Do you need Prime It?

I want to do this with a PC case (steampunk build). Will the Prime-It work on something that's already powder coated, or do I have sandblast it first to get to the bare steel? Also, does adding two coats of prime it and then two coats of copper coating add significantly to the thickness of the metal? I know that's relative, but I'm trying to figure out how much it will affect the screws. I'm definitely going to have to avoid the threads, but I'm trying to determine if I need to leave space around the screw holes too.

Very cool. It should work over the powder coat without any problem, just clean it with Isopropyl alcohol first. It doesn't add a lot of thickness but those screws can be small and it could make a difference. I would put a little poster putty in the hole to help block it out personally.

@@sculptnouveau putty is a good idea. I was thinking of using hot glue, but putty would be better. Thanks for answering!
