had mine for a few years and they still look like new.🤷♂️
@@brucecarter6205very well known issue, that’s why is not so highly rated
I like these over the Penrose. I couldn’t stand the mic on the Penrose.
@@brucecarter6205 there have been many reports, I had them but knowing they will snap eventually made me return them & waited for maxwells . Maxwells feel much sturdy
Thanks
Anytime!
Hi I have a klipsch 5.1.4 system which has the top firing on the top of satellite speakers. Now I want to dismantle it put it in my ceiling as ceiling speakers will this work ?
I would just mount them high up on your walls and keep them in tact. That should work out well.
@@TechnoDad thank you so much
Can you measure the inner cup size?
That would be tough...what headphones do you have currently?
@TechnoDad I have sony xm4. They are 6 cm inner size. Can you mesure the elite inner size? (The ear opening)
@@TechTipIL They are kind of oval and I'd say 2.25 inches top to bottom and almost 2 inches front to back.
@@TechnoDad thanks!!
is the right cup slanted like the pulses so that your right ear cup is shallow? left side was fine but right side my ear would rest on the driver
Really? That’s interesting. Does that happen with other headphones??
no it was just the original pulse had that issue for me. left side wasn't slanted. it was weird. @@TechnoDad
OH, I see.
@@TechnoDad but if i remember it was only on bottom right. it was a weird design
I don’t notice anything different about the cups from ear to ear.
Bro, pulse elite or inzone h9?
I haven’t used the Inzone H9, so I can’t say for sure. But I can say the new drivers in the Pulse Elite will smash a standard driver, so sound is quality will be inherently better with the Pulse Elite. I read the H9 has ACN and Spatial Audio, not sure the Pulse Elite can do those things.
inzone h9 vs pulse elite which would you recommend
I would go with the Pulse Elite purely for the sound quality.
@@TechnoDadi have a blackshark v2 pro 2023 edition will it Bee a upgrade to buy The Puls Elite.?
@@brianstergaardlarsen2871 That's hard to tell since I have not used those. I mean, you could use your right as a consumer and buy the Pulse and return it if you don't like it...
The sound is very good but one problem I have with these headsets you cannot lower your teammate voice in a game. It’s only when you’re in a party settings you could do that why is PlayStation not allowing you to do it?
That’s odd…can’t do it in the game audio settings?? I’ll have to check that out…
@@TechnoDad yes you can do it in the game audio settings, but I don’t wanna do that. The headset is supposed to do that on Xbox. You could do that.
Sir when I saw these were coming out, I ran straight to your page because u guys are true audiophiles. That being said, we need a proper EQ setting for COD WZ and MP... Yes the two game modes sound completely different. I would really really want the best pulse elite headset setting for WZ because Activation totally screwed up the audio in that mode. Footsteps drop in and out and the ambient noise drowns out gunfire report.
So there are EQ presets and user defined EQ settings in the audio section of the menu when using the Pulse Elites. Super handy for quick changes. You can save up to four EQ settings and recall them on the fly.
I did do that I just cannot get the footsteps and gunfire to balance out properly when I modify the shooter sound profile
@@BertoJA876 Have you tried a custom profile and boosting the highs and lows only?
This headset has AI noise suppression built in mic, which is a feature. Would have been interesting seeing a noise test
I’ll have to figure out a way to record that…
First time I’m in here I want to purchase this to play FPS rainbow six siege is it worth it I have a headset that cost me $390 from skill series
Well…I would say this. Use all your rights as a consumer. If you don’t like the Pulse Elite, RTS - Return That Shit… try both maybe? Keep the one you like. At $149, the Pulse Elite is a great value.
@@TechnoDad. I normally purchase myself from Best Buy the normal allow me to use it for 30 days and I can return and get my money back. Thank you very much.
Channa is such a Renaissance man. Music, gaming, all things audio and video, Atmos content creator, Spatial Audio collaborator, devastating mic controller DJ extraordinaire. The price point is crazy for planar magnetic headphones. 2u
Thank you, Tristan! I appreciate it. Life is filled with things to do. Gotta love what you do!
The scene from the incredible tu as l’air ridicule 😅
LOL!
My friend techno Dad , help me please , I love ripper my physical movies Disc , I use dvdfab I love dvdfab I paid for alls . I just need your hell about my blueray driver .. I bough an Pioneer BDR-XD07UHD , when I put my 4K CD , and my dvdfab say : it’s no compatible, I think it’s unfriendly.. can you tell me what i have to do for ? Or if I will buy another blueray 4K driver witch one I can buy , I saw your video how ripper 4K , but you never talk a about this .. thank you , please help me
Just got these today. EXTREMELY uncomfortable if you’re using PSVR2. If you put them over the headset there is a big gap allowing sound in and the sound is horrible. With it under the headset the sound is astonishing but the headset pushes the ear cups into your ear and it hurts within about 30 minutes. They do sound unbelievably awesome though. If you’re not using PSVR, I suppose they’d be ok. Problem is they slide all over the place while on your head. I tilted my head forward and back just a little and they moved a lot. You’ll be making a lot of adjustments while playing. Guess I’ll
Be trying out the Pulse earbuds next. If they don’t work, it’s back to my $30 Amazon headphones which are extremely comfortable and sound decent enough.
Well...that's not good! I remember using some basic headphones with my Quest 2 as it just worked.
@@TechnoDad its mind boggling how a $30 set of headphones made by some Chinese company work better with the PSVR2 than the $150 made for PlayStation ones. It’s like the design team put them on and said “good enough”.
The looks are subjective but doesn't look terrible to me. Kinda artsy. Not sure I would wear it outside though lol
LOL!
One minute in and my adhd has thinking, does the PS5 support Atmos for the Apple Music app??? 🤔
Not sure...I'll have to check on that.
@@TechnoDad awesome video btw!
idk why people complain about quality... they added wiggle room top the ear cushions and it's a issue... The build quality is no different than what it's little brother was low quality but it works... for 150 for the new company they absorbed and the upgrades they added for a 50 dollar jump it's not bad.... im sorry sony doesn't want to sell them for 99.99 XD get the 99 dollar pair and move on.. *in general not for anyone specifically*
Yeah, it's really not that big of an issue considering the price point.
Sony pulse elite cool
No need to drill a hole in the wall, use two sided tape for hanging pictures.
Good point!
Sorry Tachno dad. I love the look of these headphones. They stand out and you know its a PS headphones.
The only other headphones with a nicer look are the Focal headphones.
All good, Buddy! I still use them...I just don't look in the mirror, lol!
Yo that's a hell of a good deal
I think so!
Unless u wanted to use this for music…both these new magnetic drivers headphones/earbuds aren't up to par
Wouldn't want to walking around in public with them.on...unless you're in Neo Tokyo.
(Bigger cup size for the ears - better get Erin in to measure it! 😆
Hahahaha!
Bigger cup size😂😅. Same old Channa😂😅❤❤
😂
You never said how loud they get.
Sorry! They get pretty damn loud…first thing I had to do was turn them down.
I agree with wearing them outside. Aint no way😂
haha!
You look like the wizard came from the moon when wearing this thing.
I know, it's really strange...
Does it work on a ps3?
Don’t have a PS3…
yes, on every device with usb, even ps2 (with the usb "link" stick). ps3 also has Bluetooth.
just one thing to add: updating the headphones or using the build in equalizer might be limited to ps5 for the time being
they do look rather silly out in the real world 😂
Right?
Yeah....i have these and i love the headphones but hate the look smh
I've never once in my life considered wearing over ear headphones outside of my house. People do that?
More than you would think.
I wouldn't take any headset that large out in public.
Agreed!
A dongle, WTF!!!
yeah, its for loseless and low latency audio. you can still use Bluetooth without using the dongle too
Audeze Maxwell are alot better than these
They are also twice the price…and go along with some aviators and a helicopter…
So you DIDNT compare these to the OG pulse!? Why!? How are we supposed to understand how good they are? Thumbs down for this one Techno Dad.
Why compare it to the lower end original model ?
He uses higher quality items so his opinion coming from experience with such is better
I never had the OG Pulse….I went with SteelSeries from jump.
@@TechnoDad I understand that but you have to realize anybody who's interested in this product probably owns the first one. Why buy this over the original? There was more comparison on how it looks versus how it sounds. As funny as it was, this video didn't give us any info other than it looks terrible.edit: and the new drivers
@@tiagoj8020 Noted! Thanks for your input.
@@TechnoDad thanks for taking the criticism!
