This is why Mrs Walker tolerated Hilda for all those years - Shared memories - shared experiences from the past
Brilliant episode in all ways, especially the contrast between Jack's 'relaxed' return and Annie's terror and relief - brilliant. Also the wonderful brief scene towards the end between Jack and Lucille.
@Coronation Street Storyline Peter Susan 👍
Coronation street radiates a warmth that no other soap has.
the acting in this is so natural and felt--- I am weeping---and this form of entertainment has been undervalued.Later Hilda on Stans death is great because it is felt. The old lady loosing her daughter is spot on . Sorry weeping for her xxx
@Jill Rossiter I totally agree. The daft thing is though, this episode was broadcast 9 years before I was born, and I have seen it many times as I have the DVD collection, but every single time David says, "it's Mrs Sharples" I burst into tears!
Jeeeez, I can still remember watching that episode, I was ten years old... I'm now 63..
Time does fly by!!
Me too.
"pretending to be outside
while being inside a studio is
a hard thing to do,
they make it look
very good." -📺🤔.
They did get an outside set in this era eventually
IT WAS OUTSIDE
@@jazmorrison9030 all in the studio..
I was hoping you had this iconic episode, thanks.
Loved the 'From the North' Granada ident, should have kept it longer..
What an excellent episode. :) Thank you so much Auntie Corrie2. xx
This is when Corrie was worth watching.
Its amazing how Hilda looks the same here in 1967 till when she left in 1988.
She left December 1987
An underrated beauty too.
Such a touching episode. Thank you so much.
Private Walker from Dads' Army has got his stripes up in this episode - as the police sergeant; James Beck, for it is he, also played a copper in an All Gas and Gaiters episode.
Thank you for uploading these episodes of Coronation Street Auntie Corrie2
At the point 3:49 the actor who plays the copper is James Beck who later played Joe Walker in Dad's Army.
Amazing to think this was studio based they didn't have the outdoor lot till the following year. Even more amazing this would have been a live recording - not broadcast live but recorded as thought it were - one take no stops or retakes. If they made a serious error or there was a technical fault they had to go back and film the whole thing again.
Thanks for uploading this episode
Love these corries even though I wasn't born until 2 years later
Classic coronation street
So terribly sad. That poor lass and her gran.
yes, and didn't Gran act it so well.Who was she? needs a posthumous oscar or something because she had observed people and perfected her talent.xx
That old lady Mrs. Peters must be in her late seventies.
3:49 James Beck of Dad’s Army fame. RIP.
A H Here here. Sorely missed.
I thought it was. 🥰
Hilda looks quite glam.
Doris Speed was sooooo good.
I thought that too! The scene where she snaps at Hilda then breaks down, so perfectly done 🙌🙌
RIP Michael Apted
He was responsible for '7 and Up' aso World In Action wasn't he?
@@darganx He was
@@stevecharlemagne4496 his report on Bloody Sunday was a game changer for sure.

No firemen???
Haha I said same thing.
Do you have the 9th/14th/16th of August 1967, thanks
Where is 669 15 May?
What I want to know is. Where are the bloody firemen?
