Harry breaks Elder Wand
Filch: POTTER WHY DONT YOU USE THAT TO FIX THE CASTLE!
Harry: O shi
LOL
and poor old Filch was doing the cleaning work all on his own
I read Filch in his angry voice
on the other hand, I'm sure Hagrid, McGonagal, Flitwick and other remaining staff members can deal with it, using their wands/spare wands. I mean one can't always rely on the Elder wand to do all the work, can they.
Respect to filch!
I have no words to describe how much I love this scene. This was not a teenage story, this was a journey from childhood to adulthood. We have to be forever grateful for what this amazing team of artists did for this series of books. Also the music by Alexandre Desplat in this moment is up there with John Williams' best stuff in the first films
"A New Beginning" has gotta be one of the most underrated tracks I've ever heard of.
I like that there is no big party or celebration at the end. It's just the survivors sitting together, drinking tea, relieved that it's over.
The most British thing ever
One of my favorite things about Harry Potter is Ron, Hermione, and Harry's relationship. There was no love triangle, just friendship, and trust, and love. Even when Ron and Hermione got together, Harry just smiled like he's been waiting for them to get together forever. #harrypotterforever

*Harry breaks elder wand*
Elder wand: After all I did for you this is how you repay me?
Harry: "You've caused enough trouble for ages! It's time to end it for good!"
Harry jojo style "YES!"
Elder wand: I WAS GOING TO MAKE YOU A GOD
Yeah plus he's gonna have to return Dracos Wand back to him he should've kept the Elder Wand and used it for good like Dumbledore did.
Harry: Oh, like how you’re the whole reason Voldemort went on that rampage and was responsible for the deaths of many of my friends and family just to make you his? Yep, we’re not repeating that, you wooden wanker.
This is why I love Harry so much; he's so humble, practical and selfless that the best idea he could have come up with was throwing away the most powerful wand in the world. As he said it himself in the book; he couldn't afford more trouble to be honest.
And Hermione knows this and she totally agrees with it; it was the most prudent and logical thing they could do. I love the way she looks at him with such respect, love and admiration. Honestly, Harry is indeed one of a kind, being so wonderful after having gone through the most unthinkable and horrible things. Ironically, and the least favorite character among fans. Such a shame.
When hermoine holds his hand and smiles at him what did it mean?
@@phantomfire7205 that she's proud of him and happy that he is alive and the war is finally over.

Imagine the relief Harry felt in this scene. You can see it in Dans great acting, all those years of guilt over people dying for him, finally avenged. All the worrying delt with in one battle, he can finally live a normal life. Although I'm guessing he'll be even more famous now, something he never liked much.
I reckon his fame will grow for avenging his parents.
Didn't they die to stop Voldemort taking over the world? I don't think they just died because they liked Harry. I would guess it was more that they thought letting some psycho maniac dark wizard run everything was a bad idea and Dumbledore was the only one who had a plan (that just happened to involved Harry).

max dog That's what happens when David Yates tries to change the story... in the books he simply repaired his old wand and placed the Elder Wand back in Dumbledore's tomb
max dog My theory is that he was able to break it since it belonged to him. Harry did not wish to use it, so it "bent to his will", right in half.
***** What?
I love this scene so much. The simplicity with which Harry breaks the wand. Harry has never wanted power and glory, and he knows the wand wont bring anyone any happiness, it will just cause trouble. Especially since we know it's history now - how wizards have killed to wield that wand. Harry is truly good to his core. To me that was the "and he lived happily ever after" moment. We didn't need the flash forward scene.
well the only spell when harry used the elder wand was to fix his wand
I personally preferred Harry snapping the Elder Wand in half in the movie, rather than returning it to Dumbledore's grave in the books. It perfectly shows that Harry understood how dangerous that wand is courtesy of its bloody history, and Harry wants no part of that
1:16 man we all need a friend like harry. like i mean, he isn't jealous that ron and hermione are now a "thing", instead he's happy for them and his smile says congrats.

It makes them more relatable
That's always been one of my biggest annoyances with these movies, as how they started to wear normal clothes even in hogwarts ever since the third movie.
JaL90 they are still humans lol
That pang of sadness I feel every time the camera captures the three of them gazing out to the horizon and then fades out to black, knowing that this simple moment of them standing together marks their 6 years of friendship down the line and all the trials and tribulations they overcame as well as the adventures they had are now coming to an end. It's a weird feeling, rather like how I felt when I watched Ralph Bakshi's adaptation of The Lord of the Rings for the first time and I couldn't believe two hours worth of a unforgettable escapade into fantasy wouldn't last forever, like I really felt there could have just been a lot more to come. Sometimes it's in the quietest hours of the day I take a moment to reflect on the things I grew up with, Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, you name it, how they had influenced and enriched my life and although I can never really describe it in words, I just feel glad to know these things exist, you know?

They should have had Harry repair his phoenix wand, with the Elder Wand like he does in the book. God knows why they had to change that. It wouldn't have affected the story or pace of the film in any way.
Maybe to shorten the time
I mean, the result and meaning behind it is all the same. Harry did what he did with the Elder Wand, in both Book and film, purely because he thought no one man should have that much power.
That, and I doubt he wants someone else to be tempted to kill him to gain possession of the wand for themselves.
It gives a sense of climax to the film. Movies are different from the books so deal with it.
Maybe deleted scenens. Or not, who knows Im watching this on CZcams after all.
I can’t imagine the indescribable relief, happiness and triumph that Harry must’ve been feeling in this scene. A lifetime of pain and suffering, all those trials and tribulations, all evaporated into thin air as the one who caused him all this pain did. Must’ve been the best feeling ever.

I love how Hagrid greeted Harry. No words needed.
I like that in the movie they didn't have Harry fix his old Phoenix feather broken wand with the Elder wand & also had him destroy the Elder wand unlike what was in the book.
It's symbolic in a way, him losing his original wand is in a sense a goodbye to one of his links with Voldemort aside from him being a Horcrux. Furthermore him destroying the Elder Wand can symbolize an end to all the bloodshed that was caused from & for the Elder Wand & also a sort of closure to Dumbledore & Grindelwald's story for good.
A brand new start for Harry & the Wizarding World (with no continuing influence from Dumbledore & no looming threat from Voldemort), bye bye sins of the past.

Cosmic armor Superman Can you do that with a spell?
He can rebuild the old wand ifk about the school tho, it is the most powerful wand.
Cosmic armor Superman maybe he did, off screen.
0:56 Karma for the Red Wedding
FrizFroz bn nvm lucidly
Alexandre Desplat’s score just MAKES this scene. He had to capture pain, triumph, loss, relief, friendship, the end of a long journey and the beginning of a new one.. all within one minute.
Film composers deserve so much more respect.
(By the way, if you listen carefully.. the melody playing here is a beautiful variation on the badass “statues” theme from the Battle of Hogwarts scene)
The shot of Harry & Hermione @ 3:25 shows that Hermione has enough room in her heart for both Harry & Ron. This PHENOMENAL saga proves that you can be in a relationship & have friends at the same time.
Nah I always believed she was in love with Harry lol
the music makes me cry this is how they ended all those magical years
I like how they had Harry break the Elder Wand in the film, to prevent it from ever being abused again. I don't know if it was Daniel's acting or not, but the scene almost implies that only the Wand's current master would be able to destroy it...and even then it would resist. I know in the book, Harry has it reburied with Dumbledore...but this seems more fitting somehow. No disrespect meant to Jo Rowling, but someone else could always steal the Wand from the tomb again; this way, its over for good.
Well maybe that's why she wrote it that way ;)
I miss Dobby. My hands are shaking literally
+karenwhatley dicks out for dobby
+CSGOSwiftclaw yes well I was shaking because I was holding my phone for so long
It wouldn't work as Harry is the current master of the wand and left it in dumbledores grave there would be no way of disarming him unless he actually was wielding the wand.
"I've had enough trouble for a lifetime."
I want to know what was going through Harry's mind at 3:18. The amount of peace he must feel is insane
Anyone else love how Ron and Hermione didn't stop holding hands. I love them so much!!
@Daibplays stfu shitty harmione freak and read the books
I get why Harry destroys the Elder Wand, it's to make sure that nobody else with evil intentions will take the Elder Wand and cause chaos. But couldn't he have first repair his wand and the castle before he broke it? Just saying, it kinda felt like a waste.
Elindri Lim in the book he did repair his phoenix wand but yeah he should have used it to repair everything
In the book he repairs his wand
Elindri Lim I'm just gonna assume it was done off-screen. Although I read that Greyback threw Harry's wand away in the film after he searches him.
In the book he mends his own AND puts the Elder wand back into Dumbledore's grave intact. Really, I could accept any other change in the movie, but NOT this!
in the book he repairs his own wand and then placed the elder wand back to dumbledore's grave
It was really smart of Harry to break the Elder Wand. Even if it’s the most powerful wand in the world it’s also dangerous. Imagine being disarmed once and that wand isn’t yours anymore, since he wanted to be an Auror which he eventually did become he was going to get disarmed way more than just once
To be honest the elder wand really isn’t that great
I’m sure a wand that only does what’s right and is the most powerful in all magics especially defense magic
Only giving its loyalty to the one who is in the right
That wand I think could beat the elder wand
To be honest the wand is only as powerful as the wizard
The wand at the end of the day is a tool
If a powerful enough wizard with a regular wand can beat and equal with the elder wand if proves the wand isn’t as good as people think
But this already happened dumbledore beat his equal in gridwaled with the elder wand
So even if the wand is useful someone with enough skill and power can beat someone of equally great skill and power without the elder wand against the elder wand
Like I said the wand is only as important as peopel make it out to be even if it is more powerful
Sometimes true power is when knowing when you have enough of it
I miss Robbie Coltrane so much. I'm glad that he joined the cast to help Harry on his journey from the beginning until the end of the Potter Era. Thanks Robbie, it's always been a great pleasure watching you since Day 1 from 21 years ago. I love you as Hagrid forever and always. Your body of work will never die, thank you.
I absolutely love this ending better than the books. It really shows harry potters character and how he’s the most good hearted character ever. Whether the elder wand is indestructible or not is irrelevant. It’s the fact that the wand represents ultimate power, so much power in your grasp that no one EVER thought about destroying such a thing. Only dear Harry Potter. I love how after he destroys it Hermione looks at him just admiring his heart and what he just did, no questions asked.
What a stupid comment, the books are much better in that aspect. Well, in any aspect, really. That's why Harry in the book put the wand in Dumbledore's grave so ultimately the wand will be powerless too when Harry dies. Harry in the movie resembles stupidity because he didn't even repear his own wand 🤣
Yeah, another reason why Harry isn’t a Ravenclaw. If it’s the most powerful wand, surely it can do a simple Reparo, right?
3:27
Harry: "Now where'd that little aryan bastard Draco run off to?"
0:16 The way ginny looks at Harry...damn.
This scene is so perfect.....I would have loved seeing something like harry repairing Hogwarts with the wand, then breaking it. But the destruction in the background and everything...just fits SO SO well. Really encapsulates the journey that we all witnessed. I saw every Harry Potter movie in theaters upon release day. EVERY ONE. So this story was a huge part of my childhood. I honestly cant wait to have kids to have awesome at home movie nights rewatching it. Such a beautiful series.
