  • Cleaning lens element's in Non-Ai Nikkor-Q Auto 1:2.8 f=135mm.
This is a "simple" lens to work with, so if you are new into repair and cleaning lenses, this would be a good lens to start with.
In this lens I use both Lighter fluid and "Eclipse" lens cleaner, but it look's like the lighter fluid work's best in this case.

I just wanted to express my gratitude for your straightforward video here as well as the vidoes about the stiff focus ring. The process isn't half so nerve wracking with your guidance. Thank you.

Hi Ken, great work as always. I'm a big fan of your channel - what you do is inspiring and empowering. After watching this videos and the one on stiff focus ring for this lens, I mustered up enough courage to attempt fixing my old, dusty, hazy, and stiff Nikkor-Q Auto 135mm f2.8. It went flawlessly and now I have this old gem looking and working like new. This was my first attempt at anything like this and I'm thrilled that I could do it - THANKS TO YOU!! I took a few pictures today with it while walking the dog - I had forgotten how sharp this lens is.

Thank's Bob, It's great when one have done a complicated lens or a camera. So it's good that you start with some simple lenses, and remember to take a lot's of pictures or make a film during the process, it will help you when assemble it again.
Also, when working with Japanese lenses and cameras, REMEMBER to use JIS screw drivers (Japan Industry Standard)..., NOT Philips screw driver because you can damage the screw head. IF the screw's sit way too thight you can use some Nail polish remover to soften the thread locker, you can of course also use Acetone it work's the same way.
      Cheers
      Kenneth

The big set screw under the hood is TOTALLY locked on mine :-( Soaked it with acetone and tried different drivers, but it is locked solid and the head starting to strip. I can’t see myself getting into this one 😞

Thank's Ed, I have another lens of the same, that I need to re-grease because of the stiff focus ring. So I will make a film about that.

Hi, Ken. Could you be so kind to help me? I modified my Nikkor Q Auto 135mm f/2.8 to work with my D750 but when I try to assemble the mounting plate back (with the aperture bayonet attached as it is in this lens) I can't get it to it's right spot as the aperture won't open past f/5... Do you have any suggestions? Thanks a lot

There was SO MUCH GLUE in my lens threads I didn't believe. Took me nearly 1 hour to disassemble the first 15 minutes of the video. Had to put acetone 5 to 10 times for it to soften.

Hi. I suppose I have the same problem with the frontal lens which is stuck. I have spent the last few months trying to unscrew it, without any success. It seems to be sealed. Any suggestion is warmly appreciated. Best.
