    I was debating between the the 15MKIII and the 15ES and ended up with a 15ES. I'm not a professional detailer and only work on my own cars, the 15Es made more sense. Can't wait to use it in the next few weeks. Now the choice to make is compound. Rupes Yellow wool with either Sonax Perfect Finish or Uno Protect 🤔. Since i'll be Coating with Nanolex SiShield Uno Protect might be out of the question. If only Uno pure was right now...

      Thanks for watching and commenting Ronald. Sounds like you made the right choice for your situation! If you intend to coat your vehicle then UNO Protect is definitely not the product you'll want to use. The new DA System, including UNO Pure, is shipping globally and only about a month out for North America... if you can wait that long.

    They're all "easy to use" but when would someone choose for example the duetto over the 15mm or mille? Would it be a good choice to buy a mark I since there's a Mark II and III at this moment? (not only considering the price difference.)

    • @RUPES
      @RUPES  Před 3 lety +2

      Thanks for commenting. The Duetto is a great choice for someone who prefers the "hand-on-body" design similar to the 8mm orbitals that so many people learned to polish with vs. the professional style pistol grip and top handle design of the other tools. The body design being more compact, it can also be more ergonomic in some situations where a larger tool can be cumbersome.
      With a smaller orbit (12mm) the Duetto is also popular with people who don't need the additional correction power of a forced rotation or larger stroke. For this reason the Duetto has a cult-like following among some pros as a tool for extremely delicate finishes or preservation details.
      Lastly, the 12mm orbit is also great for sanding. The name Duetto (for duet) speaks to its ability to do two things well. We see the Duetto deployed in a lot of environments where the tech may do some spot sanding with a foam backed abrasive then immediately switch to a coarse pad and compound and use the tool to take out that sanding mark. It isn't that the 15 isn't capable of this, but the slightly smaller orbit of the Duetto makes the rate of material removal slightly slower and more controlled.
      In the end, all the tools in the video are incredibly capable and, with technique adjustments, can all do a lot of the same jobs. The choice of tool really comes down a lot to personal factors like preference, budget, etc. Hopefully that helps.

  • @Paul_R_Canada
    @Paul_R_Canada Před 4 lety +2

    Hello, I decided on the 15 mark iii wanting the most current technology and don't mind spending a little more on a tool that j hope will last for many years of personal use. I'd like to see some tips on polishing a vehicles curves, our cars like most modern cars have many edges and hood & fender curves with some tight and sharper edges, what's the best technique to safely polish and wax with the bigfoot on these panels?

    • @RUPES
      @RUPES  Před 3 lety +3

      Thanks for the comment Paul and congrats on choosing the LHR15 Mark III. That is a great suggestion for a video, but also really touches on 2 things. The outer 5cm (2inches) of all panels, deep curves, and tight spaces would be areas we classify as "edgework" and are always most effectively addressed with a smaller polisher like the LHR75E Mini or iBrid Nano. The only big drawback to large stroke random orbital tools is areas like this, so smaller tools/pads become a necessity to be the most efficient.
      The best analogy is to think of polishing like a car with random orbital the same way you think about painting a bedroom in your home. The roller does the bulk of the work and you certainly can jam it into the corners and edges to get the job done, but ideally you have small brushes to do the "cut in" work around the edges.
      The other aspect is maintaining optimal performance (rotation and orbit) on curved or convex surfaces where the full-size tool does fit. This comes down primarily to 3 things (1) Tool speed (2) Pad angle (3) Downward pressure. All of these can be adjusted depending on the contour of the panel to compensate for rotation stall and that will really vary from car to car and operator to operator.

    • @Paul_R_Canada
      @Paul_R_Canada Před 3 lety +1

      @@RUPES Oh that analogy made it make so much sense, thank you! I'd love to have all three sizes of these polishers including a nono long neck, but it's hard to justify for a home user, i only buy well manufacturered tools like the rupes because I value the quality of a tool and how well it performs (making the job much easier) but perhaps as a future christmas or fathers day present. I look forward to seeing that video! Cheers 🍻

    Do any of these machines "jiggle" a little less in the hands? I have a nice rando-orbit 8" but my hands are always numb after 30 minutes of use.

    • @RUPES
      @RUPES  Před 3 lety +2

      Thanks for your question. RUPES BigFoot polishers are famous for their low vibration and ergonomic designs. The system includes pads and compounds that are specific to the tool movement and are a carefully considered part of the counterbalance system. Suffice to say, our large orbit tools are not only much more powerful in terms of correction and finishing vs. your current 8mm DA, but when paired with the appropriate consumables they'll vibrate far less too!

    • @RUPES
      @RUPES  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks for watching and posting a question. Either tool would be good, it would depend mostly on the type of sanding you're doing. If you're only doing spot repairs and deeper isolated defects then the LHR75E mini would be the better choice so you can control the sanding area. If you do more "full panel" sanding work then the LHR12E Duetto might be a better option.

    Hi Jason and Rupes Team. I have a question, is it true by modifying the polisher with a washer mod giving more performance and best result finish? Is it gonna create more heat because the backing plate is going to be more free spin rotation? I'm not a professional detailer, but I'm doing a detailing business. Will you recommend to modify it with a washer mod? Thanks Jason & Rupes Team. You all are awesome..

    • @RUPES
      @RUPES  Před 3 lety

      You didn't indicate if it was the LHR21 Mark III or the LHR15 Mark III, and that matters because we don't recommend changing backing plates. The pad and plate are an integral part of the balancing system of each tool, so you should be running whatever size plate/pad are OEM standard for it (125mm - 5 inch for the LHR15 or 150mm - 6 inch for the LHR21) This video covers the risks and why we don't recommend plate swaps on our tools: czcams.com/video/6N2AubM4Qfk/video.html

      We would not recommend a rotary for a beginner. Rotary, while the most widely used type of tool globally, is also the one that carries the highest risk for damage to the finish. It also requires the most time to learn to use appropriately.

      Hello and thank you for commenting on the video! This video really does the best at explaining the options for s first time buyer. The LHR12E Duetto, LHR15ES, or LK900E polishers are all great for personal use on one or multiple vehicles. When it comes to compound and pad selection, that would really depend on your goals, the condition of each car, and how much effort you want to apply. The most simple solution would be our all-in-one polish UNO Protect paired up with our DA Yellow Wool or Yellow Foam depending on the target defect.

      Potentially, yes. For a novice user we have observed it is easier to achieve rapid defect removal with the Mille - as a user gets more advanced and understands the variables of technique adjustment they can begin to maximize a random orbital tool... in this video however we were focused mostly on new/novice users.

    I just do not get on with DA machines. My LHR 15 and Mini Big Foot stall all the time 🤦🏻‍♂️

    • @RUPES
      @RUPES  Před 3 lety

      Pad stall is often something people overly concern themselves with based on a lot of bad information. Face of the matter is, momentary pad stall has very little impact on the correction rate. On a large orbit tool the rotation accounts for only a small percentage of the overall movement, and thus a low percentage of the overall cutting power. We've done more than a few videos that cover this that you might find helpful. I'll link a couple below for you to check out.
