thanks for sharing... I can't wait to give it a try... This climbing method, combined with my minimalist saddle will weigh next to nothing, and allow me to climb, and hunt from almost any tree...
I'm just starting into saddle hunting, getting myself set up and will practice this summer. Your method will get me off the ground for sure! Thank you for sharing your idea! I really like it.
Great idea. I'll take a back up foot rope because it can slip down the tree. A climbing tree stand have a line that connects the chair to the platform and I had to reach for it a few times
Is the same as using an ascender and a foot aider just more steps and worse equipment put some HD zip ties on your ropes with the tails sticking out to act as handles. It will allow you to flip your tethers up the tree a lot easier.
Disclaimer: this method takes some serious tweaking to be as versatile as I'd originally hoped. For one thing, tree diameter needs to be 20" or less. I also found it easier to take my feet off the foot board, raise the foot rope, then put my feet back on the foot board and stand up. It still works very well, but is not the answer for every hunting scenario.
Good video! This is a great back up to when you just don't want to haul in bunch of climbing sticks. I'm wondering if you could just use rope? No wood needed if you used two loops for your feet. I would seem based on the principles used in your climbing method the whole concept is about alternating at different heights the pressure/elevation change. Very good cool concept
Dam, bud this looks like the real deal, only thing you can't climb tree's with limbs or do you have that figured out now, do you make that wood step can you make a description picture of that set up,looks great
Looks very similar to 2 tether method, where they use just on foot ,,I do have a problem with the one foot method cause of pressure spied to outside of foot,,you may have an alternative here
I had the same thought as you and tried it. I found 2 major issues: 1) the carabiner tends to jam up so tight you can hardly unscrew the gate lock when you need it, and 2) the tether slides too easily within the carabiner, so when you move the tether up the tree it won’t stay in place without tension.
@@etworker Gotcha.......We have more trees with limbs in my world than without. Still excited to play with this climbing method for this season. I think it has great potential!
Hey Sam I'm curious do you still use this method if so how did you modify it to make it quieter? Perhaps a new video is in order!!! Thanks Tom. Cheers!
Hi Tom- yes, I primarily used this method last season. I rounded the edges of the piece of wood on a belt sander, which reduced the noise a lot. With practice and taking your time, you can be very quiet while climbing. When I shot this video it was probably the 2nd or 3rd time doing it and I was more showing the mechanics of it rather than how I would do it in a hunting scenario.
That would be great, I've been saddleHunting for just over 10yrs now and altered my tethers with climbing rope, carabiner's & a couple wildman accenders!!! Always looking for lighter & quieter idea's currently using stackable sticks!!!
I've hunted a lot in the early season using this and found that if you do it properly, this method is very efficient and can be done without getting overheated. Way better than screwing in pegs as you go. I've never hunted with sticks, so I can't compare.
I used sticks and a 4 step aider quite a bit this season and they work pretty slick. However when I’m going deep I still go with this rope method as it is a lot lighter and more compact.
Simple and genius! Thank you for sharing.

Yes Sir, that is one sweet way to climb a tree. Thank you.

I'm going to give your method a try! Thanks for sharing!
great idea. thanks for sharing it with us
Clever man 👍👍, thanks for sharing.
Needed to get up a wood utility pole. Thanks for sharing.

That’s a kool idea bud thanks for sharing
Very cool, I just ordered my saddle so I will definitely explore this option, thx!
SksToTheMini14 where did you order a saddle from?!?
Brilliant!...Thanks for sharing..
Great job , thanks I think I will give it a try.
You opened some eyes thanks
Thanks for the video!!! I adopted and used your climbing method all this past fall and killed a little buck!!!!
Well done!

great idea!!
Very cleaver. Thanks.
Now that is a nice trick thumbs up
What a great idea! Can you make a video showing how you made the climbing aid?
Awesome idea. I tried something similar but I couldn't get it to work. I see you using that piece of wood. I think that would make the difference.
That was pretty cool thanks
Genius. I envision a race to improve and quiet and bring to market
Subscribed.
Thanks for the content.
Keep up the good work.
BS'D
Very cool! where did you learn this? I'd like to see more examples.
Genius!

Sam Potter what kind of saddle do you have?
Cool trick! Where did you get the saddle?
🇧🇷👍 parabéns Congratulations 🇧🇷👍 gratifying 🇧🇷👍

It depends on your boots. I originally tried without a foot board and found I didn't like the way the rope dug into my feet.

What kind of harness is that? It looks comfortable. More comfortable than what I have.
very good ดีมากๆ เลย
Hey, what saddle was that?
Do you still use this method? If no, what do you use now?
Do you still use this method Sam
Dude what an awesome Idea. Hit me up I have some ideas to toss at you
10 years later
Yup
Have you tried adding carabiners to your tether ropes for quick disconnect to go around limbs?
I had the same thought as you and tried it. This is a bit late response, but do not use carabiners for this purpose, it can lead to cross loading and damage/break the carabiner. Use a quick link
What brand of saddle is that
That's an original Trophyline Tree Saddle I bought at Bass Pro back in 2007.
Would you suggest it also for coconut trees?
I assume this would work well on coconut trees, I just don't have any nearby to try myself.
i just ordered a climbing harness and a climbing rope to try this on a coconut tree lol

+10 pts. but i cant chew gum & walk. well done,
Great method but I would sweat my butt off down here in Texas. Would rather carry my sticks

get sticks and an aider and u will be much happier!!

Next time. Keep your mouth shut. And show how it is done.
Next time. Keep your stupid comments to yourself.
I find this hilarious. Who hunts all day in that thing?
